[F] mode of naming had the problems i previously posted. But changing the naming mode to [F]_[D] cleared the problem now...

@chmee.. thanks for the great application. Could you also please check whether the flickering issue in Resolve is due to the converter? because 1.4.9.7 version had no flickering issues after rendering the color corrected output, however there were audio syncing complaints which was rectified in beta 3. But, in beta 3, I get the flickering issues in resolve once again. Audio syncing is perfect. Roundtrip is good except that i have to manually link the footage, as usual. Because the flickering was absent when i used cdngs from 1.4.9.7 and present when i use beta 3, i think there is an association. Pls see to that friend... thanks

friends I could not render out the footage correctly from Resolve. The audio gets jumbled and only one out of two different footage is rendered. I shot using .mlv with audio enabled, beta3 converter, 5dIII, march 2014 update. The footage preview was good, had syncing audio in mlrawviewer. I also ticked "autosync based on timecode" in resolve... anything wrong that i ve done? also the last audio file is slightly lengthier than the video file.. thanks

Modules Development / Re: MLV PLAY (mlv_play.mo)
April 30, 2014, 06:05:36 PM
hi am using march 2014 update for 5d3. I shot in .mlv and while in playback, i could not completely watch the preview. For ex: if the total frames is 731, the playback stops at 200 or 300 and while pressing play button again, it goes further till 600 frames and when left to repeat the playback, it plays till the end of 731 frames and does not start from the 1st frame but starts from 160th frame... any mistake that i am committing? or will it be like this ? thanks

Raw Video / Re: 2014: NEW Current Raw Capabilities
April 21, 2014, 01:19:44 PM
hi i would like to stay with 1.1.3 for a while because i have started using it for a serious video purpose. But i have been noticing that .mlv can be preferred to .raw since it is under focus by developers currently. I would like to know if continuous shoot can be done with .mlv_rec, greater than 4GB file, without splitting? like in .raw?? if so how? thanks
#55
chmee, it crashed while converting the .raw files to cdng.. i did nothing, did not even try to preview. Just drag and dropped, clicked convert, it processed for a few seconds and got crashed, the 1.5.0 beta 2 version

hi, is 5d3 1.2.3 no more a bleeding edge? can newbies try installing the ML on 1.2.3 5d3? from what i gone through the threads, it seems like .raw works pretty well than .mlv which currently is slightly unstable. Sorry i got to go through the entire thread to find the latest update.
#57
i dropped 4 .raw files, each 6-11gb. The converter crashed. something needs to fixed? thanks
#58
hi.. sometimes my footage does not play in MLRawViewer, the screen is fully black, I thought its a mistake and proceeded to convert the .raw to cdngs. The converter shows "0 FPS" and crashes. The footage is 1.5 to 2gb in size. Is that footage a shooting mistake? i don't think so bcos other footage are good. Am I wrong at something? Why would that happen? (the take I okay-ed is unfortunately showing this error  :-[)
#59
unfortunately, I am using windows. Any solution? thanks

hi, i have been shooting for over a month using 5d3 .RAW (latest 113 build). The file names look M(date)-HourMinute... from my understanding. Yesterday, the last file's name was M14-0504. My doubt is there will be another file with same name while I shot last month 14th, exact time. I do resolve-premiere roundtrip and file naming is extremely important. Will this not be a problem or someone find me a solution?? heard somewhere that renaming file to our convenience could make roundtrip worse. Thanks

thanks Olivier57.. that would be a good alternate. Also Nuke is good with .exr. I thought because of quality degradation, converting cdng to dpx10 or exr would be lossy. Anyways, that being a standard, I will have to do that.  ;)
#63
hi, i am trying to open .cdng files in Nuke. With J_Ops plugin, I could only open a single frame of .cdng file in Nuke 7.0. The sequence could not be opened as usual, like in .exr pics. Pls help me out. How do i import the entire .cdng sequences? thanks
#64
version 1.4.9.7 works well with .raw files.. i tried with files greater than 7 GB and multiple files.. great Chmee... thanks
#65
chmee: "because i didnt tested the actual version with RAW, this could be a silly bug. thanks for info.
did you enabled the logfile? please link/show it via pastebin.
are you using a newer firmware with audio-support?

regards chmee"

