Is there any way to merge DNG-sequence like AviSynth with RAW.mov do? I'm trying to shoot HDR video with crop_mode but AviSynth work just with mov files. Anyone now How to merge DNG frames with different expo to sequence with one corrected sequence?

Is there any way for Win users do decode MLVs from crop_mode to DNG sequence except RawFlow?

In Dual ISO mode in crop_mode processed through RawFlow and Dual ISO Processor files sometimes corrupt. I did some tests but it seems randomly with this pattern in resulted files: http://joxi.ru/Dr8oB9wh4Eol8A.jpg and it's RawFlow.exe bug cause DNGs from MLVP (on old, not crop_mode build though) processed through Dual ISO Processor seems good.

So again, is there some way for Windows users to decode mlv files of crop_mode to DNGs except RawFlow? (MLVP doesn't work with crop_mode MLVs)

Is it possible to add at least DNG sequence support for import? That way people could be able to process Dual ISO DNG to normal DNG. RawFlow software that decode crop_mode MLVs to DNGs sometimes seems randomly produce corrupt frames (on Dual ISO mode) so now for Win users it impossible to shoot Dual ISO footage in crop_mode because of insufficient postprocessing.

Yes, it was software problem. Thank you very much, your help was really useful. After you say your result with my footage were decent I did some footage and put it through different workflows and it does show difference! There are corrupted frames when I put footage through MLV->RawFlow->Dual ISO Processor. But there is normal DNGs when I put same footage through MLVP(with option "Dual ISO:Balanced"). So yes, it is not camera nor settings - it is software. And exactly with RawFlow.exe (all RawFlow software I think) because I did some additional test and put MLVs through MLVP but w/o embed Dual ISO correction to get interlaced DNGs. Then I put that DNGs through Dual ISO Processor and it reveal normal corrected DNGs. So I think problem with RawFlow (i use version="1.0").

For all windows user that could be a really puzzling problem when they try to shoot dual iso with crop_mode build. Currently, "right" workflow through MLVP just didn't work with crop_mode mlv files - MLVP produce pics with pink noise.

I've asked MLVP maker to make new version that can support new crop_mode MLV files but he said he can't figure out how to do that.

So currently Win users may not be able to shoot dual iso on crop_mode because of some RawFlow bag that corrupt frames seems randomly.

@DeafEyeJedi Sorry, whole dual iso thing is so complicated - again and again (and again, yes) I'm trying to figure out logic in this process but fail. Sometimes with one type of settings I get decent pictures (DNGs, not CR2), and other time it just don't work... I need to do some tests and later if you'll help me it'd be very kind from your part.

@Danne I'd like to test with new crop mode too but dual iso is very complicated thing and crop mode absolutely raw and experimental so figuring it out with my pretty limited knowledge of shooting at all and english is kind of code learning - tough.

BTW I do know difference between HDR and Dual ISO very well - I'm trying to shoot Dual ISO - it doesn't work (I can't get a logic of this so even if I do decent footage now it doesn't mean I'll get also decent footage with same settings at other place), then I'm trying to shoot HDR. I do, but how to process it? Every time when I try to convert mlv HDR - any program (cr2hdr, ACR) tell me that some metadata is lost... That's why I do have questions on HDR and Dual ISO - not because I think it same (it kind of actually) but because with Dual ISO I can't get a logic of option and with HDR it can't process properly... Sorry for all of this but it's not just curiosity - I do need to make footage with wide dynamic range - wether it HDR or Dual ISO (all of them have their unique flaws).

But I do have huge problem with absolutely abnormal moir/aliasing at dual iso mode - if camera moving a little (even just from wind if on tripod) then there moir/aliasing. If I move my camera (5dMKIII) then moir/aliasing absolutely horrible - like you on acid or something... Hello everybody. Is there workflow/tutorial for HDR video with mlv format? All tutorials/workflows pretty old and reference to some *mov but not mlv files so these tutorials didn't work for mlvs - I've check it.

