General Help Q&A / Exposure Override

Hello all,
I tried to enable Exposure Override (and set Shutter Speed to 1/5000) and use Canon's Self-Timer to shoot a photo of myself levitating but it didn't work. After the camera took the photo, I checked and saw the Shutter Speed was only 1/4000 (Canon's limit) and the photo was overexposed.
Exposure Override feature works well when i don't use Self-Timer.
I use Canon 550D
Can anybody help me with this?
