Is it possible to process these same files through dcraw, using the deflicker in the xmp files? I'd like to compare results but I'm a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to the command line.

dcraw can't read the xmp files. Ufraw would read the ufr-sidecars..But I don't know a way to interchange between xmp<-> ufr.

A utility that allowed you to offset exposure gain in post, whilst maintaining deflicker, would be very handy. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

I would be using LRTimelapse for manipulating the xmp files. Adjust some keyframes in LR an LRTimlapse will interpolate beetween them.

Edit:  Btw.... great work! :-)

Raw Video / Re: Weirdest thing happened today...
July 24, 2013, 08:29:50 AM
I don't have my Camera near me, so i'm writing the best my memory can serve.

shutterspeed (M or TV) set to 10 sec.
intervalometer -> set duration to 15 sec.
bulb ramping -> not needed
silent pics -> HiRes

If your wan't to create a timelapse you might have a look at this topic:

...I would to know how to activate the intervalometer+bulb timer+silent picture in order to get a raw DNG file with a shutter speed of 10sec, picture taken every 15sec. If anyone know the trick I would love to know how to do this!

Yes you can record in 640x480 crop, it's almost the same as x5 zoom crop.
The max resolution is a bit higher than 480, but not much (My 550D is not near at the moment too  :P )

BTW: I'm reading the forum almost every day, but somehow i lost track of the newest updates...
Just to be sure:
The latest RAW-build for 550D is in the regular nightlys?
And the newest rad2dng.exe is from marekk over at the 60D-Threat?

Thx

I'm just processing my first timelapse with XMPs and had no issues:
- copying files from sd to hdd
- Inside LR importing folder from hdd, grid-view (G), selecting all the images (Ctrl-A) of folder
- Select Metadata menue -> Read metadata from files.
- wait a while .... et voila
- exporting to jpg etc... (wait a very long time)  :P

not as fast as ufraw.... but at least no pink highlights.

Hi all,

I am relatively new to ML and would love to have RAW video on my 550D! Do we have a tutorial on how to install it, or is it the same process as the regular ML that I have?

Is ML RAW video on the 550D stable enough for continous recording (3-5mins)?

This is the kind of video that I would be using it for:

To me it looks like you are shooting with a wide angled lens to capture the most possible of the rooms.

So keep in mind, if shooting RAW with the 550D you will have to sacrifice fps (around 12 instead of 24) to get the full sensor size format,
or you must live with a heavy crop of around 960x540 against 1920x1080 if you want to maintain 24 fps!

I cannot get the Batch to work at all.  I've done everything it said.  I just don't get it lol.  Here's what my batch says. and yes i have UFRaw installed.

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\UFRaw\bin
ufraw-batch C:\Users\Johnnie\Desktop\Timelapse\ufrawconvert*.ufraw --out-type=jpeg

You are missing the "\" before "*.ufraw"
ufraw-batch C:\Users\Johnnie\Desktop\Timelapse\ufrawconvert\*.ufraw --out-type=jpeg

please share a link to autoETTR module

It's in the nightly builds already.

I shot at ISO 100.
I justopened the original CR2 with Rawtherapy4.0 (i think uses also dcraw), and when i enable "highlight reconstructions" the pinks are gone.

I made my first timlapse with ETTR this week. I'm very pleased with the results, the transitions are smooth and without flicker.
Sadly the final timelapse was not really exposed ETTR, but i guess that was more a problem of where to target the spotmeter.  :P

I was using the Ufraw-sidecar, which left me with some pink highlights.

A research via google returned like its a known bug for some Canon DSLRs.
As i'm using Windows (or no ability to compile myself) and i'm not familliar with Ufraw i cant' give a workaround at the moment.
I will look further into this.
I just wan't to give a hint to other users it's no fault of ML or the user themselves.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ufraw/+bug/780754
http://sourceforge.net/p/ufraw/discussion/434060/thread/b43582e3/

What amazed me most with the Timelapse is despite of stopping the invalvometer midway
(coz the pictures were getting to dark) the ML-ETTR catched up almost flawless thanks to right ETTR-processing!

Well Done Devs!

@pooli: i made the same experience today, that an older version of raw2dng works better than the newest build for my 550D footage. But i'm not sure it's an result of other parameters (green and red pixels) so i stick for the old one for now.

The video you posted is 1920x840 (there are horizontal black bands in the upper and lower part): can you post a real 1920x1080 upscalig, just to taste it ? Many thanks !  ;)

1920x840 is 1:1.875 aspect ratio, where as 1920x1080 is 1:1.78. So to get a heigth of 1080 the width must be cropped from 2025 to 1920. ;)

A very stupid question :

Testing raw video...
In Canon video mode i cannot set the shutter speed, ML bottom display says that it's fixed to 1/6 sec !
In Canon photo M mode I can set the shutter speed, ML bottom display says it's the value i'm setting, but at all effects it's overridden to 1/6 sec, and this is visible in the lv simulation and also in the playback !

Why !   :o

update : it's because i set fps override equal to 5fps... but why i cannot set a 1/1000 sec shutter speed with 5fps ? it should be perfectly legal...

Ha! Just as i was quoting you, in order to give You a hint about FPS override, You gave yourself the right answer. LOL
Its not possible to vary shutterspeed in normal way while using FPS override. You can choose some variation of shutterspeed in Advanced options of override: opt for low light = 360°, low jello = 180°.

I was going to buy a 95MB/s card to see what 550D could spit out. But on your benchmark of a 45MB/s card it couldn't even reach half that. In fact, I  got near same results on a class 6 card

Yesterday i run a benchmark test with a Transcend Premium (16GB-20MB/s), Transcend Ultimate (16GB-90MB/s) and a noname Card (8GB) on my 550D.
All 3 Cards had a writing benchmark around 15 - 21 MB/s, regardless of Globaldraw on/off etc..

Either the 550D is the limiting factor or i'm just too stupid to handle my SD-Cards  :P

Nice shoot! I really like the mood you catched with the cloudy sunset reflecting in the water.
The boat with the rope an its reflection is an eyecatcher.

But i guess sth. went wrong in the post processing:
There is some kind of duplication of the catamaran underneath it, just left to the rope.

Nice job

I second that. I did a quick tryout last night and it worked fine.
The moving orange bar at the bottom ist a nice feature too.
As far as i understand it the fps ramping starts respectivily ends at default fps (i.e. 25/30 fps),
or is it possible to go f. ex. from 1 to 15 fps?

Some promising ideas came to my mind using fps ramping over the last days, so i'm very thrilled give it a try.

With Canon giving us the "Food-with-meat-Scene-Mode" who needs ML then??? :P

Feature Requests / Re: film style "flash frame" effect

I played a bit with your Idea using the fps override of ML. Just hitting the record button while in FPS submenu and increasing the fps-value from 0.25to 25.
I doubt this will give You the desired "film look", but at least it's a starting point:
