Hi all,

Sorry for the dumb question... I'm just a little confused. I have a 600D/T3i with Magic Lantern 2.3 installed and I'm considering upgrading to the nightly builds.

I'm just a little unsure how to actually update ML, I have read the ML wiki and it says under the updating section: "Simply delete your old Magic Lantern files from your card and copy the new ones."  I have also read the Nightly Build forum page and it says: "Delete ALL old files from card i.e. autoexec.bin and the entire ML directory and replace by new files.  Do not mix old with new." However, I saw a youtube video and the person left the old 2.3 files on the sd card and then copied and replaced the new files with the old ones - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS2XAdmty0o. But then there would still be old files on the sd card, such as the .fir files and pdf files etc. Also watching that video, his nightly build includes a .fir file for his camera - where as the 600D nightly download doesn't contain a .fir file. Having searched around further I found this forum post - http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13709.0

So basically I am just a bit confused as to the actual procedure of upgrading from 2.3 to the nightly build.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I thought the more information I provide the better.

General Help Q&A / Shutter Speed 600D
December 26, 2013, 08:31:06 PM
Hi, All

I'm new to magic lantern, and I noticed that I can either change my shutter speed from 1/46.9 or to 1/50.4, I am shooting in 1080p 24 on a 600D.

I have looked around and some people have had the same situation, but I can't find a solution to make the shutter speed go to 1/48, and I'm not sure if that's possible.

Before I installed magic lantern, I would use the recommended 1/50th shutter speed with 1080p 24. Now, I'm using magic lantern, and I have a little more choice, I wondered if I could set the shutter speed to 1/48? And if not, which would be the best shutter speed to use, 1/46.9 or 1/50.4?

Thanks in advance,

Rob
