:/ clouds..but tis stuff is regular..so next night uwill see similar scenario..one one diference planets  will in more far distance one to each aother ( i mean view from earth perspective not real distance .. but venus is closing   )..

i take some shots and 20 second lapse .but clouds :/ ,,, well happend next night next chance..

i must remind  there is Maximum of shower at 14 dec ,,
its cool time for test shots ..
while i take short timelapse something attack my tripod lol ..

i was in perfectyl save place with out groud shacking but .. i can see on lapse how few times something hit trpod :/ ..maybe some blind bat or some small lost bird.. .

keep trying its not first and not last night when u can take shots of NAture from  beyod earth

all this its Meteor Shower what in these days will be most active  ...it starts ``Tonight ``  and most activity of Meteors what comming from destuction of Planetoid  3200 Phaethon ( Featon ) will be at 14 DEC  and ``stops`` at   21 dec.. its can mean meteors can be Big   ...

all this will coming fomr Gemini Constelation ..so its cool to focus lenns on Orion Taurus Constelation and ( primary ) Gemini fomr where Meteors wil lcmoming from ..

its grate scenarion on Earth Sky for make cool Photos or time lapse ...i going to prepare my self

I for mistake just delate ML from my SD. Now if i insert it in my 550D it freez till i take out baterry. On otehr card is OK. I Format card in reader and it still this same, I update oryginale fw 1.0.9 and no help, I reinstal ML from another sd card (no help), recopy ML files on this problematic card and instert to 550d with ML (no boot). In other camer (simply sony or canon) this card work but everytime i insert in my 550 it freez. this is 16gb patriot lx series class 10.
Pleas help me, this is my only 10 cl card for hd video :-(

when u format card in pc card reader use Deflaut Buffer size Format for Memory Card and ur Memory Card NEVER will lock ur camera !!

That's the way it is... ML is just not made for all people, or rather there are some people who aren't made for ML. When you're using a professional gas stove, you're not automatically a better cook, but you might set your kitchen on fire, if you're not careful. A microwave oven may be a better choice for you.

I read the whole documentation and every bit of information I could get before installing ML on my 50D. I only enable certain functions when I really need them and if anything doesn't work (rare, but possible), I know that it's my own error in 99% of cases. I won't complain or file a bug report until I'm 100% sure that it's the camera's of firmware's fault. If everyone did it that way, there'd be very, very few jobs in customer support.
Some people seem to think, reading manuals is for noobs. I think, it's pretty much the opposite: If you're not reading the manual, you'll never use the full potential of your gear. You may still be a good photographer, but always limited by your ignorance.
Canon firmware helps to avoid most errors by limiting the user. The majority of camera users just want to press the buttons and let the camera do the rest and it works well for them. ML takes away many of the limits and therefore some of the idiot-proofing. It's definitely not magic, as the name might imply, but a very powerful tool for people who reached the limits of Canon firmware and want more.

in days when everyone use MANUALS soooo muche soem shots or whatever u doing there with manual can looks hmmm..SAME ?
imagine  1 milion peoples use same manual and they make same lookin shots..
so after this we got  1 milion smart ``PROFESSIONALS` users after MAnual reading..

Personal i prefere to go to thing with my self ...i prefere my way what can be and will be uniqe and not reapetable..

no u missunderstand me.. i mean Canon will try ...but i soudl add this..Canon menu can show u all avilable updates for ur camera model if he find on card some...i dont mean ML will try .no

in one my test i add two firmwares on card  ..1.0.1 and 1.0.2 ..but i must say i dont remember with one i was have instaled in that moment..
canon (if i can call it *)  *software showed me all alvilabel upgrades 1.0.1 and 1.0.2

There is no Manual for how make Experiment Shot what can sounds no sense but looks like Magic..

what aboute adding AntiAliasing modes in video or Shot mode`s or some functions where we can with ML manipulate some  AntiLiasing setings .it can make borders looks more smoth  in lower resolutions it can improve image quality and in high res it can be  so cool..


and one more.. it posssible to Add output power to miniUSB on Canon ? for what ? im not sure if this thing work now but how far i checkd is not possible now...

i was thing abotue connecting External Hdd to Mini USB Port ,but HDD what using USB power and they dont need batterys or some external ac power .. it sounds like possible cus with Canon Software its possible to save ( only Photos no Video ) on PC or Laptop hdd Shots stright  from Canon to Hdd and Camera not saving files on Memory Card..so its possible to send soem data out side camera

so maybe its possble to make soem small `program` in ML what little lie aboteu destination of Saving files when he discovery some hdd device connected to mini usb port..

