I am playing with silent pic feature (very intriguing feature indeed) I only have a problem:

I found that it fires either when half pressing the shoot button,  but also when pressing the zoom- button.... and also when pressing the camera DOF button. Is it a feature? :o

Is it possible to assign silent pic shooting to just one button  (possibly not the zoom- one, since zooming is very commonly used just for precise focus checking).

Thanks for help  :D

Thanks guys, I have succesfully substituted my old nightly build ( usual procedure)   and it seem everything is working fine, at first glance.

I couldn't see much difference  ::) If it isn't too much, may I ask what major improvements since last year version?

thank you Walter Schulz

is it the "old" 2.3 mentioned in the NB page, is the "stable one" that you' re referring here?

hi,
same confusing situation here.  :-\
I couldn't follow the development of ML for my 600D since  2014...

I have the Nightly-2014 april21 600D
fd63cf05214  Mercurial changesest(unified)tip
[email protected]
Still installed on my camera

What should I do to update my camera to the latest ML ?

Do I have to simply install the latest Nightly build over it (using the usual replace files procedure),  or there are other steps that  should I perform?

P.S. Is it the 600D  dead? I searched the board but I couldn't find it anymore.  :-[ :'(

Thanks  :)

:D Audionut, I am investigating why that version (as any other version I could find) it  doesn't work anymore for me (I've got it work before, I am using win xp pro sp3 32 bit).

Beside the fact that cr2hdr.exe just appear and then disappear when I drag a dual iso image on it,  I also noted that the dcraw.exe in this version is not a valid 32bit application, so I can argue it can't work.

Possible corrupted files?

Recent update

I've got cr2hdr.exe work again, but very strange way...
I dowloaded and installed as many  older dcraw.exe versions from here
http://www.insflug.org/raw/Archives, until cr2hdr started to run....
and now it run perfectly, even if I remove  dcraw.exe ....
does it make sense?
BTW, I'm really happy I can continue shoot dual iso photo. :) :D :D

The first post of this thread, contains the latest stable build of cr2hdr for windows.

You can drag and drop a bunch of files onto the exe, and it will batch convert all of them.

Audionut..
...  it doesn't work: cr2hdr just flash and then close when I drag a file on it, while dcraw say that "not valid win32 application" ... (that's strange because dcraw 9.19 is working fine, for istance ), that's make me think is a 64 bit version...

I  played with dual iso for a while, and now  I' am addicted to it.
Few days ago I had the necessity to restore an image of my OS (winxp-Sp3- 32bit).Now  I can't get cr2hdr  working anymore.
I have spent several hours in the last two days downloading and installing a dozen different zip and files from any source I could find on the net. I had re-read a lot of post here, on ML forum, about dual iso.
I j had luck to convert 1 single dual iso image by starting cr2hdr from command line, but processing one file at a time from command, is too boring task.
I also tried Barracuda Gui, but it crash....

Possible questions/solutions:
1) do anyone know where to download a working version for win xp? (I'm just guessing it could be an Os dependant issue)
2) is it there some other file required that I'am missing in my OS installation (apart cr2hdr.exe/ dcraw.exe /exiftool.exe?)
3) is it cr2hdr.exe the only tool to process dual iso cr2, or an alternative exist?
4) is it possible to process several files with cr2hdr.exe from command line?

Thanks for any help

(I feel  I'am dumb for asking this, sorry :-(

Hi Walter shultz, done, no result. Even tryed a fresh install from scratch: formatted a card in exFat, installed ML 2.3 via EOS card utility, deleted everything and replaced with a night build: the last working one is the one mentioned above, oh, just curios to ask.

since build 01-02-2014  any  other version I try to install on my 600D  it give me "error loading modules"
... I wonder why, any one else?

What is the latest nightbuild where there is the latest specific improvement for the 600d?

A1ex, I visited the link, I knew that thread from before I posted my question..

sorry I don't understand the other replies...  are related in some way to my question?

it is difficult to explain exactly, two symptoms mainly: a lot of grain especially in dark areas, even at low Iso and bright lighting conditions, and the settings that doesn't match... ??? (taking photos in ML, no video)
Thanks for the link, I will give it a try.

any SW suggestion? I wish to check if I have a faulty sensor. I found Raw image analyzer but
it seem to me  it is not intended for such use, and it is quite complex to learn how to use it.

Do someone know about any method, to check whether the  performances of a sensor falls within the standard parameters?  ::)

General Help Q&A / Re: 600D: ETTR and Expo limits reached
December 06, 2013, 11:05:44 AM
I've read another topic where ity is said that ETTR is not working at all on 600D, hence removed from the latest ML version for 600D: is it back?

I noticed the exact same thing on a recent shoot.  So I reverted back to a 5-30 build,  prior to the new memory and new layout, no more problems.  I think they are pushing the 600D a little too hard.

Same here:-) what is the max safe temperature?

Any new news on Aettr for 600D? i miss it..

Cheers,
I missed it too. The feature tab needs to be updated, since AETTR for 600D is signed as active. ::)

My workflow isn't perfect since I don't use expensive software. But I'm happy with it. It's time consuming, but I'm happy with the result.

Would you give me some detail, pls ?

thanks :D

Thanks all for your replies.

This thread it is turning too difficult for me to manage.

After some reading:
http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/products_y7.htm
http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/openraw_tragedy.htm

and others, :P I get to the conclusion that probably the ML project is DNG oriented, because standardization, and the DNG format,  at the present is the only succesfull attempt in such direction. (and If not that, who care?)

I also realized  that I did  asked a malformed question (but I realized it later), so I couldn't avoid to receive odd answers.

This one is really cryptic (I just love it).

Q:    Why RAW insn't Cr2 (and it is DNG, instead?)
RE:  And why on earth do you want to have a converter that creates useless .raw video files from usable .cr2 image files?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to people

@CFP..... And if you need a video that shows the (very poor) possibilies you have with the 600D, search on YouTube. You'll see that it has some serious hardware limit
(thanks for motivating me further.....to sell my just-bought-for-that, 600D).I am not serious here.

question:  at a first glance the video looks nice(!)
In your opinion, considering also the post production job, how much better is this, if compared with the best result obtainable without using ML?

@A1EX    Thanks for advice about SRAW potential danger. I came across this issue,  I had just formatted my card with the EOSCARD as you suggested in a dedicated topic, and this saved me.

I will continue to search how to set up a low end postproduction workflow.

Take care.
