General Development / Re: Old lenses and aperture
December 19, 2012, 08:34:30 AM
There are standalone chip makers who provide standalone chips. Just attach it with any lens and these chips start acting as CPU for that lens. feature are

1. AF confirmation beep.
2. EXIF data

but chip i am using also provides

3. Trap focus (As when camera achieves autofocus it automatically fires shutter)

If anybody can help in software like linking ML and any of these chips, an external motorized focusing rig for all these manual focus lenses can be done. This rig will make all manual focus lenses autofocusing mechanically....aperture controls can also be done.

Can we use very high speed flash synchronization with ML software?

1. Be able to take images with flash speed sync at 1/800 or higher,
2. DSLR Camera mechanical shutters cant do it.
3. Can we use ML + Camera on B + ML software shutter speeds

if yes, than definitely this is a whole new world of creativity....

I and my friend have explored various manual focus lenses. My friend is an expert mechanic and he converted all these lenses to Canon and Nikon mounts. He has also converted some old Canon FD lenses to Canon eos without glass.

My experience is as follows

Carl Zeiss the best

Takumar comes next (specially Pentax takumar medium format lenses) Takumars are really awesome for video people. It just adds a layer of makeup on faces.

Tair Russian brand lens (lovely contrast, sharp and number of blades exceed Canon original fast primes)

I am thinking about making an external motorized focusing system for all these lens.........Can anyone at ML be helpful?????  how both camera and external focusing system will sync and work together........any ML guru would like to help??
