@chmee, I hope the cdng metadata from the bolex  will help with the problem in  Premiere Pro CC  ;)

@dariSSight,  will I do like the 16mm look that it has, I can see I lot of uses for that camera.
first I like the fact it has a global shutter, so no more problems in paning & quick camera movements,
Its records 12bit raw to a  SSD , XLR in and out, full size hdmi connector , 2k resolution
It would be great in events, or documentaries, studio camera etc...
the price is very good around $3200, about the same price as 5D3.

Hear a quick look at the spec of the camera, from there website

Hey everyone the new New Digital Bolex 16mm Raw Camera is out,
it Record to 12bit CDNG's in 2k , Philip Bloom has one I guess and he
made some cdng's available for download.
I loaded them up in Premiere Pro, and had no issue viewing there. Color was bang on.
They claim there is 12 stop DR. It has a 16mm sized CCD sensor with a global shutter.
I Zipped up a shot of 56--2k frames and if you like you can download them and check them out
from my dropbox link:  the file  is 117.96 MB

I just kill all overlays in the 5D2 and record MLV/RAW and HDMI
with my ninja recorder, pick a resolution you know is continuous
and full card, use the time code on recorder to know
the duration etc..  Works for me  :)

What Version of FCPX are you on 10.1.1 ? or 10.9 ?
Are you working at 24 fps or 23.976 fps ? make sure the project setting match.

@ A.D. Great Job !
The new mlv build, at lest with the hack crop view build,
is very fast  :) I was able to maintain around 73MB/s
at 1872x936 23.976p 2:1 A.R. fps override=on, GD=off  around 49GB, 17,294 frames + Audio
with hdmi preview, buffer 1. But not with any hdmi device connected.
when you return for recording the ML overlays come back without refreshing LV.

With hdmi, 1856x928 23.976p + audio, buffer 0, 19,829 frames 55.9GB
No cashes or lockups with hdmi , ML overlays returned to LV.

Crop mode 1920x960 23.976p + audio, buffer 1, hack view preview
8200 frames, 24.5GB,
2048x872 23.976p + audio, buffer 1, Continuous 20,227 frames, full card (64GB)
No error or problems,  2 thumb up !
I like the new look of the info bar at the bottom of screen & small text (I use the 4:3 screen auto layout).
Things are looking very good,  ;D

Checking the nighty build magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2014Feb04.5D2212 with HDMI.
I had a crash/lockup --Error 70, I haven't seen that for a few mouths.

Zacuto Evf, 5D2, GD=off, buffer=0, preview=hack view, canon menu small raw=photo,
mlv+audio 1856x928, 23.976p, fps override=on, audio=4800
42GB, 14,785 frames. Skipped frame then stop recording then a few second later error 70.
Preview the clip in  MLVBrowseSharp played fine off card, had errors "5 frames missing mlv id"
But ok.

I put the Log crash file in my dropbox for the developers to look at
https://www.dropbox.com/l/rLZWcQKMRtOKZK7LMe2Wjd  :)

haha! @reddeercity, I was editing my post when you posted. Yeah, the 5D2 does not have issues so much so I was not testing it with this build. I'm still on a.d.'s Jan 6 and 14 combo.

BUT then, they can only use this when the camera is not recording anyway since the camera would have corruption which sometimes also flashes via hdmi,
so the only way for those with external recorder to record is to do so ONLY on the external and not in cam.
I don't see that problem with 5d2,  I record the hdmi stream at the same time as raw or mlv.
there's no issue with corruption on the save hdmi stream.
I do see the flashes via hdmi once in a while in standby mode thou, but never when recording.

this is another proof that the EDMAC is the bottleneck, even when HDMI output is enabled.
so the best fix would be dropping frames on HDMI display (somehow...) for every n-th frame.
Would this affect the 60i hdmi stream being captured to a hard drive recorder on the 5d2?
I use the that as my backup/proxy.

I gotta ask again. Several pages ago I asked the same thing.
Its regarding crop mode and the black edge I get. It's not that I use it that often, but it would be very if I got it to work properly.
I've done complete re-installs and then it works for like a day or maybe just one or two takes then the blackedge returns. This has been on every single build I've tried.
See dng: https://www.dropbox.com/s/szlkhtc9nagsjsp/M26-1648-000004.dng
Does anyone else experience this and do you know how to fix it (for good)?
Kharak.
Nice shot, Yes I get that black edge on the right also, at 2152x#### in crop mode but in older builds
with the 1880 enabled , Never notice in MLV thou, is this on the older raw format ?
In the latest MLV nightly build feb,2 in crop mode the max size is 2144x####,
So I think it must be that ML is capturing a bigger area then the crop window is displaying.
I guess just crop it out that's what I use to do, but now I just use 2048x#### .

