He had to come up with a justification for the cost of the repair. But perhaps he actually replaced only this part:)

Oh! That could be true yes.

Well he didn't say how he thought it got damaged. It was my own guess as it stopped working these two times after I used
the FPS Override Mode. Probably the repair cost was too high yes. But I do still think that's how it broke as it happened twice.

I remember the aperture started jumping back and forth between two settings and clicking loudly for a bit before it eventually became unusable. The lens is a Tamron macro lens AF 70 mm - 300 mm f/4-5.6 D on a 600D. No idea what ML version this was, it's a while ago, but I assume it's due to the specific mechanics of this lens in combination with FPS override and, should it indeed be caused by the FPS override, is probably a consistent thing throughout all ML versions and cameras.

@Mr 'Hero Member': Drop your internet forum attitude please or stop posting altogether it's pathetic.

Just a little Warning to hopefully save others this pain:

I had to have my Lens (TAMRON 70-300 mm Tele Macro Lens) repaired twice & I'm pretty sure the feature FPS Override caused
the damage:

When adjusting the aperture whilst operating at very low FPS settings (Video Mode or Live View Preview e.g. for getting a brighter preview when taking pictures in dark environment),
there can be a delay of several seconds for the new aperture setting to take effect after it's been set (it will only be adjusted once live view refreshes the frame, which, at FPS settings such as 0.750, 0.500 and so forth, can take several seconds)

This delay can apparently cause some electronic parts of the lens to take physical damage, perhaps due to an ongoing electrical impulse
(so the guy at the repair center told me) - not sure how exactly it works, but it is likely that there is a connection to the described
FPS Override Mode & this damage as my lens could then not control the Aperture anymore & I had to get it repaired twice.
I was told the mechanics for controlling the Aperture got fried.

I stopped changing the Aperture Setting when using FPS Override and the lens has been working fine scince.

I'm not sure if other lenses are affected by this but it seems likely!

Just to save you the trouble - watch out for that combination of controls!  :-*
