It should be the same but if you follow it step by step maybe you can identify where the issue arises.

Latest version from bitbucket, any reason for audio drop?

Raw Video / [SOLVED] mlv_sound working sometimes
« on: April 12, 2015, 02:09:51 AM »
I was testing out RAW recording on my M1 today, latest nightly Apr.07 and having mlv_sound loaded and activated I got this.
Code: [Select]
- 1296302688 apr 11 19:07 M11-1906.MLV
-    7910444 apr 12 01:09 M11-1906.WAV
- 1855980128 apr 11 19:08 M11-1907.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:18 M11-1907.WAV
- 1250427488 apr 11 19:09 M11-1909.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:20 M11-1909.WAV
- 1283195488 apr 11 19:15 M11-1914.MLV
-    7833644 apr 12 01:21 M11-1914.WAV
- 2434007648 apr 11 19:18 M11-1916.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:21 M11-1916.WAV
-  226767456 apr 11 19:20 M11-1920.MLV
-     652844 apr 12 01:22 M11-1920.WAV
- 1059738208 apr 11 19:21 M11-1921.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:22 M11-1921.WAV
Where the first number is bytes size, so those 44 bytes WAV files means no sound.
The only error ( besides a huge freeze that got fixed by a battery pull ) was  "audio failed to stop, state 4" that I got several times, now that I think about it, it might coincide with those recordings that ended up soundless.

I got my MLVs processed with both latest mlvRAWviewer ( yields those 44bytes .WAV files ) and latest mlvfs ( yields big silent files ) so I guess it's not an extraction issue.

Any ideas?

1)To take a Full Resolution Silent Pic, I have to half press shutter to focus, and then press * to take a shot, is there any simple way, like Hold half press shutter for 3 second and auto take a shot ?
2) Full Resolution Silent Pic need Manual mode, but the shutter speed seem locked at 1/30sec ? Can I increase the shutter speed ?
1. Set up C.FnIV to 1 or 3 then you *-hold to focus and half-shutter press or *-press to take a pic.
2. The actual speed is 1/4 ( ~238 ms ) or worse on the M1, not sure where you see 1/30 though.
BTW, the main FRSP thread is this:

To skip docs build (errors) edit /magic-lantern/Makefile

Code: [Select]

./Makefile-88-# We must build the docs first to use fresh doc/menuindex.txt
./Makefile:89:# during 'make all'. We can't write 'zip: all docs' because
./Makefile-90-# of possible problem in case of parallel build.
./Makefile-91-# (see make's '-j' option documentation)
./Makefile:92:zip: docs
./Makefile-93-  $(MAKE) all
./Makefile:94:  cd $(PLATFORM_PATH)/all; $(MAKE) zip
And on line 92 delete the word docs

To skip 32-bit apps build, edit /magic-lantern/modules/dual_iso/Makefile
Code: [Select]
./Makefile-8-# include modules environment
./Makefile-9-include $(TOP_DIR)/modules/Makefile.modules
./Makefile:11:# include cr2hdr makefile rules
./Makefile:12:include Makefile.cr2hdr
and remove line 12

Another thing I noticed is that in the module folder there are no modules, only .c files.
Did you compile the modules by running make all_modules too?

My compile command line is:
Code: [Select]
make clean && make && make all_modules && cd platform/EOSM.202 && make zip

edit: help: liveview with halfshutter gives me DNG, how to get MLV with FRSP?
Also load mlv_rec module and then in the silent module options select MLV instead of DNG

Just remember when capturing tha the camera must be in manual mode and liveview (not movie mode} exposure should be 1/15 of a second or slower (Alex please correct me if this is no longer true).
Using a slow speed yields even slower times, on my M1:
if I set speed = I get FRSP speed
1/125 = 240ms ( 1/4 )
1/4 = 500ms ( 1/2 )
0.5" = 789ms

Why not test it yourself?

/PS: It works :P

Yes, you were, in fact, correct regarding ExpSim being DISABLED in the ML menu (thus causing the inconsistent back focus) so once I enabled that ON.
Now, this is a bug then?

My M3 has arrived!
My google-fu is weak, why was M2 never tackled in ML? No units available, time, different hardware?

7D2 is not (yet) supported:

two things, why is the shutter limited to 0.8'', i was having wet dreams of full res star trails....
That's the way it works:

edit: It works sometimes if I tap the screen each time but still not entirely consistent.
Can you try to change C.FnIV mode say from 1 to 3 or the other way around after you power on  and then (after first selecting focus point) try a silent pic?

On my M1 it works like this:!oABHHIyb!VNOQugQF-xqmH957FFU4MTHPjZfv2nSugY03P4JFAEU

Insert card, close door, autostart(!?) yields a stuck loader...

Pull the battery, close the door, autostart(!?) yields a success...

Pressing the power button while stuck ( normal or not ) yields a blinking green light only.

Is it normal to autostart like this on door close?

No distributions matching the version for glfw==3.1
I guess... Get the libs first
then get the python bindings ( it's version 1.1.1 of the bindings for GFLW 3 ) ;)

I can repro this if I disable ExpSim, like you have it in all these M1 videos but not in the 5D3 one, with it on works as expected.

AFAIK, the processing tool should load them after the main MLV.
Are you missing footage?

Looking at your last video, it says 40mm f/2.8, I only have the 18-55 and the 22, and they work ok.
Since you use the EF/S converter (right?) maybe it introduces some sort of delay that messes up the 10 cycles wait time, but since it's native for 5D3 it works faster.

Do you have any EF-M lens to test with?

Yeah that's what I know too, but since s/he talked about styles I kinda missed the RAW part... I thought it/I could help... :D

@DeafEyeJedi: It's @a1ex that did the work, I just provided some apparently needed feedback. :D
I just reset ML to defaults, enabled silent (and mlv_rec or not if saving DNG), but it doesn't behave like yours does.

For one, after it takes a FRSP it shows the picture and says
Code: [Select]
<path to file.DNG/MLV...>
Saving 5....x2... ( xxx ms, xx Mb/s)
Captured in xxx ms.
While yours doesn't  or it looks like it does really fast. Do you have image review on or something?

Also, you said "hold * seamlessly after taking FRSP pic" but I did not say that, I was just enumerating the cases, not the steps.
You either single press * and get a picture OR you straight hold it, which in my is case is rather painful as I find the button size good enough for a small japanese girl ( target demographic for the M1 maybe? :D ) than for my chubbymanly hands.

And regarding this, while it focuses it just says "Focusing..." on screen, and it stays like that even if you stop pressing, which in your clips I did not see, did I miss it or ?
