BTW, I tested also Mar-23th and I also get the queue fail message. So this problem is quite "old".

I get the same error as gideonplus. Tested with Apr-9th 113 and 123 FW on 5Dmk3.

It started at about 8 mins and then before the 128Gb card was full it incresed from failed 1 to failed 5.

Then switched to (randomly chosen) magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2014Feb23.5D3113 and I got no error message about failed queueing.

What I observed with Apr-9th build was, that the MLV on my 128Gb card was splitted into smaller files even my CF card was exFAT (as well as the SD card on which I run ML).
With version Feb-23th I got one big file, no splitting, no error messages. Same camera, same setup, same cards.

sorry, no file splitting also in Apr-9th. Those files were just 0 bytes files I always get when record fills the card. So ignore the last part of my comment.

should I use the chroma smoothing 2x2 for 5Dmk3?

by the way. we'll see what advantages the next CC-Version will bring (NAB2014) - maybe the whole work is not needed anymore :)

Still lot of people use CS6 and I think this is the Canon raw from C500, not ML. But we'll see :)

@chmee: Any news about the vertical banding (fixed pattern noise)? I've shot a lot 50p footage and the banding is pretty bad. So I have to convert MLV's to RAW's, then export dngs  with raw2dng and then have to edit the exif camera model with irfanview batch for ACR -- very slow and complicated process. It would help a lot if you'll have a time to implement FPN correction. 0:-)

because plain wav cant hold timecode, its fixed to 00:00:00:00. so, the problem should be managed in other ways. it could be the naming-definitions for path and mediafiles inside. will look on that. has something to do with the clipNo, that should be in directory and filename. (will investigate)

Directory : M021234_C0001
Pictures : M021234_C0001.[0000-9999].dng
Audio maybe : M021234_C0001.wav

regards chmee

Thanks! I can provide you working BlackMagicDesign CDNG if you like.

For now the only working solution for audio/video sync in Resolve is to manually select every audio/video and click chain icon to link the files:

(quite annoying if you have 100+ clips)

(5a) :D thy will be done. static sync-TC set to 00:00:00:00 (because no one ever said something about it)
and/or
(5b) button switch for TimeOfDay?

regards chmee

Tested it with bigger project. Manually changed 50+ clips to 00:00:00:00 and applied Resolve's "Auto-sync Audio Based on Timecode" function and it doesn't work very well. It links wrong audio and video files from time to time. So, maybe the ML does not add correct (same) timecode to audio and video? Or is this raw2cdng problem?

I know it works good in Premiere (probably based on filename), but for many the Resolve is more important.

(5) audio/video resolve - maybe a nameproblem (according to the path/filename-thing found entries ago)

probably a timecode problem.

OK, I found I way how to sync audio and video in Resolve. You can do this in Media Pool by syncing the clips viac timecode.
Read page 122 from this document: http://software.blackmagicdesign.com/DaVinciResolve/Manual/DaVinci_Resolve_Colorist_Reference_Manual_Nov_2013.pdf

Now the problem is, that all my clips from CDNG has Start timecode 01:00:00:00. I have to manually change clip attributes to 00:00:00:00 otherwise the sync won't work. I can't change this for all clips in one click, I have to do this for every DNG sequence.
@chmee: Could we somehow change the start TC in raw2cdng?

You can see the wrong start TC column here:

Next problem is that the resolve is importing this CDNG as 24p (bud I can change this via Clip attributes). But the audio will always import as separate file and it is few seconds longer.
I assume this is some MLV stuff and not a problem of CDNG?

raw2cdng v1.4.9.5 is online
* native mlv+audio

http://www.phreekz.de/wordpress/2013/06/magiclantern-raw2cdng-cinema-dng/

PLEASE! i wont believe, that all is working fine. so, test and tell all bugs, glitches, problems. my wish is to get a stable 1.5 version..

Great work, thanks!
In my case i am having problems with FPS detection (the MLV was shot as 23.976, in older versions it worked OK).