ML 2.3V got coool futers for External Monitors.. it can place frame in midle of external screna it can put frame in 4:3 16:9 :16:10 1:1 ..how far i remember ..

aboute first one..this what i knwo to now its..if u Upgrade or DownGrade ur Firmware u can delete ml-550d-109.fir File  ..( i mean file what upgrading or downgrading ur firmware )(and i ting its better to delete it )..if not ur camera will try to update firmware again whenu try to instal ML  so better delete that file after firmware update or dongrd before u start instaling ML )...and format card...u dont need to have that file what up or dwn ur firmware..its done once and camera dont need this file any more on ur Memory Card..just Delete it..


Now ML
u can remove card from camera and ur Canon will start with NONE problmes .. u can put inside another card and still everything  be coool..u can later put to camera card where u put on ML files and start up Camera ( but files must be instaled on card not jsut copy from card to card ) ..and your camera wil lstart up with all stuff from your Canon ( all menues and all stuff ) + Magic Lantern ..

but once more u CANT simple copy ML files ( after instaling ) from One memory Card to another one..if u do it ..that card on where ujust copied files will just not Load for u ML ...cus files must be Instaled..
and remember u not instaling ML inside your Canon Body or lenss :DD .. only on Memory Card..

but if u make mess with files on Memory Card ..( ML Files ) dont wory..your camera will NOT Explode :DD  ...after messing with files do this :

Format Card inside Canon and before u push buttton OK press Q button..this will delete all files + ML files form Memory Card ..
but it stay with one Folder..it will be named ML and in side folder u will find some Setings file..  but u will see this folder when u put Card to your Computer Card reader..u can delete that file ( of course if u previusly FormatCard and format with  Pressed Q button ) and remember always make LOW Level Format it makes Buffersize on Deflaut ..

so after formating in Canon and deleting old Setings file your Memory Card is Again Ready to put on Magic Lantern Files ( you dont need instal again firmware ) and later inside Canon Instaling

but one more importand Thing..i almost forgot..ALWAYS REMEMBER when u trying to take Memory Card OUT from Computer Card Reader  FIRST   go to  your Computer and Click on Memory Card Icon and Select EJECT !!!  this is Most Importand ..if u not do it..ur Memory Card can demage or files saved on card can be destroyed with no way to recovery ( btw REcovery software can Recovery files from your Card even u Delete them long time ago   ...but here im not sure how FAT32 working with this..NTSF is fine

same with Camera...ALWAYS remember to waith few second before u take Memory Card OUT from ur camera (after turning OFF camera or taking battery out Stright ).. waith for small red flash dot ( if u got one in camera body ) and after tis u can save take it out

Ok, don't really want to rick nightly builds, I use ML when shooting video commercially, don't want to do re-shoots because I am not using stable software (I know the nightly builds are generally stable but one screw up can cost a lot of money).

i give u tip..compare same Video File how it looks on few diferente computers..

and i give u another example of this what i mean..(sry for not good english )

in Sound studio when u recorind Sound they use specia lSpeakers...( im not sure they are Active or Pasive   :S.. i always got problem in remeber this )

that speakers dont adding to the Sound Extra  Low Mid or High frequencies... they just play sound how it  was recorded..later they using Equalizers and tresholds ect ect ect....but on start they neeed to hear Clear fresh Sound with OUT any ADD`s..same with Video..

u must be sure your Video Player showing this what u jsut record with Out ANy Add`s from program what corecting  your video..if u TurnON  feauters in your Video Player(still i mean Computer Video Player ,.not Player from Camera ) u can see video after Software Corection..not Real Fresh file .
Magic Lantern  have capability to Record HIGH END Movie and with Realy PRO and High Quality..
and i telling u.. this fail its not cus Magic Lantern... Magic Lantern got inside PRO setings for Video Recording..

