I was sadden after trying a 70D in a store the other day,
-the autofocus (lazy me) was great, i own a 5d3 and its cool to see any camera from Canon with autofocus since i am used to Manual hit and miss at times, but what took me by surprise with the 70d was the limitations.

1-first off one needs the remote app for wifi viewing which was no problem but then i got an error saying no SD card NO try,

2-then as i was reaching for a SD card at home i decided to google up which one and learned users  where frustrated with the lack of recording time, Canon is tricky when they claim a camera can record UP TO 30 mins.; UP to is not 30 but UP to, depending on the heat some said.

3-While googling i learned many other features are limited and as we learned from ML sites its all probably SOFTWARE MARKETING LTD by CANON the one and only, i can make a lng list here like one is not able to adjust Shutter , sound etc once record enable to even recording video with wifi viewing on.

Are people wure its possible to open up those features here, i read that the camera gets pretty hot and some even suggested the BMCC (smaller cameras)

Have had luck getting ml-5D3-113.fir to work but have no M Tab or raw functionality that I've found. 
Have tried what I THINK is the most recent nightly build "magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2013Jul15 but I'm not certain it even applies to the MKIII is it's not in the ensuing .60D.550D etc.  (it does edit the name of the firmware, but the menus are not available.)
Any idea where to find a build that will provide raw recording on a 5D MKIII?

i can confirm (there is no raw video ability)  since a recent July 19th build, nice menu though

i saved older builds, i love the 10x zoom

iam very interested in the 300x Raw Crop Mode / zoom ability demonstrated in this video, problem is the newer builds changed the method the user described.

can anyone verify if it is still possible with the new June build?

can i transfer raw video files from a cf to a sd card withing a 5d3?  i dont have a CF reader, i use mac, my usb cables to the EOS utility does not see the RAW videos files

please advise

Hey there, this stuff looks very promising! Is there any example video of the 5Dmk3 shooting 60 fps RAW? I've searched everywhere but found nothing.

i am not sure why all the nightly builds, instructions and other RAW folder packages posted here on the ML forums do not work, only Alpha 3 for the 5d3 worked.

I came to this conclusion because several people posted their ready ML folders for recording RAW, and every one of them has worked, i just cant get the CF card to record, it only records raw for a few seconds on the SD card and i dont have a cf card reader to copy the ML folder.

thats a drag, i wanted to do a review of it for several schools and a TV station in france

. Better to use a CF card, SD cards are too slow.

I'm on a mac too, it does work now.

not sure if its a SD card or CF card, i only used the SD card because i dont want or have a CF reader, i normally use a USB cable for the CF transfers, are you saying i have to use a CF card?

how about try reading his post? all the information needed is there.

i did ,  its some of  he links to pages  that leave me confused,

for example he says

5. From the Magic Lantern package copy the 5D3-113-bootflag.fir file to the root folder
___of the SD card.
6. Place the SD card in your camera, switch it on and go to the firmware update in the
___camera menu. Do the update which will "turn" your camera's bootflag. Whatever that
___means.
7. The camera now loads weird overlays, wait until it's finished. Switch the camera off.

whatever that means?
ok now it asks me to remove the battery  because no update can be found, maybe i should copy all the ML files with the bootflag no?

so that worked, i used the alpha 3, and from the 1905 ML package the bootflag, then removed it, then tried to macboot.app and prepared the card like it said, put the card back into the camera and  still no M menu on the far right to load movie modules when i use ML on he camera


im on a mac 10.7.5

this whole process is a mess on my set up, seems like PC users are the only successful ones

what you mean by simple raw?,

i understood that raw only records at 10 secs for the moment on a 5d3, and anything beyond that was beta, i want any raw to test it lol, im a mac user so programing is beyond me,

Sorry i aint getting it, i set my ML up backdating to v1.1.3 which stinks since i have a lilluput LCD and dont have the cool dual screen function and i put the ML files on the cam, worked, but no RAW VIDEO

i know i am going to sound like a vampire but can anyone please please just share a compiled file to get raw going for the 5d3 with out a  dozen links, just one ready to go, would be so cool i am ready to donate again

ok so i fallowed step by step guides from several sites and i can confirm only the ML alpha3 works, everything else forces me to reboot by removing the battery, and i used macboot, the command with raw files inside the same folder etc.

any help appreciated
