General Help Q&A / Re: new nightly
February 27, 2013, 04:05:24 PM
There is nothing at the bottom screen except the help description.

I guess if it is greyed out and you can still use the function then that is that.  The ones that are white must be the commonly used buttons and the is no hidden ones.

550D

Using the 2-23 nightly and cannot get the greyed out menus to come on.  You hit the menu and get the junkie menu and go over the top of what you want to activate then hit menu again with no changes made.

Is there a new method I missed?

Thanks j, I checked that it is on AF.  Seems like a lens compatibility issue.

It could be a lens issue.  Have you tried using other lens?

The 18-55 canon is a new lens that came with my wife's new 500D.  I find it to be an excellent lens.

Tried follow focus, and it works.  Delay set to 2.  Focus end pt is -3 steps from here.  Stack focus is Snap, 5steps/pic

I get "soft limit reached" with a beep.

Trying stack focus.  I keep geting "soft focus limit reached", and nothing happens.  Have a 550D and using a Sigma 50-200 HSM with stablizer. Using 1/17 build.

I think I found a solution to my problem. I increased my memory buffer size on my laptop.  Running Win7 64.  Did a upload of about 100 files which were mosly raw and so for no corruption.

Using the command prompt as administartor I typed  fsutil behavior set memoryusage 1

Happens frequently when trying to transfer my Raw files from SD 16g card.  I use Canon software or just copy paste.  Using ML v2.3 build 2012-07-23 on a 550D. Copying to D drive.  Some not all files corrupted. Usually have to format the drive to get rid of them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks for your prompt reply.  I put the dial on M.  and set the end focus at the nearest pt from the camera, then L/R to the farthest pt  in focus.  Go back to the menu and place marker on Stack focus.  Go back to Live view and wave 3xs over  viewfinder.  I got 5 pics and it seems to work.

The settings are 1. Follow focus is LCD sensor

                           2. Focus step size is 1

3.Focus end pt is -44 steps

                           4. Stack focus is Snap, stepsize +10.

I got 5 pics.  Why 5?

I believe I had the meaning of end point wrong.  It is the nearest focal point to the camera,  Right?

General Help Q&A / Stack Focus
November 05, 2012, 05:13:13 PM
I need help with stack focus.  How can I control the number of pics produced.  I hafter end pointave experimented with steps 1-3 and + and before with the results of 1 or 2 frames.  I have tried HDR with stack and this produces too many snaps.

I am using a 550D with SIGMA 50-200 and DC OS HSM, CANON 35-70 EF.

I have been trying to find this information in forums and manual.  Maybe I am looking in the wrong places,  or just blind.

This is my 2nd post.  No replys to the 1st posted on 10/27.

I call it "the big secret".
