Post-processing Workflow / Dual ISO with Mac El-Capitan
November 30, 2015, 09:51:05 PM
I have read some previous posts on this topic, but it all seemed like a foreign language to me and I am wondering if anyone can help me.  I had dual ISO processing set up on my computer and then made the mistake of updating to El-Capitan and my batch mode dual iso convertor no longer works.  Whenever I try to drag a folder over the cr2hdr icon I get the message sj: draw: comment not found sh: exiftool: command not found sh draw: command not found Error: draw is not a valid PGM.  it seems to me that the program no longer recognizes the directories where the executables are stored.  So I modified my .bash_profile to show that path length and it still does not recognize where the executable is.  I would have tried to do the same thing with exiftool, but to be honest I used the installer to install that and I am not sure what directory it is in.  Has anybody else been able to solve this problem, and if so can you give me some instructions on how to fix this?

I am using a Canon 6d with the dual iso option.  As a test I turned the light off in the room I am in and kept the light on in the hallway and took a picture through the door.  I took the first picture at iso 200 and the second with the dual iso feature turned on to 200/3200.  The picture came out heavily banded because of how the sensor scans one line at iso 200 and the other at 3200 as I would expect.  I downloaded exiftool and draw along with the cr2hdr.app and dropped the .CR2 file in the window and it successfully converted it to a .dng file.  However, the converted .dng file looks identical in dynamic range to the original shot just taken at iso 200.  I must be missing something, can anyone give me any suggestions.  I would attach the photos as jpegs here to show what I mean, but when I hit the attachments and other options button, it does not lead me to any method of attaching a file.

General Help Q&A / Bulb Ramping with the Canon 6D
May 15, 2014, 03:14:07 AM
I am about to try some methods with Magic Lantern to do the equivalent of Bulb Ramping; however, the current version of ML for the 6D does not seem to have ETTR in the package.  I am going to try to use the linear exposure ramping function to produce a time lapse of the sunset from about an hour before sunset to an hour after sunset.  Does anyone have any recommendations for the ramp rate that might fit this attempt?  Also, it sounds as if ML bases the exposure ramping from a combination of aperture changes and ISO changes.  If I use a lens that has no electrical connection to the camera will it just try to adjust the ISO or will it behave in an unexpected manner?

I have a Canon 6d and have installed and ran Magic Lantern from a 64 GB card.  When everything, I believe is relevant is on the card I have a 524 kB auto exec.bin file, a 131 kB ML-6D113.FIR file and a folder titled ML containing 40.4 GB of files and folders, leaving a mere 18 GB of space to place photos.  Are any of the files I have on my disk not required after I have installed the software, or am I unfortunately left with a  mere 18 GB of free space?

I am trying to download ML for my 6d using software from the nightly build, since I am told that is all that is available for the 6d.  I follow the link to builds.magiclantern.fm/#/ and click the download button.  It downloads a folder titled ML and another file titled auto exec.bin, but there is no fir file.  When I take the files produced in the download and load them onto the root directory, the camera tells me that it is not detecting any firmware to update the camera with, which i suspect is the lack of a .fir file.  I have downloaded the software more than once from the website, but the results are always the same, no .fir file is produced.  Can someone let me know where I am going wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

User Introduction / Hi from Washington state
March 18, 2014, 04:27:33 PM
Hi,

I am new to this forum and software but am looking forwards to digging in.  Most of my programming experience is in numerical methods with Fortran and C with some C++ and python experience, but programming for applications is something new to me, so I am looking forwards to this learning experience and seeing the results on my 6d and maybe on my 70d someday.  I especially have some interest in programming solutions for night time time-lapse photography, with noise reduction in mind.

General Help Q&A / 6d beta or supported version
March 18, 2014, 01:04:15 AM
Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and have a few questions.  I have a 6d running firmware version 1.1.2 and would like to install magic lantern on it.  The ML page states that the Canon 6d is supported, but when i go to the download page, it does not mention the 6d as being supported at this time, nor version 1.1.2.  I guess my question is, "is it supported, or at the very least is there a beta version available that can be installed with a Macintosh computer?".  Thanks for any information you can give me.
