I tried the newest MLVProducer (PC win7 64) but couldnt export processed dualiso files as CDNGs despite preview which looked ok and processed. CDNGs still have stripes after export. Does this feature works in build 2241.intel ?

@slicKrox -i would like to ask what do you think about IS in 16-35 f4. I have 16-35 f2.8 L II and recently i did some handheld aerial footage from a helicopter (and i couldnt take my gyro with me). I am curious if IS would really be helpful. Do you have any IS ON/OFF comparison footage? I was looking on youtube but there are only couple shots like this. Thanks.

@reddeercity
Great, thank you very much. Very informative and helpful tutorial, as usual :) I needed such an explanation, it was little bit hard to follow this thread, now everything is clear!

@reddeercity - could you please make a video tutorial how to get the newest method of MLVFS on PC working? I am still using the old version, it is a little bit hard to follow some new developments in this area though, i really enjoyed your previous tutorials. I bet it would be great for many people here if someone could sum it up to this point. Thanks.

HI, just shot this, 5d3 ML raw 1080p 25fps, FF and 3x crop mode, all handheld with 70-200 f2.8 IS II (sometimes i used fence as a support). Very little CC in resolve, all clips set for BMC profile and added one simple BMC lut. I am soooo pleased with the color out of this camera, just love it. And i am shocked how easy it is to shoot now - this clip i edited entirely straight from two 128GB CF sandisk cards with two usb 3.0 card readers, used MLVFS so didnt have to copy anything to HDD. Just inserted full cards, "mounted" via old version of PC MLVFS and almost instantly opened in  resolve 12. Fast CC, exported as 10bit DNxHD444 1080p, cut in premiere and exported as 4k h264 - 4k just for youtube better 1080p quality.

Duplicate Questions / Re: 4k Raw 5dm3

Ive made some tests in resolve-1080p raw to 4k dnxhr444, edit and output as 4k vs 1080p raw, edit in 1080p dnxhd444 and upscalig to 4k as the last step in premiere - 4k workflow gave little bit sharper result while 1080 was much faster and much muvh less hdd consuming - both 4k videos uploaded to YT looked almost the same, difference was negligible. But both were much nicer and sharper than uploaded native 1080p. From that moment i upload only 4k upscaled versions.

And one more case - 4k upscaled files uploaded to youtube have much better quality/lower compression even in 1080p than native 1080p clips.

I made some simple tests and really didnt notice any difference (5d3, 1.1.3) in speed vs MLV rec (I tried for example crop mode with 2,8K res and fps override 1080p 38fps and recording duration in seconds was practically the same). But i guess it needs more tests with different settings.

I was thinking about adding some more resolutions to choose from settings menu to simulate different sensor sizes. It would be good to check and evaluate image aestethics of different camera sensors. Right now in one of the newest  builds 2015Dec20.5D3113 besides FF we have 1.2x crop (1600x900) 1,5x crop (1280x720) 2,0x crop (960x540). Maybe we could have lets say APS-H, APS-C, m4/3, 1", 1DC 4K crop, 1DX mark II 4K crop etc. For example I am courious how exactly the 4k image from 1dxII would look like on glidecam with my 16-35 lens (despite of resolution of course, just aestethics).  Angle of view, depth of fileld etc. Maybe someone is thinking about buying other camera but crop factor is bothering him. We could have resolutions simulating crop factors from the most common cameras on the market to see how the image would look like.
What do you think guys? Could you devs help with that?

I cannot find this info anywhere: is 1080p 100/120fps mode cropped like a7sII or C300markII or is it still full frame image? The only crop they mention is 1,3x with 4K.

EDIT: 120fps is full frame, no crop. Great :)

Hi, my two new videos from last year vacations. 5d3, raw, 16-35 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8, glidecam HD4000.

Sorry, i should have explained this better: what i mean is i was thinking about the feature which would be helpful with "external" hdr processing like in after effects where you need two separate streams- dark and light. Your processing inside the app is realy great for most cases but having two separate CDNGs folders give ability to add more of the effect by using shadows and highlights recovery in ACR (or resolve) to make dark frames darker and light- lighter separatelly. And i have noticed that i couldnt render with frame step 2 in the newest version- i was getting all the frames in the folder. I was able to do what i am talking about with your previous version (the one without hdr full/half button, i will try to post some examples. Thanks

I am playing with HDR feature in rev.2183 alpha intel and it seems that there is a problem with frame step option. I am trying to divide hdr 48fps footage and just cant, it gives me folder with both dark and light frames. There was no such problem in rev.2127.
Feature request: could you implement such a feature that when you choose HDR processing full frame rate or half frame rate but you have CDNG export selected it just automatically creates two folders with odd and even frames (so dark and light). Now you have to do it by hand. Thanks

I tried also 2880x1080 (2,67:1) with these settings: 23fps, global draw off, preiew options: hacked. With sandisk cf 128 160mb/s i could take 12-14 seconds of footage. With 23,976 fps  - 10sec. With global draw: allow and preview: auto - 8-9 sec. I wonder if the difference in resolution between 3,2K and 2,9K would be visible (i doubt it).

With fully usable 2880x1226 (2,35:1) 24fps global draw:allow and preview:auto  - 5 seconds of footage.

I have to make a comparison :)

BTW: 2880 horizontal resolution is like alexa with arriraw ;) ;)

I prefer to use right mouse button. So you can just slide down whole list.
3 reasons:
1. it is more accurate.
2. Workspace is free from unnecessary controls.
3. Fast access.

Ah, OK, and what about mouse wheel then? Could you add it also? It would be more intuitive i think.

HDR and dualISO implementations looks great after short testing (v2164 intel), really groundbraking :) :)

It is a not big issue but I think it would be good to have a scroll bar in the queue window - after importing couple dozens of files it is hard to see and select them without expanding to full screen (and even with that i think it will not fit more than 120-140 at once).

This would be great to have HDR -ready to use clip- export. Having both HDR and DualISO modes - each of those modes could be very useful in different situations.

@AWPStar

I checked HDR with 50fps file, works good, only issue is  when i want to delete number "1" with backspace in frame step window (when the file is loaded), it gives "run-time error 13, type mismatch", workaround was not to clean the window but add "2" and than delete "1".

I exported two 25fps CDNGs sequences - dark and light.

Here is 50fps HDR clip from 5d3.

Thanks for the build, i will try to make some tests tomorrow during the day. Meanwhile here is the link with dualiso file but 3x crop mode this time, resolution 2560x1090, maybe it will be useful for further adjustments, tomorrow i will send you some more.

2,5k dualiso looks really great, artifacts are much less visible. Here is some very good example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwTxM6W0D-s

I put this file to the newest build and with dualiso test mode look very nice :) Tried to export as CDNGs just to see what will happen but it seems that this feature obviously is not ready yet (exported files were not processed).

Great job, keep going :)

@AWPStar,
do you have a version with HDR export somwhere around? I would like to test this feature if you dont mind.
