Thanks for this Dmilligan,

Ok, Would it be possible for someone to help me add an existing feature that was working successfully on the T2i and get it onto the T3i? Quite a few of you helped I believe back last year.

Can you convert an autoexec.bin into source code?
#3
Hi Dmilligan

Thanks for all this, I basically just need to add some extra times to the stop after feature and that is already on my version of the 600D version.

What do you actually edit in the text editor, the autoexec.bin?
What text editor do you use?

Hi,

I am trying to compile the source code for the 600D to make some small changes to the code from an old build.
I have downloaded Hg and Virtual Box but not quite sure the steps to getting and changing the source code.

I managed to do a autoexec.bin compile but can't work out how to make changes to the code.

I have a build with some specific features on it from 2013 that works on the 550D but I need to make it work on the 600D.
Any help on this would be great,

Thanks

Feature Requests / Re: Long duration timelaspe
January 25, 2014, 06:00:47 PM
Fair point but for this use I will be using complete remote access using a PC , GB timelapse and screen sharing and setup will be plugged into mains. I won't be able to access it at all for an entire year.

As suggested by someone is this something the scripting engine could do or picoC scripting?

Feature Requests / Long duration timelaspe

Hi All,

I am working for a production company that is making a wildlife series and it will include lots of Time lapse.
We have a long duration time-lapse box that we are building but are trying to make the images have less flicker.
Is this possible to do with Magic Lantern.

Using the internal clock or Advance Intervelometer module have 2 scheduled times across the day when a photo is taken.
However, if the shutter is less than 1/200 of a second then the photo wont be taken, the camera will wait 1 min and then try agin.

This should help result in a flicker free long duration time-lapse.
Please let me know your thoughts on this?

If possible you would have a module that had these options:

Time of day for scheduled shots:
Shutter restriction not to be less than:
Wait period between taking another meter reading:

Hi,

is it possible to Tiger RAW recording through a Cam Ranger?
you can trigger h264 video, but I only have access to the camera via the shutter release port?

Feature Requests / Re: Time-lapse interval less then 1s

Thats great, I think this feature would be very useful for city time lapses.
Is anyone keen to implement it onto a moderately stable build?

Thanks very much guys for your reply.

* dmilligan - With FPS override I can only seem to shoot video, can I shot RAW stills?

I am happy with using the older version.
I am only capable of small changes in code, how would you recommend changing the old version * wolf?

I am hoping to get 2 or max 3 RAW frames per second on a really bright day using stills mode, rather than video.
The benefit of this is that you can do really nice moves in post.
I would need the interval to be accurate like it it is with the intervalometer, so I thought 0.5, 0.25 and 0.33 milli seconds might work?

Any ideas of how to do this?

Thanks
All the best

Feature Requests / Time-lapse interval less then 1s
October 03, 2013, 05:34:22 PM
Hi,

Is it possible to start a time lapse and record 2 or 3 frames per second at constant intervals?
I could change the Intervalometer code so it gave you the options for 0.33, 0.25 and 0.5s it may work?
Any thoughts?

Hi,

I was talking to a few of you on here about getting RAW recording start button select option to allow you to record with a wired remote through the cable release port?

This may be useful for anyone wanting to trigger remotely or wireless controls.

Is this possible to do?

This would be incredibly useful. Not sure if it would look the same as am ND

When it goes into canon auto power off it won't wake up with the intervoltmeter in ML?
Is this possible to make it wake up? Maybe a clock system In ML so it's set and turns on and takes a still once every 20 hours or something?

Canon standby if externally powered can last upto 3 months. The rest of the time we can use solar or wind.

#14
Hi,

Would it be possible to make ML take a Still daily over a year for a long running timelapse?
Using canon auto power off (standby mode) to save battery and only turning on at a set time in the day?

I also got the same problem of "camera model isn't supported by the installed version of camera raw" on DNGs from some RAW files, after I install the newest build. Perhaps, I need to reinstall the whole thing again to keep use RAW2DNG. Luckily, RAWMagic saved those problematic RAW file with ease. I think I will stick to RAWMagic from now on, because it gave me easier previews of CinemaDNGs than photo-DNGs from RAW2DNG.

