Well, there it is. Its really 1536x656.

This is the link description:

In this test, I tried to shot the maximun resolution I can under 20-21 MB Ps. It happens that by changing the frame rate and then setting your sequence to 24 FPS you can get very decent B roll. Of course, As long as there is not fast momevent everything will be alright. Still, is not super, is just... There. But I got some awesome leafs! With out mention the 3x and 5x crop factor, allow you to go close, vee...ry.... clooose.....
I also got some pink frames, about 3 or 4 shots had pink monsters, but very decent tough.

Overall from 1 to 10 I give it a MEH...

Hi guys. I have been playing with the raw function since it became available. I found it very interesting. So this time I decided to play with the frame rate, some of you already know it is a problem to shot moving objects a 12fps. But if you need landscape shots, work for real estate, do music video etc. shooting at 1536x656 is a very nice option as it has been mentioned before here. But I don't like to sit with my arms crossed doing nothing, so I did another test, and this time the camera behaved much better than I expected. See footage with your own eyes.

I got some pink frames in 3 or 4 shots, but it was very decent. The only test I haven't tried is moire and aliasing. I'll get some test charts, still I think the camera reached the limit of what it can do, but I'm happy.

Probably the guy who put the 3x zoom feature on the 600D was fired by Canon. :)

Ha!  ;D Don't laugh, it's probably true. But just when I think the 600d had reach the limit, there come 3x crop factor. Finally, I have the chance to see what that girl is doing in that far away window.

This is by all meaning very sensual. She had a nice attitude. But let us see more (I meant camera work}

You're very observative  @ CFP. But yes, changed the focal length before recording in H.264 in order to match the raw crop factor.

Regarding aliasing and moire, I don't know if the h.264 is better (If I have to guess, I would say maybe yes) But I shoot this test in order to compare latitud and color. Now, the sharpness of the raw footage is definitely better. Without mention that raw can handle a grading level that h264 just can dream of. I never intended to compare the overall image of both "codecs" in this test. Maybe, if 12 or 10 bits recording is unlock I can start comparing the quality in a fair way. Until then, the only questions that remain is: aliasing and moire. Maybe I should run some chart tests, but don't get you hope so high. After all, it is the t3i we're talking about.

Maybe I should start playing with the t4i ???

"But the most important information is missing: Did you count in the increased cropfactor? Did you change the focal length?
Or did you simply recorded RAW and H.264 with the same focal length and cropped the H.264 to match the RAW?"

You're right. I was in such a hurry for a upcoming film festival I'm attending to, so I forgot to mention some details.

First: I shot raw, then I zoom-in in order to match the focal length. 1920 is a huge different in resolution if you compare it to 960 (resolution, no detail)  so I set the composition to 720.

second: The H.264 picture style where standard 0,0,0,0. no grade in post, zero sharpening. The only thing I did with the raw footage was ... crap, my photo shop is in spanish and I don't remember the english options so I'll translate. DNG processing set the matiz to 0, clarity +100, recovery +100. finish

and third: I just arrived from the film festival bringing with me a writing award and 3 phone numbers of the sexiest girl I found, So... Yeah mother f**´†u†¨¬...ø"ˆ"øˆ"©®ß¢¶•π GOOOOOD! that-feel-gooood!

Excellent. No pink frames, no skipping, no bird poop. 0 Problems. If the camera is happy, I'm happy.

Hi guys

I have been running with the same issues as everybody. Pink frames, pink frames... and... Pink frames! AH for God sake! pink frames everywhere! Still, it sounds negative, but I'm happy just to try. I managed to get the clean frames and make a short video.     Link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2qrlV4S27s

I know that a lot of you have cards faster that 20MB/s , but even if that's the limit, the camera is having problems recording at 15MB/s.
I have the champagne ready for when 12 and 10bits allow us to fix this issues. Until then My name is crash dummy #63
