General Help Q&A / TV Monitor and LCD at same time?
January 30, 2013, 06:31:55 AM
I'm guessing there's no way to monitor my shots with either A/V or HDMI plugged into a TV AND see the shots on the LCD at the same time.   Seems that the act of plugging in either A/V or HDMI cables into my T2i automatically shuts off the LCD--something built into the Canon hardware.   Probably the Canon doesn't have enough processing power to send signals to an external TV and the Canon LCD at the same time.  And of course it would be even more difficult while recording.  Am I right?

General Help Q&A / Using Canon WB presets in Movie mode
January 06, 2013, 08:39:33 PM
How do I access the regular Canon presets for White Balance in ML movie mode?
Right now it's great for kelvin, and of course I can just remember that tungsten is 3200, daylight 5600, etc.
But I'd still like to press a button and get them, and also what if I need to do a custom white balance?
This is probably explained already somewhere, but I can't find it.

Putting this question here.  Did not get a response from one of the main developers====
How does ML get around the fact that .FIR files need a digital signature (something only Canon should have?) in order to change the Boot From Card bit in firmware?
Does ML "forge" this signature?

Post-processing Workflow / Shooting 24p on a T3
December 21, 2012, 06:14:18 AM
Has anyone tried shooting 24p on a T3 using undercranking of a 720 30p format?  I'm assuming the file produced would play at 30p and would be imported into an editor like FCP at that rate.  So then you could tell FInal Cut to play it back at 80% and it would be normal speed.  And if you wanted to be really fancy, you could record separate sound, head AND tail slate it, mark the IN and OUT points on both the audio and video, and then do a "Fit to Fill" command with the audio and it would be in sync.  It this correct?

General Help Q&A / Running the camera without ML
December 20, 2012, 04:35:16 AM
It says in the installation guide that you can uninstall ML on one card by running the uninstall feature from the camera menu.
That's fine.  I get it--this piece of code removes the info from the card's boot sector.
But what happens if I turn the camera off, put in a brand new unformatted card, and then turn the camera on.
Won't that work, too?

This may sound stupid, but when is ML in effect and when is it not?  I think it works like this: after the initial installation, in which you do a mock firmware update and set a bit so that the camera will read the memory card upon startup, then whenever a card with the ML files is in the camera you will have the ML features when you turn on the camera.  Otherwise, if you put in a blank card, you won't have ML.  Is that right?  And if true, then the ML files have to be copied to every card that I use?