Installed the nightly Build MLV from Feb.2nd on 5D2,
A great improvement !, got 18,887 frame about 55GB.
At 1856x928 23.976p + Audio, Hacked preview, fps over ride on & I change the picture quality
in the canon menu to small raw instead of small jpeg, buffer 1,GD off, on Lexar 64GB 1000x
Then had a frame skip, but that when things when wrong.
It give kept recording , press the start/stop button it just starts a new file ,had to power off.
I also check with a short clip of about 1000 frame some thing press stop just starts a new file.
There is no way of turning it off unless you power down.
The problem is from the H264 movie auto restart, turn that off and there is no problem.
With the 55GB file a check with MLV Browser Sharp, and had a error, flash red on the clip.
error was "8 frame missing MLV ID" did play ok.
Also at 1872x936 23.976p I got 38GB about 13,000 frames buffer 1, hack preview.
In Crop mode 1920x872 23.976p 38 GB.

I have my Live View/Movie func. set. set to 1920x1080 @24

I turned my FPS override off and it sets the recording at 23.976. I can't work at that FPS.

Recording at 1872x1054

So what's happening there?
you will not get very many frames at 1872x1054 maybe 30 second to 1 min
and that's a Big Maybe !
You might get 1872x1012 for about 1-2 min. Better chance at 1856x1004 but without any hdmi.
The max sensor size on 5d2 is 1880x1250, to get 1920x1080 in the Canon menu
canon upscale  the image for h264.

@ted; do you get the same full card record with buffer at 0 or 1, or just at buffer 4
I can only get continuous at buffer 0 or 1, at buffer 4 my Lexar records for about 2 min then stop.
Just wondering , it my be the different between card brands.
#1988
I always have fps override enable at all Times .
I use NB Jan 1 & sound from A.d. Jan 14
And global draw  off when recording mlv+audio
But I use hdmi, Evf 1856x928 2:1 23.976p fps
My buffer is set to 1, I have notice that , 0 or 1
Seemed to be the fastest 2-4 stop recording after
A minute or less.
:)
#1989
He (bnvm) must be talking of the 5d3 , I don't see these issue on my 5d2 with mlv+audio
on nb build Jan1st plus sound from Jan14th.
Its rock solid , just I bit slow  :)
#1990
Do you get the error 70 without Magic Lantern
Installed & running on the camera?
#1991
Use the A.E. Premiere Pro Work around, thought Dynamic link
I posted a short video on that. You maintain the True Raw workflow.
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8177.msg86395#msg86395

Why are you Stepping on the Quality of the image ?
.Avi is find but QT, .MOV is better, On a PC I would save my Working File ( Intermediate Codec )
To Blackmagic RGB QT, with Trillons Color That' the close to the raw as a Video clip on the PC,
for editing. Or on the Mac it would be Prores4444 .The Best way is with ACR & A.E. to make Video File.
You can use the MLV Viewer Sharp to extract DNG+wave or just Raw+wave then convert it  with CDNG's
That's my workflow:MLV> Raw+wave> raw2CDNG>etc..

I cleared camera settings, user settings and custom functions. Anything else I should try?
What build are you using? Try pressing the info button 3 or 4 time to bring back live view.
This was very common on the older ML raw builds, (per-December) I use to have problem all the time
with HDMI EVF & HDMI recorder attach , Turn off the Camera  remove battery for 10 second
reboot good to go. If you use the new Raw MLV build this problem is not there anymore.
If you still want to use the old build with HDMI, Bootup Camera First then plugin
the HDMI, that should keep the Stable for a short time. your overlays will not display right
but will not crash. Use the MLV_raw.mo from Jan1st to Jan6st they work no problem with HDMI
;)

Hi All, got a email from RedShark News and Sony has a new free Media cloud service in beta right now & you can signup
and get a free 5GB account. I's called "Sony Ci" Link below:
https://www.sonymcs.com/
So if you have a client or whatever and need them to review & approve video, just upload and there is a rough cut editor,
video review and audio review. Run it chrome or Safari has tools to Hi light objects or people etc.. then make comments.
Displays the timecode, crop windows, etc... play a round with 1080p mp4 work good but only 500Kb upload speed ,
maybe with a paid account you will get better upload speeds.  :)

Edit : there a share function also and you can set a expiry date for downloads

I have a 7in Haier Monitor but I can't get an output from my Canon 5D Mark II. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
I did some research, on this monitor and what I found was its only component (RGB) and not HDMI.
If that's right then you need a hdmi to component converter box ,did a quick search and found this
http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004I4WUSE/ref=asc_df_B004I4WUSE2948802?smid=A1UBX6JTHXVTF5&linkCode=asn&creative=395393&creativeASIN=B004I4WUSE&tag=shopbotca-20
but its $99.0 It maybe better to look for a hdmi monitor.