im new in ML same as u..but i done few tests and i thing  for Video Recording Nightly Bulid  got more ways to powerUP your Video ..more than 2.3V version  alsow in Nightly Bulid u got Advanced Audio SubMEnue with Touch Equalizer what is jsut WOW.. version is older so  u need double check what FirmWare u need to have on your Camera to use that Bulid ..in my case i got Canon T3i ( D600 ) and my factory Firmware its 1.0.2  and with this one i cant use  nightly version.. so iwas need downgrade my firmware to 1.0.1 and after this regular ML instalation ..

but like guys from this website says..that Nightly Bulid its Test Version and it can be not stable..well..is alost perfect ..but in my opinion i will use it more on more high end Canon models..they are more faster i thing..

I'm completeley new to Magic Lantern, so this might sound like a stupid question: Why didn't you use ML's long time exposure?

well... he used..and i must say its only one way for make photos like he Shot..
but he alsow using MotorTripod for Telescope. so he just picking object on Earth Sky he seting up Tracking Device what is connected to Motorized Tripod(small computer )  for Tracking object on Sky he taking off lenss from camera and from Telescope and he connecting  to telescope Only Camera Body..with some special Adapter..later he come to Magic Lantern he use Long Exposure with HDR maybe open shutter for long time and u got MAgic... this Motorized Tripod its Profesional Stuff for makingAstroPhotograhpy.. but alsow u ca nuse it to coool time lapses with out  conected telescope ..only camera..

I'm completeley new to Magic Lantern, so this might sound like a stupid question: Why didn't you use ML's long time exposure?

he means 5 shots but all single shots are setup on 30 second Exposure..so  1 shot = 30 second exposure..what mean 30 second tracking object with Motorized Tripod..i took few nights ago my First shot with new camera ... first time  i use digital for AstroPhotograhpy but im not lucky ass this guy ..i make shot with out motorized tripod..more..with OUT ANY tripod ..exposure abotue 4 second  when i make little corection i let u knwo how it looks with out  motorized tripod and short exposure..

20x bitrate

  i got Canon T3i (D600) and  when i use x.2.0 bitrate in video recording my camera cant stand it and it geting  hot and lol hapend on end..camera freaze.. max what is quite good for my camera its  x.1.6 ..what camera u use with x20 bitrate ? and it not stops ?

i use 45mb/s reading and wrighting  Class 10 San Disk Card

So I should be satisfied because file is bigger? It doesn't matter to me, if file is bigger when quality is the same (by naked eye...but i dont need it to be better in some graphs and tests, i want beter video while shooting between trees and leaves!)
I am using 70-200 f/4 L IS, and Tamron 17-50 2.8. Both are very sharp in photography, and for video you dont need such a good optical quality(I have read somewhere), so i dont think this is reason.

when u got two same lenght of file lets say 10 second Movie File`s but one is 1 GB and another one is lets say 100 mb.. its mean..more frames per second more resolution more bitrate more high quality..if u dont see diference u need maybe check ur ICC profile monitor .. or check color setings at  ur software..and what Monitor ICC profile u use.. with wrong ICC profile and balance colours in ur computer and on camera ..when those two coplours profles are not same your colours can looks weird..( like in 8 bit frames ) so u can thing its low quality..
alsow tell me what software u use to Preview ur videos recorded  with ML on your Canon..cus this can be  problem to..
all video players use some codecs and they use own setings.. the best thing its to not powering UP quality of movie on your Video Player.. make player show u original colors with OUT Program Corection..cus sometimes ( mostly ) these  software (video player ) corection can kill quality in movie

Hi, in http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/userguide#focus_peak it talks about different parameters for focus peeking but I can work out how to change them through the menu.  Is there a parameter file I need to change manually/where is it?  Have done some googeling and looked at forum but no joy;(.

i ting u are same confused as i was .. what PRECISLY Magic Lantern version u use ? 2.3 V  ?  nightly builds  2.2 ?  2011 december 22 XMass version ?


there is so many diference betwen them..looks similar but  some version  are little more advanced with some Extra SubMenues..

sometimes somesetings are Hiden ( look on booton of LCD if u have there some small letters info abooute hiden setings..if they are ..click Menue Button.. u will see red stuff what show up on menues borders ..but its ok..just click Menue button and check if some new setings come up....

