is there another way to go in ML menu without activating my touch shutter?

it is so annoying i can't use my touch shutter with ML. when i try to tap with my 2 fingers %95 it thinks that i used the touch shutter.

General Help Q&A / Re: 650d vs 700d for ML and RAW Video
« on: May 17, 2014, 07:34:37 PM »
there is no difference. they are same camera.

buy the cheaper one. either of them is capable of recording 720p raw videos.

i got 650d and i can record 1600x600 raw videos without any problems.

Raw Video / Re: MLV vs RAW - What's the difference?
« on: May 07, 2014, 08:26:50 AM »
For me The main difference is;

i can record 720p clips continiously using Raw with my 650d,

but i can not do that using Mlv.

7
Thanks you !

The videos have been shot in RAW 1536*654 @24fps, which let me about 16 sec max per clips with my SanDisk Extreme 45MB/s.
I haven't changed the frame-rate at editing, so the motion speed is the real one.

Which lens do you use? And do you use Polarizer? (probably yes)

thank you guys i fiind the solution must turn off dual ISO

turning Dual iso "off" is a solution for "error ISOless PH err(2)"  indeed.

now, i have one (1) question:

how can i use dual iso while it is turned off?

Restarting the camera 10 times isn't a solution. (Despite the fact that I restarted my camera for like 20 times but the error was still there... ). And everything is the same when you boot up the camera, restart 10 times or 100 times. It must be something else that has fixed the issue for you..

nope. sometimes i got clean boot after 10restart, sometimes 20. but in the end i always find errorless start. but i dont know why it is happening. i also deleted the files inside settings folder of ML and cleared my cameras ML settings, that didnt work too.

it goes away only if i got a lucky start.

I just cleared all my camera settings and it got fixed. However I haven't identified the main cause of the problem so far.

i found a temporary solution for that problem. i just reboot my camera like 10times and 1/10 i got a clean boot with no errors while dual iso is active. but it is annoying as hell. i beg for a permanent solution. please.

Hello dual iso!

can someone please explain "dual iso"? sounds like something superior to which those dont own it.

In T4i to record video in 720p (1280x720), what do you need? What SD card should I use?

650D is the best one among those you suggested. (for now)

But there is no visible quality loss.
Also I would never upload uncompressed Video too.

well, i thought if  i upload the bigger and the better video, youtube would give me the better streaming video. that's why i upped non-compressed. i guess it is wrong.

i shot another raw video. dealing with raw files is a pain i'm sayin you. this 73second non-compressed avi file's size was 13.7gb. uploading this to youtube took more than 24hours (shitty 1mb uploadspeed)

i still use ML build of 20.07.13 and haven't upgraded the camera's firmware. and probably i won't bother to do it unless some big change come up.

what i did:

1) i used raw2dng first to get dng files.
2) used pink remover tool to clear em.
3) opened dng's with PS6 and did some adjustment
4) extracted jpg files (which is downed to 8bit)
5) renamed the jpgs' with "bulk rename utility" (google it)
6) files are joined and mp3 added to auido with virtualdub. now i got a 1600x600 non-comp avi. sized almost 5gb.
7) avi file impoted  into after effects.
8) file interpolated to 1920x1080 (1920x720 actually)
9) extracted again non-comp avi. 13.7gb - ~195mb/s bitrate

even this 70second small footage took enormous time and computing power. so i think most of the time i ll stick with 1080p h264.

this is almost the same scene with h264 canon mode:

footage itself is a bit shaky thx to 50mm non-is lens. and youtube downgraded the quality of 15gb video to a 46mb one. (that's right)  enjoi.

I still have older version of 650d firmware and I haven't installed ML yet. So is there any chance to rip the firmware and upload it to the forum? If the answer is yes, I'm ready to help you guys.

it's up already. >>>page number: 1
edit: my bad, i thought you re asking for ML to download.

It says to simply format the card on that link.  I did, and now the camera says update file cannot be found.

Run EOScard.exe. Uncheck ML, CHDKraw, eos_develop, bootdisk then click save. Search the forums to find the exe.

Guys, can we use 650d's hdmi port to record better videos directly into the computer? Anyone working on this? Tried it?

I just read this: http://www.hireacamera.com/blog/index.asp?post=canon-eos-650d--hdmi-explained

And i think ML devs can do something about it. (i don't know if it is possible to record raw via hdmi already)

Mostly I think it's that the Mark III is full frame and so it has more pixels to start with. In general more pixels equals better quality (example 300dpi vs 72dpi). We're already at a 1.6 crop factor and then we're cropping that to get our raw videos. But hang in there, even with that, I can clearly see that a 1280 x 720 crop is still sharper than my h264 1280 x 720 and you get a better dynamic range with raw.  Some of it is filming technique as well. Lighting, not panning too fast, not using handheld, all that is important. Right ISO, right shutter speed and aperture, that is all important in a scene looking good. I bought a motorized panning head for around $130 because I just couldn't get a slow consistent pan and my youtube videos were always jerky. The motorized head was the answer for that.

actually i don't say 650d raw vids are all crap, i only compare it to m3. people that own m3 have also other professional equipment, maybe that is why they look superb. so i think you are probably right, it is mostly about handholding, fast hand moves and not messing with camera settings enough.

Alright folks, I have a new video out showcasing RAW on the 650D.

I used the latest build along with Foorgol's Pink Dot Remover (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6658)

Enjoy!

nice film feel but... i have a felling that raw videos from 650d lacks "quality" i don't know any other words to describe this. i mean, it doesn't look like a raw video from mark iii. of course mak iii is a lot better camera but, i have a 1366x768 resolution laptop, so i can't see too much difference between 1080p and 720p and raw videos from mark iii is looks just  superior on my laptop's screen. i wonder why?

is it because lame postprocessing skills we (i) got?

is there any faster sd card controller? let's  mass order them from china and change  our 550d/600d/650d/700d/60d sd card's controller with the chinese one. so everyone can shoot 1080p raw video:)