AWPStar, is there some plans to make MLVP available for experimental 4k crop_mode whom've been announced at 1st april? Currently these mlv files work through complex bunch of scripts.

The non crop file seems ok. After running the file through cr2hdr I get this.


Checking your file frame_000008frame_000024_crop_mode_with_zoom.dng it doesn´t look healthy. So you´re problems are only the crop mode recording with compressed 4k modes? If yes, could you share a small MLV sample instead of a single dng file?

Try to zoom it. Non crop I mean. And how did you running it through cr2hdr? I tried but it just flashing and nothing.

Does anyone have tried Dual ISO in crop_mode? It seems there are problems there. Frames (after Dual ISO Processor) comes with stripes like unprocessed dual ISO frames. At least with x5 (x3) zoom. Is there some solution?

In the directory where MLV_Dump.exe lies, make a .bat file and put this in it:

Drag and Drop the MLV files onto the .bat file.
It will generate Folders with the frames

Previews are there depending on your NLE. I see thumbnails on mac just fine.
You can create any name you want in mlv_dump.

dear devs, is it possible to make at least preview pictures of footages? I know now you try to make h264 proxy possible, but may it be more wise to make preview pictures option and then h264 proxy?

And please, is it possible to tag processed files in RawFlow not just frame001, frame002 etc. (nightmare for postproduction) but rather MLVfileName_001, MLVfileName_002 etc?

Actually I did research before buy that card - I buy it primarily for phantom 4 pro... Anyway, thanks a lot for clarity and last question - is it possible with current experimental 4k build and maximum writing speed of 5dmkIII (100+20mb/s) to write 4k video with 24fps continously? Not really get what 24p in 3840x1536 @ 24p mode mean, may be it is same as 24fps.

mlv_dump is lovely!!  make sure you use the mlv_dump in experiment page. otherwise you end up with noisy pink DNGs. been there before.  or you can try the amazing cr2hdr.app. (note: dont judge the frames by their thumbnails. open them in photoshop to see if they are converted right. and not the first frame also!)
I see you have opened the first frame which is usually pink and corrupted with this mode. have you tried other frames too?!

this is MLV_Lite with this build which is different than the old MLV. MLVRawviewer and raw2cdng can't open it or they deliver pink DNGs instead.

But where is this experiment page? I just download build pack and mlv_dump.exe but what should I do with this exe file? I actually can't understand why it so difficult to write tutorial about how to use these.

And plz explain card spanning concept - is it not make whole speed faster (though it is written CF+SD card speed). It just dump additional data more then 4GB on SD-card? I thought it dump frames that can't fit into buffer (or something like that) and thus it prevent from frame loss and record stop. I have tried to rec on CF only and on CF+SD with card spanning enabling - it showing absoletely identical outcomes - for example 3200х1066 record 7 seconds on both cases, so what is practical benefit of card spanning?

And does soweone know camera cards interface speed limit (5dmkIII)? I do have microSD Lexar 1800x with UHSII adapter that showing ~180mb/s writing when on computer test (h2testw) but with bencmarks on the 5dmkIII it perform tiny ~17mb/s... Actually camera bencmarks also show similar speed with other Sd-cards too. So SD-card interface speed just 17mb/s? It so frustrating with this new speedy card then (((

I'm sorry for necroposting, but does these .m00 files work with MLVP? I'm not sure I have lost some frames/footage so how I can be sure I need these files (it stored on SDcard) or just delete it?

Also I don't get how card spanning is working (it seems it doesn't) for when I enable this mode then at 3200x1200 it record 4 seconds (I checked it with various superfast CF-cards), but with only one CF card it also rec 4 seconds only!

I'm writing in English only through google translation))) I do not quite understand how to make dual iso on video. On youtube there is video, through the program mlvfs was translated into dng, there the same frame turns out dark as with the minimum ISO. So I do not understand why this is so.