I'm want to do some test before I film a Economic Segment for a News show, I want to test out the MLV so I can use the Jan 6 build with Jan 14 MLV.SND? If I use .RAW I need to use Oct 24th build for Stability.
That's right,  Oct24th for .raw and mlv+audio jan14th for audio & jan 6th or any nighty built mlv_rec before that to jan1st.  :)
I'm curious, do you use any add on gear e.g. evf , monitor, backup(hard drive recorder) etc. ?
I'm doing a beginners guides video for ML Raw/MLV+Audio on the 5D2, for "Newbe's" . I will be cover
everything from installing ML raw, straight thought filming , post & trouble shooting problems,  and I just wanted some input for you  ;D

That's goes for anyone, if you have some input for this I would like to hear from you.
Specially if you had problem installing or filming, Thanks

 @Kharak
I would say the same thing as Ted .
At 60GB Temp around 61-62 degree C
There is times it will spike to 68 degree C if I'm push it with multiplies card record with hdmi.
Stop for 5 -10 min cools down quickly . You will know when you camera to hot when it starts to have
functions error.  :)

@reddeercity

Which nightly did you go back to that goes more than 40gig? Its not clear in your post, Jan 1 or jan 14?

So you tested MLV_REC.mo from Jan 1 nightly with MLV_SND.mo Jan 14 from a.d and you get continuous more than 40 gig?
Sorry , I when back to the Jan 1st nightly build
http://builds.magiclantern.fm/jenkins/job/5D2.212/157/artifact/platform/5D2.212/magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2014Jan01.5D2212.zip
Yes I got continuous with the nightly Jan1st And sound from Jan14 . full card 60GB with or without hdmi but with hdmi a little smaller size
to keep continuous  as per my post. this was also with buffer at 1
#1998
Ok no hdmi MLV + Audio Same problem,
1856x928 LV froze at about 40GB same error message "Audio Failed To Stop State 4"
Tried different setting 1872x850 buffer=0 ,1% idle, 15,426 frames, 40.9 GB  same thing.
So I tried one more test without Audio just MLV and it's not the Audio that's the issue
1872x938, mlv 14,024 frames ,  40,854 GB   , 127ms/idle  same froze LV no error message.
It dose  it with or without audio. I'll go back to a older build and see if its there too.  :)

Edit:
when back to the MLV nightly build from Jan 1st/14 and the Sound module from A.D. Jan 14th build
And Not problem recording. First without hdmi device, 1856x928, buffer 1, audio 44.1 ,full card 60GB (continuous)
Then with hdmi , I had to drop frame size a little to get continuous. 1856x844 with audio buffer 1 full card 60GB.

I think there maybe some problems with crop marks on this new build, I'm sure this will be fixed .
#1999
Just did a quick test with MLV and audio again after a read Ted's post.
I did have a problem with recording.
1872x938 + audio + HDMI + headphones
Preview=hdmi
buffer=1
GD=off
9208 frames 26.8 GB then stop on my Lexar 1000x 64GB
Now this is where it get strange,  :o  I tried a smaller resolution
1856x928 + audio + HDMI + headphones
Preview=hdmi
buffer=1
GD=off
The Camera just stop recording after 40.7 GB & LV just froze up with the display
overlay, just like I pause the video.
press the start button and heard a beep then  a Red error message " Audio Failed To Stop State 4"
14216 Frames ,69.5MB/s ,125ms/idle

I'll test again without HDMI devices attached and see if I get the same error.

@shotxero: You can edit Tiff in FCP 7  as a image sequence and Cdng's or Tiff's in FCPX and  with the new update to fcpx (10.1) it's much easier now.
With Maverick (OSX 10.9) and the New Final Cut Pro X there is not faster NLE out there right now.
You really should give FCPX 10.1 a try its far superior then fcp 7 in every way .
Curious, why do you "hate" fcpx ? What makes you not want to try It ?  Is it Your Hardware limited e.g. ram, video card .
What make FCPX a big Power house now is it's total run on metadata.  :)
If  you have the new Apple compressor 4.1 you can import CDNG's as a image sequence then export a proress4444 with limited Grading.
Or you can use the New Motion 5 and the same thing, import  image sequence CDNG's but there you can Grade the image before exporting
a video file.  ;)
