Sorry, I can't give any guidance regarding dual-ISO as I only have a 7D, which sadly doesn't support dual-ISO video. If anyone has found some step in the dual-ISO workflow which MlRawViewer can help with as-is, that's great, but right now there is no explicit support for dual-ISO in the tool.

Makes sense. Just so you know that I have full access to a 7D at work and have used ML on it (I can take home for testing when necessary) as well. If there's anything else that I can do to help speed up your software or even assist @a1ex if possible to take this Magic even further?

Just let me know...

Sounds good, No problem & Thanks! However, would you happen to have a preferred way to use dual ISO MLV if you wanted to convert them and yet still  be able to use your software as well as others when necessary?

Currently converting w 20-bit cr2hdr within LR -- stand by! (I'm still curious whether if it would still work or not)

@Baldand -- okay I've taken the troubleshoot somewhat to another level and was able to narrow down the possibilities.

#1 - I was able to export as DNG's with original MLV folder on latest MlRawViewer (1.3.2) -- so that makes sense why you weren't able to duplicate the issue I was referring to earlier. (But since it was shot in DUAL-ISO so I'll need to convert it obviously)

#2 - I was NOT able to export converted DNG's since it crashes every time (after its been converted with MLVFS -- could this be related to the .MLD issues from earlier?)*** Perhaps I'll try to convert the DUAL-ISO with 20-bit cr2hdr in LR and see if the crashes still occur (just to be sure its not just related to MLVFS)

***IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING... I've uploaded the converted DNG's (.MLD) onto my dropbox for your own experiments.

More troubleshooting to come as I'll be leaving for work and will try to find downtime to hunt this bug down!

Thanks again!

Thanks. Looks like you managed to find a bug in the new lossless jpeg encoder.

Is it possible for you to share the (or an?) MLV that triggers this?
@Baldand -- Sure here they are...

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8ypj1tj62al8j0b/AADDeukEIewP6b-zkfOAu2C8a?dl=0

(it has both the original MLV & REC.TMP files)

Hope to continue to help along... THANKS AGAIN and looking forward to future updates regarding MlRawViewer!

Here's the CR from the latest crashing when exporting as DNG's...

Here's Take 2 of the latest saga with the DUAL-ISO MLV > MLVFS > cr2hdr-R (20-bit) > MlRawViewer (1.3.2) export as ProRes 4444 w LUT's applied. (I tried to export as DNG's but then it crashes every time -- let me know if you would like for me to send you a crash report regarding this situation @Baldand)

Thanks again to @Danne, @dmilligan, @Baldand & @a1ex for their correspondents & dedication!

Excellent find @Davidsh... I went ahead and deleted the empty .MLD folders that were created from MLFVS. I literally felt like a kid again after finding my favorite candy bar (MlRawViewer) hidden in a drawer somewhere. THANKS again @Baldand and I'll continue to use your remarkable app in MlRawViewer as always!

*feedbacks*

2006 Macbook Pro running Mavricks 10.9.5 using AE CS6 11.0.4 and this is what I'm seeing... I doubt this is the same error you guys were referring to from earlier?

thoughts?
#3284
Thanks @Baldand -- I did follow your instruction and deleted everything including the .mlrawviewer and unfortunately since I already deleted it so I wasn't able to retrieve the crash report per your request. My fault on that.

However, I was able to record my own macbook's screen to show you what this looks like...

I actually do miss using your wonderful software... extremely frustrating!
#3285
Left everything alone in ACR except for the tone curve regarding darks/shadows via your 'trick'... came out not too bad, eh? (although I think I do see some strange whitebalance changes in the middle & end of the clip -- not sure where did that come from) Just a step closer to perfection...
Thanks @Danne!

Shot MLV DUAL ISO w EOS-M > converted with MLVFS > cr2hdr-20bit (Danne's workflow w cr2hdr-r) > Export as 16-bit Tiff's from ACR > Image Sequence with Quicktime7 export as ProRes 422 HQ.

P.S. personally I would rather use MlRawViewer than QT7 so I can just apply some of my favorite LUT's... not sure why it just won't run on my macbook anymore after I tried uninstalling to downgrade back to older version but then I decided to erase that and go back to the latest version 1.3.2 and still no luck so far. Sorry @Baldand for my own stupidity! I'll retry to download from your bitbucket site once again. Be in touch!

@Danne -- I'm currently uploading a few clips onto Vimeo after using the new workflow you proposed from earlier. Thanks & Be back to you shortly!

@dmilligan -- I went ahead and downloaded the modified workflow that you created w Danne's and it is now enlisted under my 'Service' package. Thanks for that, However from what I am seeing... it seems that I am unable to locate the new files after the process is completed? (It seems to be too quick almost as if it didn't work properly) Thanks again for your work though! (I'm more than happy to help improve your workflow as well)

Because earlier today with the cr2hdr-r app that Danne suggested worked flawlessly as far as I'm concerned.

should I stick with Danne's original way or try with the new workflow?

Unless I am missing something?
#3287
I hope so too and I just clicked on one of the DNG's and open it in ACR just to take a peek and its quality... I must admit that it is coming out much cleaner than it does directly from MLVFS alone (not sure why) but now my only question is...

In ACR -- is it a good idea to NOT implement with the highlights/shadows or does that not matter because the same levels has already been applied from the cr2hdr app itself?

I actually like doing your trick with adjusting the TONE CURVES within the Darks & Shadows.

