Share Your Videos / Re: My first timelapse!

Nice start - Timelapse is really fun! :)
I see some focusing movement, so did you remembered to put your focus to manual? Or maybe aperture is in auto? I use to set everything to manual.

Good luck with roadtrip - hope you get some nice timelapses! :)

nanomad, thats great news! I promised to test some more today, but I had no time for it. But tomorrow seems to me a good day for testing :)

But when I eager to see it and pushes the Play button to early after stopping the FPS override movie I get a crash with this Crashlog:

ASSERT: 0

lv:0 mode:3

Magic Lantern version : v2.3.NEXT.2013Mar02.650D101
Mercurial changeset   : 3eecdcedfce1+ (unified) tip
Built on 2013-03-02 19:43:49 by alex@thinkpad.
Free Memory  : 381K + 3584K

Which I now see is exactly like blade's Crashlog...

Try disabling sound from Canon menu.

ML normally does that automatically, but for this it needs write access to camera settings (not available in safe mode).

Thanx a1ex! Now it's working fine :)

The weather is gray in Western Norway today. But I don't need the sun when I have the Magic Lantern Alpha 1 preview!  8)

blade; Nice too see that you have started the testing already  :)
I have also gone through some testing, and it looks good!

! The MENU's I have tested so far is tested completely  - So when nothing is mentioned I think it's working !

Installation: Smooth

General: Looks great - No more of the Canon overwiting of the ML UI.

Overlay MENU:
- Magic Zoom: As blade wrote, there is still no focus conformation.
The "fullscreen" setting of Magic Zoom isn't working well.
I have also experienced that the Magic Zoom is buggy. It's sometimes flashing, and blocks the function of the "trash/ML                             menu" button. But then i have loads of overlay on and also Motion Detect on...

Movie MENU:
- FPS override: Not working. Working after disabling sound in Canon menu  (Thanx a1ex!)
- Movie Tweaks: Force LiveView set to "Always" works when you take off the lens, but I have to manually press LV after the lens is back on.

Shoot MENU:
- Silent Picture: Can't open the .422 files in the YUV422 Convertor (Unknown image size: 1226880). Can't preview the pictures in camera ither (Set + wheel).

Display MENU:
- Advanced settings: UniWB correct; Can't see any difference... but maybe it's me... :o
- Tested HDMI out to my 1080P TV: Horisontal orange line on some of the Screen Layout's. But much better than the Pre Alpha  :)

More testing will follow tomorrow!  :D

Once a1ex reviews the feture set and builds the release package ;)

Great news and thank you Nanomad! And also a BIG thanks to A1ex for all the hard work you have done! Amazing  :)
I'm ready to start testing the Alpha1  8)

Will props be enabled in this release?

I downloaded the version in a zip folder that has 2 files, the 1st is called ML and the 2nd MAGIC.FIR
I have to extract both of the files in the memory card to boot the ML in my camera or only the ML folder?

Yes you are right. Extract the zip-file folder (that contains the ML directory and MAGIC.FIR) to the root of your card. Remember to use a cardreader - the camera wont let you write to the card.

Good luck!

Is the shutter count a true number right from it's first shot taken?

To me it looks so. I also have an old 7D, and it seems to fit the picture taken + liveview actuations.

there will be a new 7D release as soon the current changes to menu etc etc etc are done.

Really happy to hear! ML for 7D have really given the camera new life. I couldn't imagine the possibilities this software have given the camera.
I love the new tab's on the 650D prealfa. And i see really nice things happens in the "UI rationalization" thread 8)
To me the missing ML autoload isn't the biggest problem. HDR video would be nice! Will the new alpha also include PicoC scripting?
#60
baga, In live view, If you turn on "Exp. override" to ON (bottom of Expo Menu) the ISO is adjustable in ML menu. But if you take a picture you will see that your ISO was not used. Canon's ISO was used. Think this will work when props is enabled.

nanomad, Now i can reproduce camera freeze! Exp. Override: ON. ML Auto ISO: ON. Turn off camera. Turn on camera (shoot mode). LV on. Press trash (ML munu). The menu doesn't appear, but the picture and overlay is live. No other buttons respond ither. When I turn off camera the LV remains on ...Removed battery...

I have reproduced it 5 times, but it's mostly OK. With these settings the CPU is at 99-100%...

ML auto ISO can't be working, it needs prop change.

I thought it worked. Here is how i tested it:
In movie mode/AV, set the Canon ISO to 100. In ML menu set Exp override to ON. Turn the ML ISO to 100. Turn the ML auto ISO on: Now the iso rises in steps up to 1600, but the AV Shutter and Aperture sustains unchanged. The LV is now brighter, and if you shoot a movie, that will also be that bright too.
BUT the ISO only rises. Not even when i point the lens directly to bright light it goes down...
Now i see a short message on the screen when i turn on the camera with theese settings: "!!! Auto Exposure !!!  Set Movie Exposure -> Manual in Canon Menu". So I suppose Canon exposure is working in the background... :-[

Glad to see more testers here, blade! :D Good to see that you double check my testings - maybe other combination of settings can bring other results. I'm also a bit confused of what props does...  :o
#62
Thank you nanomad. That's the least I can do when I see all the time you and the rest of the team are using on making our cameras way better :)

I really like the work that have been done with the menu layout - and I see that we can expect an even more polished UI in the future.

Hey all pre-alpha downloaders; What's your experience so far? What have you been using and what have you experienced?

More of my testing results... :)

Snap points:               Not working (what is the CENTER key of the 650D, SET?)

To find bulb on 650D, just keep scrolling shutter speed in M or Tv mode past 30 seconds and the next setting is B for Bulb.

Thanks Steve. nanomad also commented that when this was initial posted. No need to read the manual when i follow this forum  ;)

I have updated my test in page 16/ #396. Latest changes in bold.
@nanomad is it OK that i update original post, or should i post it as a new post?

My progress is not impressive but i'm getting familiar with ML as i'm testing. My only comparison is the alpha for 7d ;)

And nanomad, reading camera manual is so boring. Canon should have used the info button just like you do in ML - but i suppose they are afraid to get sued my you then.;D

Updated this post on Page 18/ #437

I'm back to testing since my Camera seems unaffected by the bootflag trouble.

I can boot the camera normally without the "ML SD-Card".

First of all, Thanks a lot for your work nanomad!  :)

I had the signature/oops issue during installation, but continued without any problem. ML autoloads during every startup. I don't have any issues with short video clips.
Issues i have seen : Canon graphics sometimes overwrites the ML menu (follow focus square). Magic zoom does not draw green lines when in focus, and splitscreen does not adjust.

I am using Win8.
