Hi all,

I'd like to cut a step in my current workflow tha is at the moment:

1) convert mlv with raw2cdng into dng files
2) in Davinci Resolve, convert dng files into DNxHD 444 ArriLogC files
3) edit DNxHD files in my projects

I'd like to cut step 1 and starting directly converting the mlv files in Davinci. My ipothetical solution would be to use webdav MLVFS version for windows

In my attempts, I succesfully imported in Davinci the mlv clips from the virtual directory created in webdav. And I can see the clips but I cannot play them, only see them frame by frame. If I try to play them, I get some corrected frames alternated with red warnings frames (I suppose indicating missing frames) but again, if I see them frame by frame, I can see all of them.

I have anyway put the clips in a timeline and tried to render them. The result is unsuccesful: I get a crash of the converter at the first red warning frame davinci finds in the timeline.

I guess it's a disk speed issue and I am writing for a confirmation :)

In my test configuration the mlv files are on an usb3 external disk. Should I buy a 1TB internal ssd in order to get it work?

Thank you for your help  :)

Hi,

I started recording our clips in raw (mlv format) and I am enthusiast about the results.

As already said... thank you A1ex and ML guys for this  :)

The other side of the coins is obviously the huge amount of data to storage comparing to h264 clips.

I already ordered a new NAS with 12TB of HDs (2 x 6tb) but I am afraid It will not last long.

What do you guys usually do?
- Do you keep your MLVs or convert them?
- Do you store them in HDs or else?
- do you store 1 copy or do also a backup somewhere else?

Thanks  ;)

Raw Video / cannot record without cropping
July 28, 2013, 12:05:31 PM
Hi all,

I am an usual ML user and I am thrilled about this great new option!  :)

I have installed the MK11174 on my 550d, made some testing clip (resolution is 960x540, 16:9) and converted with ra2dng converter.

I don't understand why my clips are always only an inner part of what I see on the screen. In other words, the clip is like cropped.

Am I missing something or this is the way it's supposed to work? Maybe I am not able to disable the 5x crop mode? (Actually I don't think I have ever activated it  ::))

Thank you for your help  :)