P.S. If I still see some hot/pink pixels (EOS-M) do I just use MlRawViewer AFTERWARDS to export as DNG's with the Hot Pixel Remover enabled or is that not necessary? (Because in the newer version of MLVFS which has a built in OS to show the options to choose from such as HPR)  ::)

I'm still waiting for the the converts to be done within the Cr2hdr app.

To be continue...
#3288
@Danne -- Thanks again for your second PM... after reinstalling the exiftool, dcraw from within the folder that I downloaded per your suggestion.

Now I can see that it actually converts four of CR2/DNG's seamlessly... Macbook Pro 2006 running Mavricks has not been feeling HOT as of yet. LOL

But I'll be online waiting for the converts to be done and then will try to export it as a quicktime ONCE I color grade them in ACR just to see how it turns out, especially with the same levels being applied from the automator (sweet stuff @Danne!!!)

Unless I'm told otherwise... Thanks again mate!

Be in touch...
#3289
@Danne -- Thanks again for your PM regarding this new tool. After watching your tutorial and carefully read your instruction on how to install the command tools and to edit them in text editor as well...

This is what I'm seeing...

I read it somewhere whereas you mentioned that I need to make sure both draw & exiftool must be in the same location?

My question would be should I locate the files and move them within or should I just redownload them and place them into the same location as the new folder that was created for the DUAL ISO files to be exported into?

Thanks again for creating this great tool. Such a time saver (when I get it right! =))
#3290
@baldand -- Thanks for the clarification on that part with the DNG's exports regarding Mac's. However, Once I tried to uninstall 1.3.2 and install 1.2.3 and now whenever I try to run it... nothing pops up like as if I didn't install it properly but I know I did.

Thoughts?

I completely uninstalled with CleanMyMac 2. Not sure if that actually gets the job done?

Thanks again!

**This is what is happening every time I open the app to try and run it...
#3291
For those who are curious... I decided to put together a rough cut of all of each .MOV export as batch (Press C) from MlRawViewer 1.3.2 and then export it as a quicktime format from Premiere Pro just so you all know what it looks like when we export as a batch as oppose to single file by file within the amazing program in mlrawviewer and all the thanks goes to @baldand!

This was all shot in RAW 1080p 24fps (along with a several 3x crop mode shots) with nightly build from Sept 27th.

p.s. Not sure why the footage turn out cropped in the last few clips towards the end of this video. Perhaps I had them in crop mode and forgot to stretch it out? But again I thought if we shoot in 3x crop mode which should still come out 1080p regardless. Weird?
#3292
Did some more testings with DNG's exports and yet they are both still showing the pink frames. Anyone experiencing the same issue with MlRawViewer 1.3.2 on a Mac running 10.9.5?

Hello @Baldand -- I did some more testing today with 1.3.2...

OSX Macbook Pro 15 inch 2006 10.9.5

I think what caused the weird focus movements from my previous video was caused by Exporting All Files with Current Settings (Press C) and then I tried another test whereas I just export as a single file (same video below) which came out just fine... could this be a bug?

#3294
the .mov files came out looking like this... (although I did exported twice just to make sure)

anyone else experiencing the similar issue that I am dealing with?
#3295
Once again another great update from @baldand -- I'm enjoying MLRawViewer more than ever. If I'm not wrong but it seems to be running more smoothly and doesn't lag as much as it used to do. This is one of the best tools for those who are in tight timing space and need to get ProRes or DNG's ASAP... looking forward to more updates in the near future!

THANKS!

;D

*edit*

Actually I just tried exporting as .MOV and apparently it won't recognize the format via Quicktime nor Premiere Pro as well. Worked fine on 1.2.3 but not for 1.3.2 unless I'm missing something...

Thoughts?

I'm curious to see 22mm on my 16-35L w 5D3 on the gimbal TYTO that I can borrow from work and compare that with your beautiful modified sigma! So jealous... ;)
#3297
I guess that makes sense and we are better off to do it in this way until these issues has been resolved regarding the plugin for LR5, correct?

Also not sure how I could add the cr2hdr 20-bit UEF file on my desktop per your suggestion in the video you just sent me?

Thanks again for the follow-up and can't wait to hunt down some serious 2.5k dual-iso with the 5D3 and give this EOS-M a break. (can't stand the hot/dead pixels EOS-M produces!)

Perhaps I'm in sort of a 'hybrid' mode between the 5D3 & EOS-M... Preserving the shutter counts along!
#3298
I believe that I am also getting the same bug and here are the post of the settings in LR5 with the latest cr2hdr 20-bit Beta 3

#3299
***UPDATE***

Actually I went into some troubleshooting and decided to take the DNG's (exported from MLVFS and not yet used black/white command in Terminal -- because I figured I could get this taken care of while converting through cr2hdr 20-bit plugin in LR5...

It's currently processing... apparently it cannot be done if the folder containing the DNG is in an external drive (must be on system's drive) is this normal???
#3300
So here I did the update to the latest MLVFS, adjust Black/White levels in Terminal and then re-export the DNG's. Then I tried to apply the cr2hdr 20-bit convert and again ran into this error where it says 'no image'... feels like a never ending climb on this one giant wall of ERRORS after one another.

@Danne -- do you think this could be related to the current settings in LR5 w the plugin that I am using for these particular DUAL-ISO files?

Here's what it looks like...

Ugh...