Wow really nice stack, did the star flares come in camera or are they a post effect? How do you remove noise from hot sensor, dark frame sub?

when u got conected Telescope like thes guy got u can shot in low iso so lower noize..
the colour what u see on photo its gas what is invisible for human eye in this form..
only long exposure and show u this what can see..
noize is eazy to remove with extra software like Photoshop or Lightroom..
in Photoshop whenu editing TIF u can click Adjustments TAb and u got there all setings u need .. for kill noize ect etc..

i must say i was wrong.. but i was need to burn my finger to know it ..

first i instaled that 2011 December Xmass Version..but i was happy to fast.. 2.3 V is more advanced compare tu that version.
so i reinstla all stuff again to nightly Version .. this version is sooo coool... Advanced Audio controls   and Touch Eq is soooo PRO .,.even with out extra setings in side is still to to have eq like that ..

There is so many another setings i got there some 30 New setings including subMenues  and some Advanced Setings what   Xmas verison dont have..

example.. Intervolumeter ok is both versions but in nightly build this tool is Realy Ready for advanced use..
same with so alot another setings..some extra sub Menues are jsut SOO COOOL... Setings in side Setings ..and More Setings :DD ..
one thing what i dont liek in nightly build its :

Movie and CBR setings...same seting in version 2.3V is looks like LEss Advanced than in nightly build but  in version 2.3v i can use manual Bit Rate ..in nightly build  when i want to use Canon CBR Bit Rate this seting is always set on 2.0(up to 2.0 where its always 2.0. and icant reduce it to let say 1.5 )..its muche to high for CPU on my Camera ( T3i )..not buffer ... in version 2.3 V i can manualy reduce this value .. in nightly build version when i turnON this future my camera just die ( but not die after turnON Camera..only  vidoe going crayz..when i star rec Movie movie stops (regular stuff) and system Frezz) ...its no cus slow card..i ting i got medium fast card ..its Class 10. 45mb/s reading and wrighting..so its not bad but not  Super fast to ..is optimal..


Shoting Mode and HDR Bracketing looks like in nightly build have muche more possibles to switch ..more than in  2.3V version..

i can compare all day and night long all single setings ..but its is not point..
i felll like nightly build even is Avilable on Canon D 600 aka T3i  idont think this camera have Anought Power to fully use tis version of MAgic Lantern... for sure in more High Models of Canon where they got fastes CPU`s  this nightly build Pack can be Just WOW..

i like these nightly build cus Large Audio possibles + possibles or Recording Wave File ( u guys are SOO COOLL THX FOR WAVE !!!!!! )
alsow i canrecord only Sound with Out Video what is   again LOL .. cus mosty i was need that Audio Setings from nightly build not for Video Recording only  For Audio..yes..

i starting all stuff from begin..i reupdate firmware...from 1.0.2 to  1.0.2.  ..camera alllowed me to update it again what is weird ..now i going to instal stuff once more..

i dont have anotther autoexe on card..i format card in canon ..i just put it stright on car after formating

One of those videos is an oooold ML version. Everything is moved around now.  You have to upgrade, stuff not in 2.3 isn't going to magically appear. Memory is not the problem. Just download a newer autoexec.bin.

i just discover something..
well..in those two videos i can see two diferente Menues but soemthing more.....

two videos are maded with Canon T3i ... but..on first video  u can see T3i with 9408 memory on Canon board
and in second video  guy have 1945 memory on Canon T3i...

i got in my canon around 1000 kb..so maybe this is key to my problem..maybe my camera dont have enought memory to load all ML menues and futers..

If you really need the extra audio settings download the nightly builds instead of the official release.

the thing is in this...i talk to peoples who got same 2.3v version what i use from few days and they got all these what i dont have..i use t3i same as `them` ..this is not only aboute Audio..

some times its better to have more options and dont use them.. than dont have them when u need them

ML's audio features are still not available in the official 2.3 release for the 600D since it uses a different chip. There are some nightly (experimental) builds which have these features though.

I don't understand what else is missing besides the Audio features (as explained above).

Regarding the latest version, as I've already told you a couple of times, RC1 and RC2 are pre-release versions (release candidates). The latest version is the one available from the Download page.

My builds and nightly builds have audio. I don't know about 12 tab, I don't think there are that many.
