An extra h264 on the SD card next to the raw on the compact flash with a record trigger to the atomos via time code would be ultimate


and off course audio over hdmi, don't understand why canon did not implement this.

And it seems related to timecode not being send when recording raw in the camera

HDMI needs timecode working too, it stops when pressing raw record

Yes you can create a picture style that has a lower curve so it looks under exposed compared to the normal picture styles.

i see crop marks working in raw recording when i put it in the submenu global draw on.
This solves it for me.

Yes there is but it does not affect the canon menu setting of using the SET button to zoom focus.

It does affect the Magic lantern button on half press shutter, but there is a annoying delay when using that, which is not there when using the Set button.

It working good but there eis a slight delay that is not there when using the normal zoom button, I wonder if this delay can be removed?

Not quite the same as the picture styles, loading a .LUT file from an memory card would be an awesome feature.

Atomos recorders to be triggered to record by a HDMI trigger from the camera called REC COMMAND.

This works fine with the camera set to record h264 video but unfortunately it does not work yet when you're recording RAW.

If the record trigger would work, then we have a perfect workflow!   
Record in camera raw and record external prores.

Would be easy to sync since they have the same length. 
For a fast turn around edit with proxy files and later use the raw for grading.


There has been quite a bit of work done on the HDMI code as can be seen in the highly builds,
The thing is that Alex is very busy at the moment and has not so much time to look into it, I'm hoping that early next year when Alex has more time this HDMI trigger code will be made to work.

Here is the protocol , but the strange thing is the protocol to send the REC command over HDMI is already in the 5D, it's just not triggered for raw, only h264.
This would mean something part of the signal is stripped by using the RAW recording function right?

Great that this is looked at, it is the missing link for a good RAW / Playback workflow, if no code can be found, perhaps atomos could give a clue about the command.

I think all these issues are from two times compression, first the uploaded file was already compressed after raw conversion and then vimeo compresses again.

Yes, its not the same cameras that's why I tested them both first with the same codecs so you can use as reference each of their angle of tilt then use those individual results as basis for the next one which uses raw on the other with the h264 on the other if there was a difference in their individual angles. Its result will tell you if there is a difference in RS angle between raw and h264 for the 5D alone. Not if there is a similarity between the 2 cameras.

Thanks for pointing that to me,  I understand what you tested now, seems the raw has a bit more jello, I just don't get how this appears.

The rolling shutter you are comparing is between the 5d and the 7d, that's not a valid test, full frame vs crop camera, even when if they had the same sensor.
