This is crazy awesome!!!!

I'll probably edit out the clips of me but for now it gives you and idea of skin tones on a overcast evening.
Canon 5d Mark III
Canon 50mm 1.4
3008x1280 2.35:1
Magic Lantern 14 Bit RAW Lossless Compression
MLV Lite
Music licensed from Audiojungle.
Davinci Resolve Color management with Arri Log C selected for all.
Very light grade. Darker and low saturation. Color shift in the Gamma and Offset color wheel. S curve applied for contrast. No LUTs.
Default sharpness in RAW tab which is 10 I believe. WB set to daylight. Used RAW Zebras.
I exported to Cineform AVI to edit in Sony Vegas Pro 12.
Then I export to Cineform AVI medium quality to upload to vimeo.
I was actually using the
magiclantern-compressed_raw.2017Apr03.5D3113. If the compression rate stayed high enough I could get fairly long clips.
I did it the old 5x zoom way which is super difficult to frame.
I used the RawFlow app
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13338.0
but then replaced the MLVD_DUMP with the newest version.

So what is the bottle neck for transfer speeds in the 5D3? Is it still the card reader in the camera? I thought cameras card reader was limited even with really fast cards?
Is spanning the trick for UHD?

I am super impressed by the Jan 13 experimental build the Incorporates the 10bit and crop mode. 10bit is a dream to work with. If we could just get a better preview for high resolution. But 10 bit has been working flawlessly for me. So many possibilities here for higher fps and resolution bravo.

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 5D Mark IV

QuoteI mean there are thousands of ML users out there, even if we all just chip in 1$. We could get one for them. And hopefully they can crack it.
@zerocool22 Yes we could...... and I would totally chip in but... But what the developers need most is more developers testers, and more time. Remember they are not getting paid for the COUNTLESS hours it takes to code, time not spent with family and friends, time spent at a desk.
I for one can barely grasp even the simplest forms of HTML. In time they will get to the IV and getting them one could speed it up. But DEVs gotta eat and sleep too. Imagine the complexity of the 5Divs new touch screen. And then you will have to get a few more 5Divs for others to test since, I doubt there are many that are willing to risk there brand new IV on a port. Give it time and test where and when you can. I'm thinking of attempting to try the emulator. That looks fun and you never know if you might stumble on something.

Oh wow okay I was wrong! This looked really great! It didn't look stretched. Well Done
#107
Hello! Excellent color! Question, was this stretched in post?

Oh wait 1x1 mode, you didn't have to stretch. Sorry I didn't see that!

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 5D Mark IV

I would say canon improved the 1080p h.264 a bit on the 5d4. There is more detail then the 5d3 in h.264. 5d3 + ml 1080 is still better as far as color. Obviously. I'm sure the 5D 4 will have its ML some day. Probably going to be a lot more complex but look at how stable the 5d3 is now compared to when the first beta was released.
#109
This is AWESOME!
#110
True. Maybe this should fall under the pipeline topic. But I do believe there is something else going on. I mean there is a fairly substantial detail loss there.
#111
So I most likely missed this but did anyone figure out why RAW video is so much more detailed then the h.264? Is it the the 444 vs the 420 or is it compression algorithms or do we think that canon is trying to blur those hit pixels. I noticed the 5Ds and 5DsR  have a fine detail picture style and I didn't know if this is something that could help the older cameras have a sharper h.264 option. I would think the all I codecs could provide more detail but maybe its not possible in camera at 24fps. What is the consensus on this?

I believe the proper term is motion cadence. Found a couple of links
http://www.red.com/learn/red-101/global-rolling-shutter
Red now has an optional motion mount
http://nofilmschool.com/2013/09/red-goes-global-shutter-new-motion-mount-epicscarlet-plus-new-dragon-footage

Mechanical shutter and certain global shutters can render smoother more natural motion. Research motion cadence
#113
Another thing that is difficult capture with lower budget cameras is ... well .. motion. On older film cameras , the mechanical shutter garonteed smoother motion capture at any shutter. I'm not sure if arri and red are able to achieve this digitally but it's possible. The best motion capture from any digital cinema camera in the $4000 range is the Digital Bolex. That camera , to my eye had the best color and motion capture in its class. But NOOOOOO spec hungry masses favor "4k 100p" nonsense and that's why the D16 is no longer on the market. It's VERY sad to me.
#114
Oh yeah I'm sorry I must have misunderstood this. I'm useless ha ha
#115
Wait does this mean you could possibly run ML without a card?

Yes please brief workflow!!!! Did you use the 60fps mode with FPS override then unsqueeze in post?
#117
Looks like a 5d3

#118
What type of lights are you under? You can fine tune the shutter in the ML Menu to reduce it if it's a lighting issue. Other then that, DSLRs in general don't have the best motion RAW or not. Are you sure this is a RAW issue? I think that is sensor related. In fact it has to do with the way the shutter doesnt smoothly open to the frame like say a mechanical shutter might. Its a hard cut They made something the compensate for this but I dont know what happened to it. The D16 has very nice motion capture for a digital cinema camera.
#119
I'm not trying to boost my own bug here but I believe this is MLV Pink frame related. I was just wondering if anyone has seen this. I couldnt find it in my searches. See this link in bitbucket:

Wow this is brilliant. Just red the article..... I just can't even understand this simple fix. Its over my head. Amazing work

What's you resolution? @beauchampy

I've linked to one particular message that tells you how to test things, not to the entire topic ;)
Got it!!! Thank you! Test for the sake of testing! That's very important.
#123
Im sure I can mess something up ha ha. I'm good at crashing. But I need to do more research on tragic lantern. I've never messed with TL. I've been on Nightlys since RAW vid was announced.
#124
What other testing needs to be done with this? Are there specific tests? Things we should try?
#125
Wow this looks Sick!!! Something tells me this will hit the nightlys soon!
