if anyone has any Android programming skills would be cool if we had the CR2hdr program work on Android devices so if we are on the go we dont need a laptop and what not, only an idea and not sure if its possible, Im not a programmer so yeah. ^^;;

I think it's still very alive...

I have started an other tread about this subject here:
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7788.new#new
However as the 650 and 700D have a HDR function on the dial I wonder if this specific function could be included?
Is it possible to turn the dial to HDR and then overwrite the canon settings and enable M mode and activate advanced bracketing? And turning the dial back to e.g. M would deactivate advanced bracketing again.

Yes Many Image import softwares (like Adobe Bridge, Image Capture (Mac), etc.) won't import the RAW videos (because the format is unknown for them) and you can't change other extra files you might have (ML files for example). So you need a card reader to be able to get the RAW videos you shoot or update ML. I think it will be cool to be able to directly access SD from the USB Cable.

Hey nanomad and other developers!
I have a idea for a new feature. Can't we have USB mounting functionality? I mean to be able to access the SD through the usb cable. I know ML loads from SD but if we able to achieve that, it will be a great help to people who do not have a reader handy!
I actually can try to implement the feature (I am an embedded C developer), but the thing is I'm not familiar with the ML code and don't know if it's possible or not (Because the thing I said in above.).
The question is when ML loads, does it need SD card to continue operating or it has just been already copied in the memory?

Nice edit with the "bother" bit.
Yes. The first post says upgrade to 1.0.4 and then run the installer instructions. Not clear to me if already being on ML on previous firmware is likely to cause a problem. Hence me asking. If what you're saying is that regardless of current state I should just follow those instructions, then that's great.
I was looking for confirmation.
If that is the case, it would surely have been quicker and more helpful of you to post something along the lines of "just follow the instructions, they apply to upgrades as well as new installs".

Hi All,
I'm on the previous alpha that predates 1.0.4. What's the upgrade path, same as a clean install, or do I need to remove the previous version of ML?
Probably being overcautious but would appreciate some tips!

Satriani, Did you say that Dual ISO had been added to your latest build?

I've send a email to Canon to know if I can downgrade to 1.0.2 I'm waiting their answer !

Very excited to see ML is available for the 650D! Even if only in alpha. I have a question, apologies if it's been answered elsewhere already - I have searched around.
Does this version of ML include the auto-restart function that allows the camera to take longer movies? This is the only reason I need ML, but I heard a rumour a little while ago the future versions won't include this feature.

Besides all photographic considerations, I would start with a pragmatic question: are you willing / able to shovel really huge amounts of data? One RAW frame 1472x626 is about 1.7 MB. If you shoot 24 or 25 fps, you end up with 2.5 GIGABYTE PER MINUTE. If you shoot e. g. 30 minutes footage (what I would consider not much given your setting), you have 75 GB sitting on your CF cards and (later) on your disk.
And at least during pink-dot-removal, this doubles for a short while: 150 GB.
And after you develop the RAWs into MJPG, you might have approx. 1/5 of the size, so about 15 GB...
And other figure: for me, rawtherapee and all four cores at 2.9 GHz ("Turbo Mode" ) need approx. 2 seconds / frame for applying some color correction, tone mapping and noise removal on a 1280x720 image. So my machine would need 50 minutes to convert one minute of 25 fps RAW material to JPG. Depending on your computer, your pace my vary, of course.
All I want to say is: RAW is nice but not really handy...

the lighting issue will be the same whichever way you choose. Maybe shoot HDR? I've only shot short clips but it probably will handle larger ones. Try some test runs in similar light.

Nanomad, do you think that we have a ML version someday working with Canon 650D 1.0.4 firmware?
Quote from: Daniboy111 on June 25, 2013, 10:49:00 AM
So is there really no way I can install it onto my camera? Iv'e been waiting awhile to get it on the 650d

Hi all - forgive me if this should be posted in a different forum, but I think I may have the (dubious) distinction of shooting the first completed short film with ML on the 650D. Thanks so much to the hardworking developers, to satriani for the nightly builds, and all the help on this amazing board.
The film won the Best Film prize at the Idaho 48-hour film festival - so for you perfectionists and colorists out there - this was a QUICK turnaround
Thanks again.
