BTW.. the lightroom plugin, I got that installed so if I have the lightroom plugin does that mean I don't need to go through all this barracuda BS?
No you don't.

Well, I was is Costa Mesa, California for 4 weeks and discovered in the third week that the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve was just 15 minutes walking distance from my hotel. Luckily, I had taken my 5D3 with the kit lens, my 100-400 and the 1.4x. So I went over to the preserve a few times - four or five I think. There is a good amount of wildlife there. These are the ones with DualISO. To see others I have posted, you can visit my post on CanonRumors http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=22003.0.

Thanks, that was the answer
Follow up question:
Will the bootloader stay disabled now?
Because that effects startup time, yes?
If you want ML, reinstall it and turn the camera off before the 30 sec time is out.

I didn't do the EOScard/Macboot

Here's what I did

Put SD card in camera
Format it in camera
Take it out
Copy ML files on SD card
Put in SD card
Turn on camera
Update Firmware
Says it's installed
Turn it On
Not there?

Apologies if I'm missing something super obvious
Here are some shots via my bad phone camera:

Thanks for helping me out! :)
The second pic looks to me like you waited out the 30 secs. Did you reboot before the 30 sec time out?

I highly recommend putting ML on a separate SD card and capture to a CF card. It has worked and been very stable for me this way. And you don't have to worry about reformatting the CF card and loosing ML.
+1

That is what I do and so I can swap out my CF card without worry.

what I meant is that if I convert the file to dng with another software then i try to convert it from dual iso the photo is not being processed
Why would you want to do that? The plugin does both the steps for you...

What about now? I have changed the url of the images.
Sorry, no. I picked up the URLs and tried to see them but I get this message: "Safari could not open the page as the server stopped responding".

I modify some second-hand machinery material and design a controler to control the motor

I'm not the OP, but most DIY star tracking is done in the 'hinge' or 'barndoor' style.

Spinning the drive bolt raises/lowers the lens angle. With a bit of math you can time it so 1/2 turn = 1 sec (or whatever you prefer).
Thanks! I was thinking stepper motors and electronics :)
This is much more doable.

hey everyone - this is probably a stupid question but i guess it's an easy one for you guys to answer: i would use ML on my 5dmk3 but mainly for photography, am i right that most of the "issues" are connected to raw-recording. would you say that the photo feature is "stable"
I have only use the Dual ISO feature so far but ZERO crashes. Absolutely fine for me. But read other threads.

Why do you need to convert your dual ISO cr2 to dng using another program?

NO STEDA I DIDNT GOT IT

It was very rude to receive someone new to the forums like this. I DID APOLOGIZE right after my first post, so no I was not an EXPERT in the forums before asking my very first question BIG MISTAKE...

I have paid for the ML, how many users have PAID????????????? but then, I get hammered just because some other naïve posters DARE to ask in the chat and then in the forums???

Whatever.
Hi,

Let me say this straight.

  • I have no intention of insulting you or any other member on this forum so please read the words for what they mean. There are no hidden meanings and no games being played here in this post.
  • These folks that build this fabulous software (ok, firmware...) do so on their personal time. Nobody pays them a salary. On top of that, they host a site (and that costs time and money), they answer questions, do research with no documentation from the manufacturer, and deliver fairly robust stuff.
  • Now this point is entirely my belief; that since their deliverables are not tied to revenue, they believe (and I share that belief) that sometimes artificial timelines force people to make unnecessary compromises. They do not do that. They take the time to discover things. Software takes time; especially when you are discovering in darkness - no documentation from the manufacturer. When they are seemingly not making any progress - meaning not delivering a YASR (Yet Another Stable Release) they are working on significant additions to functionality.
  • Now with the background set, I can come to the other point I wanted you to think of.
  • You said that you paid for it. I beg to differ. You, I, and many others donated money. All of us who donated money to keep this effort alive can not collectively buy out the effort - EVER!.

That is all I wanted to say. I trust that you will get a (fairly) stable release in time. Sorry, I cant give you a timeline either ;)

Hi,

I cannot convert files in DNG format. They are remaining as if they are not converted.
Walk us through the steps. Make sure you list out each step as a bullet point and I will try to help.

However, before you do that, have you looked in the folder where the dualISO CR2 file was? If you exported right, the .DNG should be there. Go into windows explorer, navigate to that folder and look.

A hawk family lives around my house and he often comes to the trees in and around the garden. Yesterday he was  eating a garden lizard and screaming at the top of his lungs. I guess he thought that it was tasty! Take a look. Personally, I'd pass ;)

Shot with 5D3 firmware 1.2.3

The first one was shot with a 100-200L @200mm, ISO 100/1600, F/8, 1/250
The second one was shot with a 100-400L @400mm with a 1.4x so @560mm, ISO 400/6400, F/8, 1/200
I left the exif on so you can see but imgur.com kills it :(.

I was shooting against the light. The sun is a little to the left of the bird.

Give Alex a break I bet he is already on that (judging from previous DUAL_ISO bugs).

In the meantime may I suggest to shoot alternating dual_iso and normal shots so at least to have a working raw file?
+1
If you are unsure then do that. That is how I started shooting dual ISO. However, now in just shoot in dual ISO mode - no alternate files.

Are most people using the older firmware?
I don't shoot video. Only stills. I am on 1.2.3.

I read the log file from cr2hdr with point decimal marker and set the metadata to the photo with this value. I can't change the displayed values because it show you the values from the metadata.

If I store into metadata a number with comma, you're a comma in your metadata.
If I store into metadata a number with point, you're a point in your metadata.

This is the data type that I allowed for metadata:

string — The field value must have a string value.
enum — The field value must have one of the allowed values specified in
the values entry. In the Metadata panel, allowed values are shown as a
pop-up menu for the field.
url — The field value must have a string value. In the Metadata panel, the
text field is acccompanied by a button that treats the text value as a URL,
opening it in the user's preferred web browser.

So I can't store a number. The unique possibility is to rewrite the number depending the system locale like I made on the try.

What do you think ?
One could do it with printf and sprintf in c++. Take a look at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14753505/c-c-printf-use-commas-instead-of-dots-as-decimal-separator.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys....great stuff going on with ML but i am wondering if there is a way to have the ML firmware on a single card that will work on both 5d mk 3 and mk 2?? Is it possible rather than having lots of expensive cards for each? :(
I would not do that. I would rather fork out 200 bucks rather than brick a body!
