Mirror and shutter are different things.

Yeah, mark iii (the default) is the longest. So if one put another camera name and replace other symbols with zeros, everything goes right )

Hello, is there any side, for good Setting for ML... thx
Every possible setting may be good for some purpose ;)

It is not neccessary to know such a scary words like "compile" to actually hardcode the camera model into the raw2dng. You can use any good text editor with HEX view function to find particular string (Canon EOS) in file and repalce it with appropriate camera model. As I did for my 650D for example.
Just make sure you keep the length of the document and put zeros into characters that should be empty.

(Notepad ++ with HEX plugin)
Also... you'll feel like a real hacker right )))

Use resolutions multiples of 16 for PDR to work. E.g. 1536 x 640 works fine.
By the way, if you are interested in fine color detail, PDR is the only way to go for now.
Check the PDR thread for more info about that.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: PinkDotRemover tool 650D

PDR tool is for removing focusing pixels. These green dots in overexposed areas has different nature. They do not belong common pattern, so you should remove them with bad pixel removal functions of any raw processor in order to remove them only in overexposed areas, and not all over the image.

It is not so hard to drag a single slider in your raw app ;)

Well, like you said it

Kinda, under perfectly controllable case scenarios and specific resolutions should be ok.

Real world scenarios not so much :)

Then may be you should be more specific, because I use my 650D for commercial work now quite fine, PDR does it's dedicated job nicely, that's why I don't bother updating or fixing it.
If you tell me scenarios, when it doesn't work, then there will be a point to deal with it.

Shame, wish i  knew a thing our two about these staff, all i know is how to be patient and wait.

But what are you waiting for exactly? PDR kinda works, right?

how many frames can be done on t4i, with 1728 wide and aspect ratio of 2.39? the calculation says 41 mb/s. thanks.
175-177 frames at 1728x720 @23.976 fps
Highest write speeds currently are lower than actual SD controller limit. 38.6 – 38.7 MB/s for 650D.

So, what's the problem? Just go to Modules menu, enable raw_rec and shoot some raw )
#86
Firmware is good, but have you installed Magic Lantern? ))
By the way, ML for 5d3 works with 1.1.3, but not with the latest.

А смысл? Попрактиковаться в raw workflow? )

Digital ISO has no effect on raw recordings, as well as Picture Styles ;)

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access any kind of MLV player

In Modules Menu select mlv_play and press Q. Read the description.

Assuming the same aspect ratio for both you can just divide 1920 by the width of the recording then multiply that by the crop factor of the sensor,  MKII Full Frame  would be 1920/1880 * 1.0 = 1.02 crop etc...

Well, technically CF = CF=DIAG35mm / DIAGsensor, so you should divide diagonals, not horizontals.
By the way, the resolution of the whole sensor is differ for different cameras. It is 1920 on 5dm3, but in case of 600D it's 1728.

e.g. 1880 is the real horiz. resolution of 5dm2, so no crop.

I was considering 60D...

No no, 60D has only 21MB/s SD controller. 650D for example will be much better. It beats 1280x720 continious easily. I have one and i'm shooting at 1536x640 usually.

Anyone have any success doing slow motion with 550D?

I tried doing 60fps override, but I only got 24fps.  I used "exact fps" method.  Only 24fps was captured.  boo.

Go to Canon menu and set the Video System to NTSC, then in video tab choose 1280x720p 60fps

Rewind, have we been successful? Last time I tried this a month ago, I couldnt get the output to convert. Every time I recorded something and tried to convert it, I got the message "this is not interlaced ISO" or something along those lines.

I'd be interested in testing it again.

Works perfectly for me

I think it should be mentioned that setting the image quality to jpeg allows you to record more frames (as the buffer size is bigger) on some cameras (for instance 7D).

On other cameras, say 650D, contrarily, setting RAW gives more memory.
#99
Well... so do you think it is managed somehow differently actually?

Around 21MB/s actually. Other way, how even were we able to shoot raw video at say 1200x496? ;)
