Hi,

I am shooting 23.976 1/48 shutter speed with nightly on my 7D.  I double-click the MLV file in my card's folder and a WAV file is created.  I then go into ML RawViewer, export the DNGS, take the DNGS into Lightroom, export TIFFS, make an image sequence in Compressor and then take the sequence into FCPX.  I then drag the WAV file under my sequence in FCPX.  The WAV will not match up with the clip.  I used a clapper board.  I read that you line up the beginning and then just snip off the end of the audio file but this isn't the case with my attempt to sync.

The boom mic and camera mic audio are syncing together fine, but the picture doesn't seem to be able to sync with any of the audio.  It eventually becomes out of sync after the clapper board sound.  Am I doing something simple that is causing me not to be able to line up picture and sound?  I don't understand why it won't just sync.

*Also, I don't know if this applies but when I move my .WAV file from the card folder to the desktop I get this error on my Mac. "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "M17-0940.WAV" can't be read or written.
(Error code -36)"

General Help Q&A / 7D Stills Question-Nightly
February 12, 2015, 06:01:48 AM
When I am looking at the screen before taking the shot, it looks fine.  Then, I take the shot and it's dark.  I have Expo. Override and ExpSim ON.  This happens from time to time in the middle of shooting with clients and I always have a minor heart attack.  Why is it doing this?  It only happens every once in a while.  I'm exposing correctly.

Hi,

I've been exporting TIFFs from Lightroom, dragging the folder into the FCPX timeline, chainging duration and creating a compound clip, but there is a LOT of lagtime.  Is there a way to just create a 16-bit .MOV with QT Pro 7 or Compressor 4 to edit with?  I'm getting pretty desperate here.   A little help would be great.

So, I have been exporting DNGs via MLRawViewer, then taking the DNGs into LightRoom, exporting as TIFs to my desktop, then dragging them into FCPX (changing duration, compound clip).  I prefer not to use DaVinci because I am so familiar with LightRoom and FCPX, but when dragging 1000+ TIFs into FCPX, it is taking forever...even after installing an SSD drive.

My question is, is there another step I can implement in order to speed up the process.  I have heard Quicktime 7 can produce an image sequence.  Is there a possibility of importing the TIFs into Quicktime 7, then importing a .MOV file into FCPX to speed things up?

Please let me know what you think and how I can continue to use LR and FCPX, yet speed things along.

Thanks!

Hi,

First off, I'm so very happy to have this convenient software. :)

Previously, I had 1.2.3 and was having problems with it skipping when trying to view mlv files.  I now upgraded to 1.4.1 and it's doing the same thing.  I am shooting at 24fps with 1/48 shutter on my 7d (Nightly).  I'm also getting vertical black banding and was hoping someone knew of a way to get rid of this.

Everything seems to play 24fps after exporting and into FCPX, but was wondering if I need to change a setting within MlRawViewer so I can view the footage without stutter and what can be done about the banding.

I'm kind of desperate here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

General Help Q&A / Having Trouble with 60fps (7D)
October 10, 2014, 08:25:47 AM
I'm using Nightly.

I read that I should change the Canon setting to 1280x720 60fps, Set FPS Override to 60fps in ML menu, Shutter Speed 1/125, set resolution to 1280x494 at 1.85.1 (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12125.0).

I'm still getting many many pink frames.

Some of the other instructions I've tried have not worked for me either.  Is there a combination of settings someone wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks!

General Help Q&A / Stills Exposure Question
September 26, 2014, 03:44:37 AM
Hi,

Today I was taking photos, and after changing to a new battery, all of my photos started coming out much darker than when previewing in Live View.  I asked this question once previously and was told to turn On 'Expo. Overide' and turn off 'FPS Overide', which I did, and it worked fine until today for some reason.
I am using Nightly Build with the 7D.  Can you think of any reason why this would start doing this?

Thanks!

General Help Q&A / Audio failed to stop, state 4
September 10, 2014, 06:57:10 AM
Hi,

I'm shooting RAW video (not MLV) on the 7D and it says "Audio failed to stop, state 4" everytime after I shoot a clip.  I also notice that there is no .WAV file.  I have all of the modules enabled.  The levels show activity when recording.  I tried to search the above message, but didn't find any answers.  Perhaps it's something simple I'm not doing.

Thanks in advance.

General Help Q&A / 7D Stills LiveView Question
September 02, 2014, 10:05:19 AM
Hi,

So, I have just started using Magic Lantern (Nightly) on my 7D and for some reason the picture in Live View is showing it as being overexposed, then I take the photo and the shot is much darker.  To make myself clear, the photo is not the same exposure as when I am attempting to set up the shot.  Is there a simple reason for this?  Thanks!

So, I am just getting started...
I shot a little to test today (7D), dragged the raw file into raw2dng, which gave me the dng folder and a .mov file.  What is the new .mov file?

I downloaded DaVinci Resolve as well.  I just want to get a workable file into FCPX to edit.  Any suggestions would be helpful?  I will continue to watch tutorials.  Thanks!

So, I have 2.0.3 and Nightly on my 7d.  When I go to the menu under "Movie" in Magic Lantern it says "Bit Rate", "REC key", "FPS override", "Vignetting" and "Movie Tweaks" but that's it....there's no option for RAW video.

Do I need to add something else?  Let me if this sounds like a familiar problem or if you need more info to pin down the problem.  I assumed I just simply needed to update to 2.0.3 and then add Nightly and that was it.

Please let me know.  Thanks!
