We should all pitch in some cash to buy 100D's for more developers. This would have to be the cheapest camera in the world capable of shooting 720p Raw video, and I'd love to see it happen!
#102
Would it be possible to toggle between ProRes4444 and ProRes422?
#103
Thank you for the files baldand! Much appreciated! And thanks for the info Maverick. It works like I hoped! I can leave sRGB on and then push the blacks if necessary with the Log1-4 Luts. This little program is amazing!
#104
The built in Log Luts are amazing! Having Log5-16 like that is great! Would it be possible to add 1-4 though? Could be useful when combining with other Luts.

Will the 500D shoot 23.976 fps at full 1080 with fps override? In h.264 compressed mode of course?

Oh ok I see. Sad story  :(. Hopeful that someone may figure it out someday though!

General Help Q&A / Re: True Resolution of H.264 Video

Then if this is the case, the 550D would appear to have a higher effective resolution in H.264 video than the 50D I suppose. That is what I was trying to figure out. It's that little bit closer to true 1080. Thanks all for the help! I suppose the only Canon DSLR to shoot true 1080 resolution in both Raw and H.264 would be the 5D3 then?

Thanks for the info! My searches thus far haven't amounted to much. Do you know if it's the liveview resolution that is upscaled by chance?

Feature Requests / H.264 Playback on 50D
August 17, 2014, 10:06:36 PM
I know that the 50D was never intended for video capture in the first place, but is it possible to get H.264 playback working? I find myself turning off Raw in favour of 3X bitrate H.264 at times but being able to play back right away would be awesome!

General Help Q&A / True Resolution of H.264 Video
August 17, 2014, 10:04:00 PM
As someone who owns a 550D as well as a 50D, I've played around with your amazing Raw video features quite a bit. My 50D can create some remarkably sharp footage with the Raw hack. For some projects however, I find the H.264 codec to be satisfactory. So my question is, with the Liveview resolution being only 1584x1058, does that mean my true resolution in H.264 video is not 1920x1080 but actually 1584x891 upscaled? Or is it true 1080P? Just wondering if I'm getting more resolution in video with the 550D, as it's liveview resolution is higher, or are they both the same?

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 50D

Is it possible to make an H.264 playback module on the 50D? For certain projects, using 3X bitrate is just much more practical than raw. Not being able to play back is a killer though.

A step in the right direction thanks! I'm noticing the dynamic range increase without flickering using Mystic. Unfortunately, now all bright areas are turning pink and pixelated. Odd...

Any chance that we will soon be able to record Raw video at 1080 outside of crop mode now that full-res silent pictures has become a reality?
#114
Well I've played some more, mostly using Auto ETTR linked to dual iso, but I've used Adobe DNG Converter to make my files readable by Camera Raw, which seems to work. I'm now getting pink frames and a flickering exposure, and no noticeable impact on my dynamic range. Thoughts?
#115
Could this discovery lead to higher resolutions of Raw video in full sensor mode?

So everything seems to go well when I post-process on my Mac. I have cr2hdr with dcraw and exiftool. I convert the raw file to dngs with RawMagic and then drag into cr2hdr. This is the response.

But after this, my files cannot be read by after effects, or any other program for that matter. What am I doing wrong?

Does anybody have accurate info on which camera's are currently able to run Dual ISO in raw video mode? I keep reading conflicting things.

I see that this has already been added to nightlies for the 7D, 5D3 and 600D. Any news on when the 550D can be tested?

No way to make it work for video. The registers don't work the same. Same for 5DII and probably 7D
So Dual ISO video is a lost cause on the 50D? No possible way it could ever work?

Is Dual ISO working for video with the 50D. I've had issues getting it to work and was told that it may not be working yet for video. Any truth to this?
#121
How do I get Dual ISO to work with video on the 50D. When I turn video on, it won't let me use dual iso. It says [MOVIE] This feature requires you shooting RAW.  I'm using the latest nightly and have Raw enabled... What am I doing wrong? I can only seem to shoot dual iso stills.

Tragic Lantern / Re: Exposure Issues with 50D Raw

I guess my final question would be: How do I ensure that I'm using a shutter speed as close as 1/48 as possible. With the latest nightly, and exposure override on, I can get 1/49, which is great. Do I just ignore that my top screen reads either 1/80 or 1/100?

Oh ok. This all makes a lot of sense. Thank you for ending my confusion! Exposure override does the trick nicely!

I suppose the top screen will likely display it correctly as well, but for some reason I didn't think to check.... Oops...

Yes, I would still say displayed shutter values are incorrect. If you want to see the actual shutter speed with the latest build, just take a picture. Then you will see the real shutter speed, which could be vastly different from the one ML displays.
