Feature Requests / Mass storage module
July 28, 2013, 03:10:31 PM
Hi!

With all new features we have now (RAW video, video log, etc.) it would be easier if our cameras could be recognized as a mass storage device, isn't? :D

We could download all files not seen by the original Canon software without remove/replace the memory card; it's not really a problem for SD cards, but it's not very good for CF cards to be remove/replace many times (because of pins).
And it would be faster; just plug the camera and go. :)

Maybe it could be done with a module file?

Hello all ;)

Fantastic job for this 14-Bit RAW video!
Tons of thanks!

After use it some times it's well working except:
With last builds (2013-07-11 ~ 2013-07-25) I get the same bug reported by Siberia in post http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5533.msg61762#msg61762
-> with FPS override set at low FPS there's a frame doubling in RAW videos. the sequence is (frame numbers): 121314151617(...) after extraction with RAW2DNG (build 2013-07-15).

Other bug, maybe with the same origin: With FPS override, multiple RAW video files (RAW, R00, Rnn) cannot be concatenated with the DOS cmd line copy /B and DNG cannot be extracted in individual video files by renaming in RAW.
The error message is in both of cases: 'Error: This ain't a lv_rec RAW file'

And beside, I tried to change the colour of the frame border (white border on screen) in RAW video mode without success: Is there a way? Because this border is flicking... :'(

*Edit to add the error message.

Feature Requests / Re: Hot Pixel Mapping.

Since Canon already does it, what's the point?
I'm agree with feureau; Canon Frw do that _in theory_ but it's not really working fine.
You can test it by recording an 1fps/1s exp. video @2500ISO with ML (extreme config, for enlighting). Don't wast your time to run sensor cleaning, even for 1hr or ten times, hot pixels will be not filed.

Note, I'm using custom hot pixel map on CHDK and it's very nice. Good bye hot pixels, even in 1024s exposure on a small SX200.

Hi,

It's a useful feature, maybe it's possible to incorporate it in ML?
-> take picture with curtain close, as Canon Frw do when you select long exposure noise reduction, but on demand.

Some threads talking about this (last year), but without feature request.
'Sure that astronomers will be interested.

Thanks ;)

FAQ already processed :) As all other docs here.
I saw many new impressive features, good job guys!

Possible I'll post some questions in right sections if I don't myself find answers ;)
