The real capacity  of a 32GB card is always ~2GB smaller.
That's because windows count in GiB without saying it !, but when you check the properties you can see that the space is pretty close from 32GB (for my card : 31 855 968 256 bytes)

What you you using to recompile the files into video?  Virtual Dub?

For my part I import the DNG sequence into after effects, apply some color correction/white balance with camera RAW and then export a lossless video, which can be edited in Premiere.

I don't have a card fast enough to record at 720p at the moment, but to try to give you an answer (and bump)... I think a 32 GB card will hold ~13 minutes of RAW video.  Please correct me if I'm wrong anyone out there running 720p RAW video.

At 1476x626 23.976 the RAW video bitrate stands around 35MB/s , so in a 32 GB Card we can theoretically record around 15 minutes of RAW.

EDIT : Magic lantern says the bitrate is around 35MB/s when recording but after verification the real bitrate is around 38 MB/s .
(RAW File 1476x626 for 273 [email protected] = 430 249 KB)
So the recording time on a 32GB card is more like 14 minutes.

Here is a video shot in RAW 1476x626 with ML alpha from last july (not the latest build so, I'll test the RAW from earlier versions soon).

All infos are in the video description.

Hi every one, i´ve been reading to many threads and im very confused right now about installing magic lantern on my canon t4i,and i just bought a juiced link pream to conect my Rode Shotgun mics, and hypercardoid directly to my camera and it woks pretty well like recording audio separately.  but i read that audio doesnt work with magic lantern right?, so if is there a solution for this, because this preamp works great.

Then i have another question i bougt a PNY 64 gb 35 mbs sd card, and i read like you need more write speed on your card or something, and that is more difficult to install magic lantern on 64gb cards.   I need some help, my head feels like is going to explode and my brain is so hot i feel like is melting.

HELP PLEASE!! :-\

1) Magic Lantern additional audio function doesn't work (like audio meter), but Canon audio functions still works fine : when you install Magic Lantern, It only adds functions, nothing is replaced in the Canon firmware. So all you can do without ML can be done with ML.

2) It appears you can't install ML with a 64gig card. Precisely, you can't use a 64gig card to set the bootdisk flag of the camera.
So, follow the instructions and install ML with a 32gig card or less (=set the bootdisk flag in the camera).
Once the bootdisk flag is setted in the camera, you can install ML on other cards, including 64gig one's by copy/paste your ML files on your 64gig card and enable the bootdisk and EOS_develop flag of the card manualy with EOS Card (on windows).

650d/T4i has maximum write/read speed around 40mb/sec . Generaly ML User wants the maximum speed for shoot RAW video.

I've upgraded to ML today's build (August 8 and Canon firmware 1.0.4).

But Pico scripts doesn't work (when I hit "run script", the camera switch back to the shooting screen, and says "script running, press set to hide/show".
And if I press set, nothing happens (regarding to the script).

Any ideas why ? Does someone managed to run a PicoC script on a 650d 1.0.4 ? I've also tried yesterday build and multiple script (which worked before I upgrade to 1.0.4).
And if i come back to the script menu, I can't stop the script and need to remove the camera battery.

Thanks.

Does performing a re-installation of the "official" Canon 1.0.4 firmware uninstall ML completely, or is that only performed through running the installer again with an "uninstall" command?  Would like to test on a camera and then reset/remove ML.  Have not yet used ML (personally), so sorry if this is a newbie question.

Has anyone tested the HDMI output on the 650D/T4i?  Curious if mirroring is possible.  Not necessarily "clean" output, but being able to use the internal/built-in monitor as well as an external HDMI monitor at the same time (without the internal going black).

I've the same question concerning the official firmware update behavior (does it unset the bootflag ?). For beeing sure, I guess unistall ML before updating is the best thing to do...

Concerning the miroring, It actually doesn't work : while plugin an HDMI or a VGA Cable, the internal screen switch off.

Well first I'd like to say thanks to Nanomad, seems like you really went out of your way here so chears to you! I have one question, where is the raw video option? I can't seem to find it. Thanks a bunch :)

You need to load the module (RAW_Rec) under the Module Menu, and then you will found a RAW Rec option under the Video menu.

So in order to update my version of ML running on fir 1.0.1 , I need to unistall ML by lauching again the firmware update (with file "650D-S~1.FIR", then download and install the official 1.0.4 firmware from Canon, and install lastest ML version again, right ?

Hi,

For people interesting in a 32gb card, i've receive my Sandisk Extreme 32gb 45mb/s class 10 purchased on amazon France for 32€.

I immediately benchmark it on ML, and results are very good !

Read and write speed around 40MB/s (seems to be the maximum speed for the 650d)

Max write speed : 41.3 MB/s (16384k buffer)
Max read speed  : 43.5 MB/s (16384k buffer)

That's a good constructor : announce 45MB/s, and almost made it !

Hi,

I've installed ML on my 650d this morning, everything (almost) work fine, thanks to the developers !
Sorry if I repeat things, but I haven't read the 20 pages of this post  :-[

The way the bootdisk flag work on the camera is interesting : if the SD Card in the camera is not bootable, the original Canon firmware is launched. So for enable/disable ML on a SD Card you just have to change its bootflag, no need to touch on the camera. (I say this for people who did'nt notice this feature... At least it work as it on my camera).

3 little questions :
- I am probably missing something, but where is the "play" button on the camera ? (used to re-call a focus point for example).
- I plan to buy 32gb class 10 SDHC (Lexar 400x) ... No problem with ML ?
- Does any sdk isset for control the camera with PC through magic lantern ? (I'm developing a scriptable application with canon SDK, mainly for assign wireless controller buttons like Xbox360 Controller to camera functions, but Canon don't allows you for exemple - if i'm not mistaken - to access in live to focal and focus ring position).

Bug I've noticed : focus picking doesn't work while HDMI display is used.

Thanks.
