Rumored specifications from Canon Rumors

  • 45mp full-frame sensor (Same as the EOS R5)
  • DIGIC X
  • IBIS
  • Canon Log 3
  • Canon Log 2 is still being discussed
  • No Internal NDs
  • Unlimited 8K30P recording in Cinema RAW Light. XF-AVC and MP4
  • Timecode in/out
  • The same multipurpose hot shoe as the EOS R3. Which will work with accessories such as the Tascam XLR module.
  • Active cooling
  • 3/8″ or 1/4″ mounting point on the EVF for a top handle that won't interfere with the hot shoe.
  • Full-size HDMI Port
  • The LCD has been moved further back to accommodate the cooling fan. So this likely means that it won't recess into the body like the Canon EOS R5.

General Chat / Canon 6D Mark II - coming in early 2017
September 11, 2016, 05:46:24 PM
This came in at friday from canonrumors newsletter:

Quote from: canonrumorsThe Canon EOS 6D Mark II
We're told that we should expect the Canon EOS 6D Mark II to be announced in early 2017, well ahead of NAB in April.
Keep an eye on these emails, as we hope to give some exclusive 6D Mark II information as it becomes publishable.
There's nothing about this on the site yet, but earlier rumors say the same:

April 15

Camera-specific Development / Canon 5D Mark IV

"CANON ANNOUNCES THE EOS 5D MARK IV"
http://www.canonrumors.com/canon-announces-the-eos-5d-mark-iv-dslr/

****************************************************************************
Release date is supposedly 25th and big 5D event starting couple of days after that in Japan.

Lot of reliable rumors surfacing [link updated, full list]:
http://www.canonrumors.com/full-specifications-images-of-eos-5d-mark-iv/

Worst thing so far: No CFast card.
Same codec as in 1DX mark II: 4:2:2 8bit 500mbps MJPEG
No word about uncompressed HDMI out or any LOG, neither of these in 1DX mark II.
Biggest scare so far: Speculation about leaving DPAF out (which sounds crazy).

Newer CPU tough, so...maybe better FullHD ML RAW capabilities at least...

Edit: changed title from "Canon 5D Mark IV - two weeks out"
Edit2: changed title from "to be announced next week"
Edit3: changed title from "Few More Days"

General Chat / 1D X II
January 30, 2016, 09:46:58 AM
Here next week.

Speculation, leeks and rumors for specifications have been going for so long, that the list has tighten up.
Consensus seems to be that it'll arrive as 20.2MP camera.

Which is great. 2016 and the larger photosites of Alev III still rule the world. Also 5D3 which supposed to be overrun by now, is still more than relevant.
That 20MP suggest that the image out of this beast will be exceptional.

Now, 4k with CFast cards, the RAW from 1DX II would be amazing.

Which brings us back to the dead horse.
(Yes I've read the old posts).

Allegedly, Canon once tread with legal action against ML if touching 1D, this of couse was probably just internet horse shit.
Also one argument for not going for 1D X ML was that only for few ML users would have that, so it wasn't worth it(?!)
And lastly, who would provide expensive camera for ML testing?

Well, many who are still in the game, are thinking of going the next level cameras anyway.
Also, we got linux now! MLVProducer! It's exploration, science! And what was the original thought behind ML...

So... I know you are interested.  ;)

P.S. Please no lazy replies about Apertus Axiom. That's nothing away from ML.

General Chat / 5D IV / C

Sweet, sweet CR2 level rumor at always reliable Canonrumors:
http://www.canonrumors.com/2015/02/possible-canon-eos-5d-mark-iv-spec-talk-cr2/
CR2 means the good stuff. Lately the 5D s and r were first leaked correctly at Canonrumors.

If I'm not mistaken 5D s and r were related to earlier 1D models and this one is most likely based on the 1D C sensor, as there's 18mp "only". That will be great tough, for video, as 18mp is 5208 x 3477 making good quality 4K possible, and most likely keeping costs on current level. There is also EOS-1D X Mark II coming that will issue other needs. Also s and r have their place. So this is almost like made for ML movies.

Also it seems that stalling to buy current CF cards more than absolutely needed, is paying off. CFast is coming like hoped. Double. And that's the future for long time. Probably the greatest news for ML devs.

In theory this means that the current Magic Lantern limitations of 5D3 speeds would be gone and in 12 to 24 months we could get 4K Raw out of that baby... in Canon quality package.

EDIT: Changed the name of the topic. Original was:   5DIV / X - CFast - 4K - less than 12 months - Canonrumors [CR2]