Using 64bit win 8.1 here, no response when attempting to drag and drop a MLV file on version 1.4.9.3 of the converter, am I missing something?  :'(

Edit:
I can convert from MLV to RAW first then use raw2cdng and it works - sometimes (all crash logs saved) - but there seems to be a huge loss in quality when importing to premiere for editing, compared to the other option of converting MLV's to DNG's with Mystic then importing to After Effects, Any ideas? ;/

I'm also on Win 8.1
The 1.4.9. version was not working with spaces in directories. With 1.4.9.3 it works for me (although the windows with mlv_dump will stay black during the extraction process).

@all
mlv/audio native is on the way.

When developing native wav extract, could you please test importing the final CDNG into Davinci Resolve? For me the DNG sequence and the WAV file is always being imported as two separate files. :-/

@CrW What Version you're using? Please try 1.4.9.3 and tell if its still apparent..

I was about to report same bug. With 1.4.9.3 it works for me.

Could anybody explain, how to import CinemaDNG sequence extracted from MLV with the WAV sound?
I extracted the CinemaDNG + WAV from MLV, but when I try to import into Resolve, the video and audio is being imported as two files.

You mean they are not in sync? - its old dslr issue, even with h264 you need to nudge the wav back 1-2 frames

Or You mean the wav is different length from video? - its "normal" for now, wav is either longer or shorter by a few frames or seconds.

in my case the files are being imported into resolve separately (audio and video as two files). In premiere everything works fine.

Sure no problem its very simple, open Cdng's and  or dng's image sequence
in After effects ,now you have  access to the ACR panel  save your project as cs6 xml
import A.E. Project in to your premiere pro project.
I posted a short video tutorial , link below

Hope this helps  :)

big thanks

There no ACR support in premiere pro cc right now, dynamic link to A.E. or speedgrade
is still there , but time consuming. Better to use A.E. first save the project xml import that
by dynamic link in to Premiere Pro CC .  :)

Could you please explain your workflow a little more?

Is there a way how to import the CinemaDNG's into resolve with the WAV? In my case they are importing separately and I couldn't manage to import them merged together. Maybe it's because of wrong timecode?

Hi, I am using RAWanizer 0.6.1 under Windows 8.1 64bit

When having raws with more than 1:25 (one minute and 25 secs, which is approx 2040 dngs), the half resolution proxy is generated correctly. But when I try to swich the proxy to full resolution and DNxHD 185, the video will be generated at the maximum time approx 1:25 (with no error message). Same problem when trying to use TIFFs exported from Lightroom. I have more than 6000 tiffs in the folder, but the maximum lenght of the DNxHD video is 1:25 :-/

I tried to switch from DNxHD to prores444 and now it seems to work fine (i can export videos longer than 5 minutes without any problem).

You can format your card with your computer to EXFAT format and then it won't do that.  With Fat32 you will get spanned files that have to be merged back together..this is not that hard, but if your new it might be complicating.  Best is to use EXFAT format.

thanks, I didn't know that the camera will format the card into FAT32. One more interesting thing -- I had the ML on small SD (FAT) and one 128Gb CF in EXFAT. It was also spanning files and I had to format the SD into EXFAT as well.

Hello. Recently I bought Komputerbay 128Gb 1050x UDMA7 Compact flash. I'm testing it in my 5Dmk3. It can only record up to 8:48, than it starts to lose many frames. It's quite strange, because I am getting really constant results -- every time it goes good up to 8:26 and then the speed falls to 0.x Mb/s and will stop at 8:48 (42.8 Gb).

What's more iteresting -- I also tested my 64Gb Lexar 1000x card with nearly the same results. 42.8~42.9 Gb max write.

The maximum file size in FAT32 is 4.29 Gb. Since I am constantly getting max recording of 8:48 mins (10 raw 4.29 raw files) I would say this is a kind of a ML bug?

I just got a 5d3 in the mail... And it has firmware 1.2.3... Which is odd because the newest one on the canon website is only 1.2.1.

I'm guessing I need to downgrade.. Have the ML guys looked at 1.2.3 to see if any new goodies have been unlocked? I think that 1.2.1 was when clean HDMI came out.

anyways, I have the KB 1050x card and would like to do raw. I want to setup an SD card to boot ML so that I can clean format the CF card after dumbing the footage. Do I need to get an older firmware to downgrade? If so where can I get it?

Thanks guys

yes, you have to downgrade the firmware:
