I assume video recording is still fine without ML?

Yes indeed. I just filmed the unboxing of my new Nexus 4.

Were you able to record longer before havibg ML on the SD card?

Also remove the card from the camera and check what Class your SD card is! To record HD fot longer periods you should have an Class 10 SD card!

Hope that i van be as much assistance as possible even without the Pre-Alpha1! :)
Yes I was able to shoot longer videos without ML.
Card is class 10 sandisk extreme with 45MBs. This shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks!

Honestly I'd like to wait for the Alpha version. I really don't want to brick my camera. Yesterday I almost bricked my phone - bad luck is after me these days.
I have one more question. Is there a way to format the card in the camera to get rid of the ML? Right now If I format the card in the camera, ML catches me.
If not, I still can format it via PC.

Hey guys, back after 12hrs of internet outage.
@baga, no I did not magane to do the firmware dumping as required
@nanomad, what is causing the font - ooops issue?
BTW, I've tried to boot the camera with the ML, it runs, the EV is always overlaying ML. Live view was very laggy and I did not manage to record more than 15 seconds.
I'm looking forward to see the alpha.

Same here. Could be something different on some cameras?

After 1st boot up I go to upgrade firmware and let it update, next it goes to the main menu.  Hello World comes up, signature=0x12aeb7b3, enableBootDisk, oops!  In the top left corner in real small print "font addr bad"

What am I doing wrong?  If I try using the camera it seems fine but once it powers down on it's own I find the drive light came back on or right after the sensor clean if I shut it down on my own.

I've reformat and tried about 5 times.

Where am I dropping the ball?
I assume you did not follow this:
Run EOSCard, select your card, make it bootable (check all the flags, don't touch the ML or CHDK buttons)

Any feedback? Either noone is risking the pre alpha or everybody is busy testing.

I am limited in time, and cant risk the downtime of a bricked camera, so i will skip the first wave, if i feel comfortable that it works for others i will jump in and start testing.

Looking forward to the (pre-) alpha!

You can choose what to boot: Canon or ML.
So if ML is not performing right, or you can't use it as you would like, you can boot the camera without ML.
