Great news!
Just a question... If the old nightly is properly installed, the tipical update (deleting and copying new files in sd) is still enogh. True?

Enviado desde mi LG-D855 mediante Tapatalk

Yes, it's a mistake reported. There's no .fir file in the nightlies, so you need a 2.3 version to get it from. So, should not be removed from website...

It's a locale problem (for sure you're not in English in your linux box). It's explained in another thread (I suffered this also first time) easy to solve. I'm not at home, and searching by Tapatalk is mad... But try to search, and if not, I'll do when arriving home

Right, ebetecos. NB should contain everything needed, but lack some minor things... They become just the things you have to change over 2.3 to get the last NB...

Copy all files from 2.3 stable on sdcard. Then overwrite JUST the files in the nightly (so, don't delete other files no present in nightly, but being on 2.3).

For me at least, that works

Take the firmware update file from the stable 2.3 release. At least for 600D is what you need!

The most recent nightly build appears to be Aug 8. Is something broken?

Just summer... :-)

Feature Requests / Re: Transfer setting from Av or Tv to M
« on: August 08, 2014, 06:28:33 PM »
I loved this module... but it's build in 0.5 way, and should be updated to 0.6 to work with latest nightlies.

Could you rebuild/upload it, please? I found it very comfortable in some scenarios to get what you want Av or Tv way, and then going into M to work from the same adjustments without being recalculated and spoiled each time you press shooter again...

Duplicate Questions / Re: T3i with 95MB/s card won't record RAW

What size are you recording at? As you should know, 600D has a strong limitation because slow card controller. No more than 21 MB/s, matter your card...

General Help Q&A / Re: Camera OS freezes (Canon 550D)
« on: June 14, 2014, 08:31:56 PM »
Hi I installed and used magiclanther on my 550D for about 2 months but recently my camera freezes . LCD is blank and it will not take photos. When I removed the card removed battery  put new card without ML the camera is working do u have any solution for this I tried to put fresh ML on the card but same issue repeats. Please help would love to use ML tools on ma camera
I've had something similar in my 600D some days ago, after changing into a newer nightly.

To format card (first at computed, then in camera), copy again ML files, and in my case re upgrade firmware (camera had return to non ML firmware version), which as a fact will make card boo table again (if is exFAT formated, make it boo table through eoscard, and use a smaller, non exFAT card to upgrade firmware, if necessary to), did the trick.

Something got corrupted in card.

It was a bit tricky, but finally after formatting and all process, it's working. I'll try more deeply, but by now it loads modules without problems. :-)

The strange thing was that after I wrote, was not even booting, neither with other small card (non exFAT) that I have ready with ML and firmware bin for cases like that. And when I made it boot without card (and pulling out battery) firmware had return to non-ML autonomously...

So I had to update firmware also, format card in computer (something seemed corrupted), format again in camera, make bootable, etc.

But it's working now!

Can other 600D users confirm the problem?

If not, does it help if you format the card and start fresh?
I'll try that and report.

First of all, thanks to escho for returning 600D nightlies to life again! :-)

But... I own a 600D, and I've just tried to use the new build, Jun/10. I've deleted the config folder contents, of course. It loads fine... till I activate the dual_iso module. Then it refuses to load any more, if module is activated. Camera freezes in the first seconds (before even showing the free space in card) and I have to take out battery. And next time it wakes, of course, but, so that it was not cleanly shut down, not loading modules. Next time I tried to start it (so to load dual_iso), freezes again. No problem with some other modules, I didn't tried everyone, but did with advanced intervalometer, auto ETTR, file manager... and none of them gave problems.

Si, it seems to be only the the only to freeze my camera. So, I'm returning to previous nightly I was using (Apr/9, I think), which worked fine by now.

I don't know how could I give more information, till camera freezes before being able to do nothing when the module is tried to load at start. I there's something I can do to help, please, tell me.

BTW: I've post that also on the nightlies thread. Don't know which one is the most proper for this information. Feel free to delete any of both post if one of them is not in place, being redundant.

Great! Thanks a lot, escho!

For me Darktable, after trying all possibilities in Linux, has become THE tool. Worth trying, I think. Really useful, comfortable and full of powerful tools... I clearly prefer it to RawTherapee, personally.

But ML is working fine in 600D sine long time ago... (Except for last weeks betas' non compiling, obviously...)

I'm happy you solved it!

Can't say much more than I did, I'm not dev... I use small cards with FAT and 64 GB with exFAT, changing whenever I want,  without problems...

Perhaps you can just try to format exFAT your 64 GB card in computer (not in camera). A proper formatting, not a fast one. Then make it bootable with EOScard (not EOSutility, that was my fault), copy files, and see if it boots ML.

Can't give more help, perhaps @A1ex can...

No problem with exFAT! More than that, is the only option to manage files over 4 GB if you use options for that... Just, you can't do the firmware upgrade (and so, the first ML install in your camera) from an exFAT-formatted card, must be FAT (and so, 32 GB or smaller), if not camera will not find the firmware upgrade. After that, you can use exFAT cards without problem (I always use exFAT with no problem att all).

When I told before EOSutility, I meant EOScard you'll find in, my fault....

Re-read install procedure, and go through it carefully, as you've been told.

I'll remember you all you have to do, but, even so, please, read instructions again to double check. I'm talking from memory...

1. Format your first card, low level in camera, and choose to eliminate ML (if you've not doing so yet) to return stock your camera (really, just to erase ML files from card, an erase the booting from sd flag from camera.

(1a. If you want to be even more sure, download and copy on card the original 600D 1.0.2 firmware from, and do firmware update on your camera. But not needed at all)

2. Format low level in camera your other cards intended to use with ML. (If you want any of them in exFAT, for sure for an 64 GB card, but can be alsosmaller, you'll have to do formatting in computer, usual way, choosing exFAT)

3.- Copy the files from the official stable 2.3 ML release into a FAT formatted card, specially including the EOS 600D firmware update file. If you want to use a more recent beta build (as I do), then, download it and overwrite the corresponding file/folders in you SD.

4.- Insert card, choose M mode, do restore default settings on your camera, and do firmware upgrade from Canon menu. You've yet enabled boot from sd in your camera, and this card is done bootable, so, you can use ML with it.

5.- For other cards:

5a.- If they are in FAT (and 32 GB as maximum) you can just go through 3. an 4. again. Cards will be ready when firmware upgraded (even if it was yet upgraded)

5b.- For any card (but compulsory for exFAT ones, or SDXC ones). Download EOScard (or the options for other OS... but the linux one didn't worked for me) from link in, and mark, as shown there, the card as bootable (check image there), and save changes. Copy ML files (autoexec.bin and ML folder) into the card (if using a new beta release, I'm nor sure if they are complete... I alwas copy at first files from the official 2.3, and then overwrite with the beta ones). Should be working.

All clearly stated in

It's strange, I can use all size cards, in FAT, or exFAT, with no problem.

If I don't mistake, your option 1 is not enough. The card has to be made bootable through EOS utility. Or (if not in exFAT), do again the software update (with the ML file, of course), and sdcard will be made bootable automatically.

Not if exFAT, cause software update does not work from exFAT cards.

For me worked so always...

Are you doing then bootable through EOS utility? It's clearly explained in manual that this has to be done on each card you use...
