Ok, that might be it then.
Want me to tell you which modes do not work?

Let me try to reproduce it.
I just opened LV with focus peaking active.

I have technicolor cine style on my camera could that be the issue? I just took ML off my camera just incase that was what was causing the problem. I don't want to reinstall until I know what the problem was here.
What does it have to do with your problem? It is OBVIOUSLY a power supply problem, nothing to do with cinestyle for sure.

Old Macs used to have a failsafe circuit that prevented the Mac from booting for a certain period of time if something strange was detected in the power supply. someone on forum suggested that canon cameras do the same with faulty batteries...
+1
Happened to me when i ripped the wires of the button battery.
It takes quite a lot for the whole system to become ready again (several hours without batteries) .

I guess the RAM is cleared at the door opening.

I'd say no risk should count as 0 on a scale from 1 to 9, just to keep things easy for everybody.

I love this layout :D
#612
So what should i do then, use 2.7x (it's my maximum setting with my 50D) for some reason?
#613
I'm sticking with CBR 1.0x as mov files are already huge and i don't want to burden my old laptop with excess weight of my files.
It looks like the solution isn't so easy and it's a shame given the fact that we could have so much better footage from our cameras.
Thanks for the effort, by the way :)

Let me get this straight, none of the things tried so far delivered a better image quality?
#615
What was the problem then?

** Please don't use RC2 for now, I've removed the download **
There's something wrong with it that needs further investigation

It's the same lens as the 1.4 version except for declicked aperture and different focus ring (so it can be turned by a follow focus without further stuff) .
A manual lens like the Samyang doesn't communicate with th camera in any way, the camera doesn't even know the lens is there.
Lightmeter would still work, stops are there for a matter of practicality, reality isn't strict like that.

General Help Q&A / Re: Iso in 600d

But is it difficult to have the same settings in the movie and photo mode? why can't you develop the same system?
Because they don't have control of things in photo mode. That's it.
Iso 1000 can be obtained later.
I don't think asking the same question over and over when you already have an answer will help.

But do you think that in a new upgrade the same iso settings will be available in photo mode?
You don't need those stuff in photo mode, you can adjust it later and it's much better.
In photo mode it's better to shoot at base iso (100-200...)

I don't understand your video, greg.
What does your bit of code do?
I mean, does it just compute the FOV for a certain number of shots at XX mm?

OP confirmed: this autoexec unlocked the buttons and Canon menu, and he was able to clear camera settings. After taking a new picture the camera got locked again. I've compiled a new autoexec that unlocks the half-shutter every second (workaround), and he can take pictures and use the camera almost normally.

When starting without card, the problem returns.

My diagnostic: half-shutter button is stuck (the electrical contact is closed), possibly because of moisture.

I think the fix is cleaning or replacing the half-shutter button at a service center.
Cleaning should do the trick.
I did it on my old 20D, taking the shutter leaf bits from a ruined battery grip.
Worked like a charm.
Taking it to the service center won't cost you less than 80 euros for sure.

The point of the unfified ML tree is not to have a tons of autoexec.bin around :-\
Not only, it means that the code is shared among the cameras. It doesn't mean it has to be in one single file at any cost.
FW files are specific for each camera.
Anyway, a single bin file is good until it is too large that it can burden the startup sequence. I don't know if it made any difference if it was done for each camera.
SDX has understood me well, it was just a thought so it could help avoiding this bug but it isn't a solution for sure.

I have some experience with a dead camera.
Last year i disassembled my 50D and ripped the button battery wires.
So, i tried to fit the black one into the connector once again and i thought it was ok like that.
After powering the camera up i could do everything within like 5 minutes and then the camera would suddenly lose power. Mirror would not come down and you could do nothing.
Turns out the wire wasn't fitted properly so the circuitof the time and date button wasn't closed.
The camera has some sort of protection and if this happens you should take both batteries out and leave the camera to discharge for something like a few hours.
Hope this is of help.

General Help Q&A / Re: low ISO setting
August 22, 2012, 05:09:09 PM
You're going to have 2 less stops of Dynamic Range at 25 iso so expose properly in order not to ruin your clip.
