Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 700D / T5i

A very simple routine, Audionut, and well within my capabilities. As it happens, I had another go, the same old way, and this time it stuck. The funny thing is that ML loaded up upon starting the camera without my having to do the firmware update again. Don't ask.

Oh dear. Well, I clear my settings, re-format the card and I see that ML has gone when I open it on the computer. I copy the Audio Meters files, open it again in the camera, go to Firmware and there get an error message telling me that I need a card containing the firmware to perform the update, even though the menu reads 'firmware 113' quite clearly. I turn the camera off then back on, just in case, but nothing doing. So, I format the card once more, back to PC, copy the 113 firmware update, back to camera, and there perform update from 113 to er, 113 without a hitch. Take card back to PC, copy ML files once more, back again to camera where I  perform yet another firmware update cos I think I'm getting rather good at it, but cannot find a trace of Lantern never mind Magic anywhere. I repeated the whole procedure once more to no avail. I'm dashed. Any hints?

Everything appears to work. I don't have the audio meters for the video, though; there has been some chat about those that I'll have to go back to. I believe I must install another file, am I right? Great work all the same. :)

You are right, I had to.

Do I still have to clear my personal settings before the procedure? I'm that lazy.

Feature Requests / Night Scene mirror lockup
February 15, 2014, 09:19:51 AM
I have the 700D and am particularly fond of the Handheld Night Scene mode. I know that queries have been made regarding the possibility of using mirror lockup for exposure bracketing but am not sure whether that has been ruled out or not. I find the Night Scene mode very effective and would love to be able to use mirror lockup in conjunction with it.

Also run the firmware update from the camera's menu.

Yes, same here, apart from those missing settings.

If you update your files as you go along will you let us know about it on these pages, TheUnknOwn, or will it become included into a future 'official' release and should we wait for that?

Oh dear, it must be something I said, then.

A 32GB grade 10 SunDisk Ultra? Well I hope you are wrong. And since you're here, do you have the Arrow/SET and Misc Key Settings in your Prefs menu, because I don't.

Enable the display sensor under misc key settings and use it to trigger them
Well I'm damned if I can find anything like Misc Key settings anywhere. Another problem is that ML will not let me record RAW video at all no matter what king of setting I use, manual, auto, any res, PAL or NTSC; I get some kind of coloured graph with a line telling me that 40 odd frames were taken and '1 frame skipped' in red. There was a warning once that recording had stopped and that it was a bug that I should report. Normal and HDR video have no problems.
Perhaps we should cool down the hysteria a bit and let you guys do the thing in your own good time; I'm sure it will all come out beautifully in the end.

Also I cannot find the Arrow/SET shortcuts anywhere but no doubt that will appear in a later build. That pesky blinking exposure compensation scale is just a tad annoying, though.

Another niggle, if I may: After changing the White Balance setting in the ML menu, going back to AWB is quite a rigmarole, for some reason. I can tap the screen back to AWB but the setting in the camera's own menu still reads Custom. The problem is that I cannot tell for sure which one is operative when I take the shot. Do I make sense?
My last ungrateful moan for today is about the Exposure Compensation scale that is apt to flash at bottom right for no apparent reason, but only occasionally, and I am almost ashamed of mentioning it. Really. Many thanks again.

Magic Zoom displays a heavy flicker that renders it unusable and there is no audio tab as yet but it all looks quite stable.

Great oodles of thanks! I have ML installed on a 32Gb card in my 700D and it sure looks like it's going to be fun. I too will let you know about any glitches that may arise. Smashing work.

I also tried the EOScard utility; everything seems to go well but back in the camera the firmware upgrade only produces a 'file not found' error.

General Help Q&A / 700D: Nothing doing.

I seem to have followed the instructions to the letter but ML simply doesn't appear on my new 700D. No bleep, no obstreperous message, nothing. The camera just works normally. Firmware is 1.1.1 and I run it on a 16Gb card (6). Has anybody got ML running on the 700D yet? There is a post on Facebook to the effect that it should run. Any suggestions very welcome. :'(