I am sorry, but what is logfile and how to enable it?
I used .raw files. Also i request for fixing bigger (greater than 6GB) raw files getting crashed while converting.
i am using the latest firmware, both in ML and raw2cdng. I am using raw and not mlv, so no audio. By the way, which is preferable for the converter, .raw or .mlv?? thanks
#66
hi chmee, whenever raw2cdng crashes or even when i extract cdngs, there are additional empty folders with somewhat similar name styles created in the same directory. Example: M121643J_C0001_B16LINMAX (when software crashed while extracting .raw file), M121644K_C0001_B16LINNOR (empty folder1 after mlvs were extracted), M121643J_C0001_B16LINNOR (empty folder2, after mlvs were extracted)... the actual folder's name M121653K_C0001_B16LINNOR (contains all the cdngs from mlv file).. am i doing something wrong?

i changed the master project settings, export and other render settings to 23.976. Now i don't mind resolve or premiere showing me 24fps. But i still get the grey line at the top of some frames in clips. I heard somewhere that resolve's default is 1920x1088 and since we record at 1920x1080, it shows so... I can only correct it by adding a letterbox, or by changing the viewing format to 2.35:1 aspect ratio. New problem is that i get whole clips flickering (graded and ungraded) after I do color correction manually. I don't see this when applied LUT. Why would that be? how can i correct it? thanks
#68
I could not shoot at 24, because this being an independent cine project. I should shoot at 23.976 so that it would be compatible while converting the footages for Digital Cinema Package (DCP). I just would like to know if others are also facing the same problem (resolve and premiere showing 24fps even after shooting with 23.976)?? so that i will know my camera settings is wrong. Thanks.
#69
i am working with 3gb geforce gtx 780, 32gb ram, i7 4770 3.5gz... i think this will be ok for davinci. I will update the grey line problem after reinstalling resolve and creating a new project thanks.. Also, even after i set 23.976 in ML and canon, premiere pro and resolve shows it to be 24fps. This problem persists. I don't know why. Is this because the cdngs are image sequences and there can be no decimals, so rounding it to 24??
#70
i shot without ML card.. recorded in h264. I directly played the h264, no problem. I imported to premiere pro and exported the media, no problem. I imported the h264 to Resolve and exported, there were grey lines at the top of some frames when played. This carried to premiere when i imported those files. So, nothing wrong with ML, but with davinci resolve.. am i right? How can i rectify this? reinstall resolve?
#71
hi I set the resolve settings to 23.98 and exported through 23.98. I still get the flickering grey line at the top in rendered output and consequently in premiere. I am using magic lantern raw for an independent cine project. I also set frames per second to 24 in canon menu. 1) can I set fps in magic lantern menu? 2) Why is resolve and premiere showing me the fps to be 24 when I shoot at 23.976 as this may affect the roundtrip?
#72
while i shoot, it shows like the footage is shooting at 23.976 in camera's display. Also, raw2cdng shows the same 23.98 fps. But resolve shows the frame rate to be 24. How to set 23.976 in 5d mark iii under magic lantern menu?
#73
i often use iso 2500 ML, 6400 canon, -1.5ev... for night shots.... and iso 25-100 for day shots... shutter speed often to 1/50 (bcos my frame rate is 23.976).

I use windows, so i export the intermediary files using quicktime mpeg4 or quicktime h264 for roundtrip. I once got this issue and learned that aspect ratio needs to be set correctly. The problem was then cleared. It now reappears despite the frame rate and aspect ratio settings corrected.
#74
friends, i shot some footage with ML (feb 14 update, nightly build) 5d mk III. I set the frame rate to 23.976 while shooting and it shows so in the raw2cdng software correctly. In resolve10, it shows 24fps and even after changing the master project settings, the rendered out clips are 24fps. I also found this when i imported the clips to premiere pro cc 7.2.1. May be because of this change in frame rate, the rendered clips and clips inside premiere show grey lines on the top of some frames like below. Or might the setting of frame rate and aspect ratio be wrongly done while shooting? help me out... pls.. next week i have a commitment.. thanks.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: The CinemaDNG Discussion
February 23, 2014, 08:51:27 AM
has any faced problem with the following workflow? CDNG to resolve and edit all the footage in resolve itself, color correct and export it to premiere pro (with timeline xml) for perfect trim, transition effects and do mastering from premiere..
