oooh. I meant the DNGs from burst mode. I did not know that the raw files from the LVrec is a different beast.

After Effects CS3 and up. Others say Lightroom Havent tried that, only AE.

Mind if I ask how long does it take to write those 51 frames to your card?  And what is your card's write speed benchmarking at in magic lantern?

Between 31-36 seconds. Have not tried the benchmarking routine yet.

oops after checking my takes its consistent only at 51 frames NOT 102. I missed the break in the takes since the shot was locked down.

51 frames using a 133x cf card on 5d mk2.

yes. You can also use the av cable that came with the 5Dmk2. attach an adapter that converts a "mini stereo phone jack to 2 rca jacks" to connect to the audio rca out of the 5d cable. Its cluncky though so the sescom cable is a cleaner and convenient set up.

I'm editing together a resolution chart test to show if it is an improvement versus h264 and also comparing it with a mosaic filter installed.

I have edited my previous post that my test using the april 30 build is not 36 frames but 102 frames dng!

-edit sorry its only 51. Half of 102. I missed the break in the take since the first tests I did was locked down on tripod.

Reporting my progress with the builds.
Using 5D mkii with a transcend 133x 8gig card, I use this small card for tests since my 32gig cards are used in projects with the stable 2.3.
Builds:
April 28, I could only record around 8-9frames with corrupted bottom of frame and black bar on side, also exposure seem to vary per frame.
April 29, I could already record 11-12 frames and the frames are now clean, exposures stable throughout.
Now, just uploaded,
April 30 build. I was now able to record 102 frames, DNG!

I bet those using the newer mkIII with fast cf cards are getter longer results especially using 720P which the mkII cannot do.

Go for it guys! If we can get at least 15-30 seconds of raw this would be awesome already!

@Alex and other developers,

From someone who does commercials and corporate videos, all I need is a minute! If you can sustain the dng for 1440 frames we are good to go! If that is difficult then at least 30 seconds, 720 frames. Commercials are just between a minute or 30 seconds in its entirety anyway.

I tested the nightly builds dated 29th and its at 10-11 frames in burst. I'm using a 5DII

I noticed in my test that the 1st recording is ok. No more garbled bottom part of the frame and no more black frame on the left. However on the 2nd recording immediately after the first, I noticed a strong pink cast to the image.

To the magic lantern team, I just want to drop by and say good job guys. I look forward to making this a usable feature.

just added ML's vignetting correction to 7D, but needs some testing.
maybe HDR can also get implemented that way. we will see.

I wait with excitement as this (HDR) is among the features I am excited about due to the 7D's 60p capability allowing us to have smoother HDR video. I hope you can already implement autoboot up in the next alpha.

Auto start recording is already in the current alpha. Thought it takes a few second for it to start again so you get that cutoff.

I haven't tried the 7D alpha yet since thay haven't enabled it to autoboot. But I'd like to know, when you say the auto start recording takes "a few seconds" to start again, do you mean it takes longer than on the 5D? or just the same? I have the 5D with ML and it probably takes 1-2 seconds to restart. Is it about that or longer?

Magic lantern allowed me to use headphone monitoring on the cameras and also the audio gain settings can be adjusted so I plugged my pre amp straight to the cam without need for my field recorder (zoom h4n) saving us precious time syncing in post.

Any hope for having HDR video soon?

i know, but this is the only thing that preventing me from using it on a daily basis.
every time i line up a shot, change location, giving directions to the cast the camera shuts the shutter and i need to reflash
thats my christmass wish :-)

I've been using ML on my 5D for a while now. I never used it seriously until it was in the UNIFIED ML state which is out of alpha and beta and is a stable piece of code.
So, with this development of ML for the 7D, I appreciated their work and donated. BUT I am waiting and NOT INSTALLING it yet until its in stable form. No use in stating the obvious since its shortcomings is clearly stated on the first post but just like you I am hoping that alpha 2 will make my Christmas Stocking.

will we have to reflash it every time or is this fixed?
the first ml was great but after a few times it got frustrating to reflash and i just continued filming without it...

This is because its still in Alpha. Not yet even Beta.

damn...i really thougt a card reader on a printer works like normal card reader...never used it before... But i found an option to allow write Process on memory cards. But thanks..."use a real card reader" was a good tip  :-)

I however have been using the card reader in my epson printer.  It worked fine. Just make sure you access the card as removable storage using the explorer or my computer in windows and NOT the canon eos utility.

This is my first time installing magic lantern.
I formated the card as you said and I also fully charged the battery
The firmare at the moment is 2.0.3
When i go to copy the ML.zips contents to the root cf folder it says that i do not have permission to copy this and the whole thing just cancels

Can someone help me?

Use a card reader to transfer the ML files to the card.
