I have used them both for exactly what you are attempting. I shoot wildlife documentaries. I bought the bmcc for the crop sensor primarily and of course the 2.5k raw was a nice perk. After using it for a few days I realized its quite different. I had been using DSLRs for a few years prior. The camera is awkward to use and the added things like batteries make it even heavier and more awkward. The image quality was really nice and the 2.3 crop was really awesome for wildlife though. Low light was average at best. I felt like it was pretty close to a 7D and not as good as the 5d2 which is what I had at the time. Im now using 5d3's and filming raw because of the Magic Lantern Hack. The 3x crop mode holds up extremely well and looks just as good as the full frame stuff. Low light is far superior and the camera is much easier to use (ergonomics and accessories like batteries). Not to mention weather sealed to withstand some serious elements which I run into often. Also of course you are holding onto an excellent photography camera which is a great bonus.

Pros for 5d3 in my opinion:
- Easier to use
- More crop when wanted/needed
- Photos
- Weather Proofing
- Lighter
- Low Light Performance

It didn't sync at 25fps either. It just happened for one particular case (it's pure luck).

A1ex do you think its fixable? Is it something we will potentially see working in the future?

Well that makes sense. I thought I was going crazy... Hope you can get it straightened out. I could really use at least a scratch audio file that will easily sync to the video file. Don't need it in crop mode (although ill use this a lot for wildlife). Just full frame hopefully in both 24fps and 30fps. The improvements over raw and H.264 are amazing! Excellent work im amazed!

Raw Video / 5d3 Raw Video Has No Audio
July 11, 2013, 08:54:16 PM
I feel like im missing something. Im running the most current software using a komputerbay 64gb card and recording 1920 raw no problem. Also doing 720 60fps no problem. But there is no audio .wav files anywhere. I can record a .wav file in the audio menu by its self but not while recording. I turned FPS override on and enabled separate .wav file recording and still no audio files. Can someone walk me through the steps needed to get audio working? I have scoured the internet and can't find anywhere anyone talking about how to make it work.
Thanks
