Other experimental builds / Re: HDMI Output Settings (
« on: June 20, 2022, 05:23:20 PM »
Hello Together! As far as I know, using HDMI output drops a heavier load on the CPU. Would it be possible, to toggle the HDMI output with a push of a button? I would use a color calibrated HDMI monitor only to check if the aperture and the focusing is right, but I would not use the HDMI monitor during recording, to eliminate bad frames. Do you think that it would be possible?

Reverse Engineering / Re: Reverse Engineering Picture Styles

Hello! Today I tried out some picture styles on my Canon, and downloaded a few what I have found for free. I am interested in having bigger dynamic range without too much noise.
I was interested in checking the curves and settings of some, but the Picture Style Editor 1.22.20(the actual one) said that some of them is protected.
I searched for all my .pf2 and pf3 files on my PC, and found that Canon left a japanese tool called NakedPSE in the installer.
You can find them here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Canon_Inc_IC\UniversalInstaller\Install\Define\ja\NakedPSE
This program can open and edit any kind of Picture Style, does not matter if it is protected or not. You can save your modifications and import it into Picture Style Editor.
It has a long usage documentation, but all in japanese, so that is all I can say about it.

Hello! I am using this branch for a quite while now on my 600D. Unfortunately it has the SD card speed bottleneck. I would like to record raw in a better resolution but only at 8 bits. This way an "almost" 720p resolution would be possible without the compression artifacts.(I know it can be pointless as h264 has the same color depth, but the artifacts and color banding can be minimized.) Would it be possible, to implement an 8 bit raw mode? Thank you!
