This is the first I've heard about compile issues with 600D. Have not used a May nightly so no problems seen here but 600d is my workhorse so I will be keeping an eye out for a resolution on this one. I'm considering going back to to v2.3 and see how much it has changed from Feb and Apr builds I am running now and what I might miss, just for nostalgic reasons.

I ran a series of 120 frames sequences using simulated picture taking but nothing was revealed, no error message was seen for either cam.

So I have 2 600d, 1 running Apr30 and the other Feb25. Shot sequences with both last week and only saw  "raw error" on the Apr30.

I also recently was using intervalometer on 600 D for a night sequence with  a Apr 30 nitely build. Shot under 300 images and recall seeing error messaging on the screen...raw error... with lots of lines of info... after it would take a picture and you could see the live view. As far as I know none of my images were negatively impacted. They look good in cam view. It was like 2 a.m. And I was half drunk in the middle of nowhere Utah desert, so I don't have a record of the actual text. . I did stop the sequence early just to check the images. I don't have any actual plans to shoot more image sequences with the intervalometer soon. I will run simulated pic taking using the intervalometer and see if I can get any more info about the error messaging state. Be on the lookout for issues with intervalometer peeps and try to document the issue well.

I recommend that you start over from scratch following each step in the install guide. It does work for the card sizes you mentioned. Weird issue but you will likely fix it by starting from scratch. Re-update firmware and reset cam settings too.

You've probably change something in the display menu. Go to the display menu and verify settings for LV

I am running nightly feb25 and it works for both of my 600D. I remember it working when I last ran v2.3. None of that helps you though. Make sure you are holding in the SET button as you turn on the device. Make a two handed operation. I must say beyond testing that it worked I never use this bypass option.

Using the cmd console in Windows you can rename files using dos commands.

For files that already exist...Put files from last month into their own directory.
if you are sitting in the same dir as the files  you want to rename, look into something like this.
ren *.mlv *_April.mlv

Which means:
rename all files with extension mlv to the same name but with _April added to the end of the filename

That would allow you to avoid the same filename issue you mentioned without too much hassle. You could choose other ways as well. Search for DOS command rename or ren.

Another solution for future shooting might be to change "File Numbering" option from the Canon Menu (at least in a 600D) to be different in each camera.

in win7 or below typing cmd into the search/run box will bring up the console where you would run the rename command.
Hope that helps.

I agree with with Nostradamus_1. Respect your own work and dont get pushed around. If you know your final CC will be what is needed then try to finesse this client away from micro managing your workflow and time. It sounds like a client/partner relations issue and dont let that carrot of " lots of  future work" compromise how you do what you do. If he does not understand that the footage is not graded or CC'd then it should not be your responsibilty to do extra work so he can see post production results out of sequence. That said, if the money is good and the crap is worth dealing with  for 29 more movies then follow the money. If you think the footage is substandard, reshoot it. Everyone has room for improvement, if you think you need some for lighting, shooting or processing GS footage, grind thru youtube. There are many great tutorials for both shooting and processing DSLR GS footage to deal with proper screen removal, spill, shadows, and all the other crap that you face with actors on GS.  It isn't a simple subject if you want great results but a PS isn't gonna make things better. Good luck.

Been using since 2.3 come out. Just a shout out to the ML crowd. I just downloaded and am running  a recent nightly build. Did a focus stack today that  turned out great. It was really just a test but was so impressed with the ease of execution that I had to login and say that I HEART Magic Lantern. Shooting with nifty 50 @ f2 shooting an orchid and thought "I should do a focus stack to get the flower in the back and the one in the front both in focus". Sure I can manually focus a stack but why worry when ML will do it for me and with precision. Auto Blend in PS and wow, lovely deep DOF image is produced.  Have not been here for months and I get back to read about RAW video across the Canon DSLRs. You guys are amazing. I know it is boring to hear someone praise focus stacking so I will quickly list the "cant do without" features... focus peak, zebras, Auto WB, Overlays, and several others I can't seem to list but I have come to expect on my Canons.  I would be lost if I hit the Delete button and no ML was there. Cheers and keep up the good work.

I will be reviewing all of the menus, starting with AUDIO and will document each menu so that that can be reviewed for correctness and accuracy. Also I already know that there are option within ML that I dont understand fully enough to speak with authority and will need assistance from those who do know why a particular option should be chosen. My initial effort is not to explain how each option works but to confirm that the options, in-camera text, icons and ui functionality are correct. Basically doing UI testing. I will be updating this daily so if it looks incomplete, you know why.

My first thought is that you formatted the card on your PC and the bootflag is enabled which means your camera will not start, since there are no ML files on the card. Use EOScard deal with a card in that state.

EOScard:

Let us know how that works out or what else you did to fix the issue.

Looks like it was a fun weekend.
I would recommend some color grading post work to refine a look for the film, since it is not a final edit. Maybe some addl work on the "dad going up stairs" scene to include customized looks to convey the mental chaos, which might be using color tints to those quick cut scenes. Experiment and see if you like the results. Consider the same concept for the ending scenes where everyone ends up in bed with the boyfriend.

"Have fun fn my daughter" is a very funny line.

The effect you want can be achieved with custom picture styles. Some folks have posted custom pic styles on this site. Search for Sin City, I recall using this last year.

As you stated the 2x3 grid disappears during rec, the cropmark will stay on during rec by default, in v2.3. So to solve the problem a cropmark is needed. The best one for your purpose in my opinion is the CRSSMTR2 cropmark. Turn off grid in Canon MENU and use cropmark for framing.

Then there is custom cropmarks. I have not made any or even tried so i cant comment on the process for custom cropmarks.

Neat Video can probably help but it isnt free. I tried the demo in After Effects and I really liked the results. Easier and better than manually de-noising. You can easily find it on the web. There a bunch of others too, some free, some not.

Also set the aperture wide open, reduce shutter speed and shoot in the most lighted areas.

MacBoot for Mac might help you. Do a search for that in this forum to find out where to get it. Dont have a mac so I cant comment on its functionality.

I used EOSCard (win) to deal with a "broken" card.
It might be an issue due to bootflag enabled on the card. Maybe not. Worth a try.
