General Chat / Re: Sony A7R

Be patient guys. Between 2012 to 2014 we got our hands on awesome equipment, asking for everything will be greedy. In the end, all we need is a canon Full frame 4k sensor cfast card controller with a 5axis stabilization system. And we already have the 4k with the 1DC, we will have to wait and see how canon play his cards. At least all I ask for is a canon DSLR with a Cfast Controller.

I remember when raw functionality was just a faithful wish. I remembered really well. I started shooting this movie a week before reading "2k 14bits RAW 5D Mark III) would it be possible?" or something like that. I didn't want to raise my expectations but then I saw Neuman's cat and the rest is history.

There is already tutorials that explain ML functionality. Still, a lot of people is having trouble trying to understand how this new modules work, even though it is simple to use. So, I was about to create a tutorial that shows how to install, shoot, and edit some footage. Not because "yes" but people asked me to.

What I'm seeing is not a lack of tutorials or information, but a lack of effort trying to look for this information. What the hell. Sure why not? I'll make a tutorial or two. As long as time allow me.

So simple yet so far. ML 10  8) / whatever body 0  :'(

Thank you guys. I'm goin to enjoy this as much as a good ice-cream.

Produce a new camera from scratch is definitely not in the same ballpark as polish the camera's code here and there a little...
Endeed.

Well, I wish all of you get definitely a woman that brings you fruits to your workroom inside your bigger house where your flying car of the next century is parked.

Forum and Website / What is Magiclantern's next step?

I have been using ML firmware for quite a long time, but it is now that the people are asking me about it, due to the raw module. I can answer all their questions except for this one: Why don't they produce their own camera? The only answer I can come with is: the chef prepare the food but do not sow it. Of course, it is very understandable that ML is a team of developers. (But I just speak for myself. You may want to start selling potato chips if you guys want. Remember... free will?)

So, I'm wondering if you guys want to share some information about your future plans. Remember there is guys that say things like: "Wow. I think everybody should fund ML to produce their own camera, like digital bolex!" eyeieye said.

Extra question: Everybody feel that they owe you, if that's so. ML guys what would you ask for? Money? ponies? women...  :o men?

Any answer would be appreciated

Good job calling my attention. Now I really want to see it.

Want to share workflow? It would be appreciate it.

Seems promising.

Thanks.

Canon 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens. Which I used for every shot (except for the moon) because I like the 14 point star that it produce (11-13fstop). And
Tamron  EF 28-75mm 2.8. I was force to shot the moon with the iris almost close.

The color of the night shots are very clean full of life (Can't post any pictures). I own a Mark III, and it is thanks to the raw capabilities that I'm touching the t3i again.

Yes.

I meant using a physical shutter or intervalometer for advance settings. Sorry for the confusion.

I wonder. Will it be possible to change the E shutter at will in the future? For example. I was using the raw module to record time lapses last week. and the lower I can get is 1/0.2 Eshutter but I had to go all the way down using FPS. The problem is: If I want to use that FPS in a very fast object/subject, it will be showing blurry things moving like hell all directions. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes you need exactly the opposite. The other method is to record in a higher frame rate but it will consume a lot more space... A lot.

Shutter speeds in movie mode are electronic.

Yes, it took me a little while to figure how to work with it. But after you know what speed you want your time lapse you can fix your settings (FPS). Still, is too bad being unable to change the shutter speed. With out mention that you still have the 30 minutes limitation on video mode (this got me by surprise... I hate surprises). Regardless of that, the function is very useful exactly as it is (plus, there is no flickering this way) If you are looking for a specific time lapse setting you have to jump to picture mode.

Being able to shot time lapses with an electrical shutter is a plus plus. Please, enjoy.

Not feeling the twixtor workflow, just one more step in an already complex editing setup. I've been trying out different upscale solutions and ACR's stock crop tool works pretty well, just gotta shoot with a sharp lens and keep sharpness off during editing till the last step.

I;m thinking the same. Still, I made some test using 18 and 19 FPS, it allowed me to shot 1280 2.35.1. With out twixtor of course. The result where pretty decent. I was about to upload some footage, but now I see that Alex had another epiphany. So, I'm waiting until dialog timers are disabled in order to see how far can the camera go now.

Promising... I wonder what it will do on 600D w/ dialog timers disabled.

Magic! But I'm still fixing the wetting problem. I think a bib can do wonders.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: PinkDotRemover 650D

Pretty sweet @foorgol. I would love to try it but, yeah... No, I can't. I don't know how to play with java. I feel like dead weight. The only thing I can do is to wave my hands in the air and send you guys positive energy ???. Would it be possible to run this using raw2dng?

By the way @Sandsnor. You mentioned that your camera turned off because the battery died, and then you camera died as well.
It happens That my camera turned off automatically. It wouldn't turn on until I used other battery with the memory still inside.
What is ironic, is that the camera was telling me that the battery was full before it turned off, but it wasn't. What I wanted to say is that the code is doing funny things, but i'm sure your camera is alright.

My opinion is - after YouTube applies it's magical compression to it - no one will see the difference (especially if watching from Facebook in 480p mode in little window).

Check "T3i/600d (H.264 vs Raw) Awesome results!" in share your videos. watch it at 480p and notice the big difference in dynamic range and color.

Well, I've made some test yesterday, with 24fps 720p. , and fast moving thing with 24fps 720p mode.

Everybody here know that is impossible to get more than 2 seconds in 720p out of the 600d. Maybe you didn't mean it that way and  I misunderstood.

Have you try this?

This is for those who want to try 720p with a (2.35.1)

FPS 24          (24p)            {16:9}       1280x720 127-150                                         27.8MB
FPS 19          (19.001p)     {2.35.1}      1280x544 277-4125                                       22.0MB
FPS 18          (18.002p)     {2.35.1}      1280x544  expect 525-10000, 277-10000           20.9MB        NO THAT BAD
FPS 17          (17.125)       {2.35.1}      1280x544 577-10000, 626-10000                     19.9MB         GOOD
FPS 16          (16.003)       {2.35.1}      1280x544  Continuous                                   18.5MB          SWEET SPOT

Just in this month, I had never seen so much pink since the pink panther vomited on my birthday party.

So I finally got my hands on the t4i. I tough it would be better, but the pink and green pixels pop up everywhere. It's really the AF that bad?
It's there a possibility to turn off the AF function while recording. The only thing I know for sure is that the live view look great, but the result doesn't match it.

I would like to play with twixtor myself, but since some of you finally came back to start doing test, would be bothering someone if I ask you to make a decent test with twixtor?

This time I have to request something like this, now that I got my hand on a t4i, and I want to see how far can it go.

Thanks for trying, happy testing.

Actually, is not that difficult. It just take time, and time, with out mention tim-ye-yeah... It's really a slow process. But everything that take time is worth it. Except a painful dead, no sir, not that.

The point with twitor is that allow you to blend frames a little better. But doesn't fix the problem of fast movement, since it is 12 frames and this is already a critical point if we talk about blurring images. Because if you change the shutter speed the video will look choppy. Can make the video better? yes. It allow you to take average shots? no. Am I wrong? maybe. Would I try it? yes... I just need to install it again(that if I find it) Nothing is certain until it is given a proper test.