Here are some results of SUPER MACRO clips of MP-E 65mm 1-5x macro lens combined with 5x crop mode about plankton in my nano fishtank. Fish and shrimp shots are h264, which are dramatically softer than the raw clips. But H264 are quick and dirty, working fine together with the raw sequences, although with noticeable differences.

With up to 15x macro capability, I just realised how many protists can live on a tiny stone :o . Big Diotam can be easily spotted when a baby snail  is grazing on them.

And also! Timelapse haven't been this easy to simply use 2-12fps at 1920x1080 to reveal the slow movements of protists. Big thanks to this wonderful community and developers!  ;D

Hi Andy,

This video is incredible!! It really is fantastic.
Which build did you use as I can't get that resolution on my build? Can i do this on the 5d as reduced frame rate May allow theis resolution. How did you set up lights and did you put your lens up against the glass of the tank.
I am hoping to make a tank of pond life and film similar animals for a kids show.

Thanks

@Dunc101 start here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=991.0 (I recommend using the VM compiler unless you're comfortable building your own. I tried the Windows one (cygwin) but the VM one is much better.

Get a Bitbucket account and fork from the unified build: https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern and read up on Mercurial if you haven't used it :http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/Tutorial

Clone the repo locally.

@coutts has the stubs for 40d (but I have no clue as to what you would do with them)

That's where my knowledge ends I'm afraid.

I can pull changes, do minor code adjustments and compile but beyond that I'm a complete novice. The code is usually well commented so it's a case of going through it and trying to understand it a little piece at a time.

Porting the 40d will be a much harder thing than what I am capable of so good luck if you attempt it. There is already a port for the 50d and a developer working on incorporating the new features. I'm concentrating on understanding what these new additions do and looking for bugs.

@Andy600

Thanks very much this is great.
I am a novice too but my as well try.
@coutts any idea what to do with the stubs?

@Dunc101 - Sorry, not possible yet. We need a dev with a 40d to port the changes as it's much harder to do without having the actual camera to hand in order to test every change. It might be looked at after the 50d is sorted.
@Andy600 -
I have the basics to hacking in a compiler, I could try, if I can have a few pointers.

Raw Video / RAW TL feature
May 27, 2013, 05:24:53 PM
Hi guys,

It seems from this test that the 5D mark II can manage the highest resolution shooting 0.5fps.
Maybe it would be possible to make it shoot full chip resolution TL with no mirror movement?

I know video TL using fps look different to normal RAW but it would be useful.

Here is my short test:

This is a TL test that was shot at almost full resolution with not a single dropped frame.
1880 x 1052 on a 5D mark II, 21st build.
I put FPS over ride to 0.5fps
RAW Video 1880 x 1052
Vari ND used, edited in AE RAW and Premier Pro.
The buffer was always less than ** and I could have continued forever with no dropped frames at all.

Also this test was done here:

Trying to find a practical use for the RAW video feature, The one that really pops out to me is the ability to do time lapses without having to add any shutter actuations to the camera

This test took 1 hour out behind my house, pretty dark aside from the full moon blasting the scene
5D Mark 2 May 20th build
640 ISO
T/1.5
FPS Override 0.178
RAW Video 1880x1250

I had to really adjust the color in post because the RAW kicked the magenta up a lot
Also had artifacts at the bottom of the frame

http://i.imgur.com/G1N6ya8.jpg

and there was this weird problem where every other frame was the first frame...
so instead of capturing 323 I actually captured 162

So I did a 162 frame time lapse without ever taking a picture ;]

Have any of you had experience with getting the playback function on the mark IIi to work on mark 2?

I was thinking of trying it out?

Has anyone noticed you can record h264 video while recording RAW?

that is very cool as you can do an exact comparison.

Also when zooming 5 x has anyone pink haze over LV?

Can you still hide the features in the new nightly build?
When I try the normal way, It changes to a grid list of the features.

Thanks
