Hardware and Accessories / Re: Dual Mnitor

So maybe what you meant is: External monitor would work IF you are using Canon's HDMI out to record to say a Ninja or similar, but will NOT work with ML raw at all? (Just trying to clarify, thank you for answering!)

Hardware and Accessories / Dual Monitor

Hi all. There are a ton of threads spread out all over the place on this issue, so I don't know where to post this question.

Question:

I am running ML v2.3 Oct 26th build, which seems very, very good! I want to buy an external monitor for 5d mark iii to be able to see the video on that via HDMI whilst recording raw. Does anyone know if this will work, and what the best proven monitor that isn't too expensive is? Thank you sooo much.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: raw2dng ProRes 4444?

When you open the program, drag the programs icon into the program. Options will come up

Sorry for my misunderstanding, but I don't get this answer. After running raw2dng, I then drag the icon back on top of it as you say, and it just says it can't open it. Very cool that it makes prores 4444 right out of box, but at times, as others have said, just want the raw images. What might I be doing wrong?

Oedipax,

thank you! Should I export at 23.976 or 24P exactly with the ML raw video?

Hey man, thanks a ton! That was exactly the problem, did what you said, and no stutter! Even though my composition setting would match the video footage still lots of stuttering. I did what you said, and presto! Perhaps I will just make it a point to do this for all DNGs I import for now on?

And maybe just one more thing... is it worth it to use interpolation on a 24P video and jack it up to 30FPS? I've read this might help on the internet too, trying to figure that out now in after effects. Again, any help appreciated!

Hi guys, I have a quick couple of questions.

I am recording at full 1080P with May 22nd build. I convert the raw file to DNGs, then load up in after effects. What I am witnessing is very "unsmooth" video when there is motion. Now, I know we don't want fast motion in 24P anyways, but it just seems I'm getting way too
much stuttering.

I've read the optimal shutter speed is twice the frame rate. I've been shooting video in Manual with 1/50 second shutter speed. I suppose ideally the shutter speed should be 1/48, but I do not know how to set shutter at that odd number.

I render the DNGs using after effects, and have tried the composition to be 24fp and 23.976fps, doesn't seem to make a difference. I have this ugly feeling I might be doing something wrong in after effects, but not sure. After I set the composition to be one of those two frame rates, I then just choose Composition menu, and then select Add to Render Queue. Finally, I then render i as mentioned to PRO RES 4444.

Can anyone give me a possible insight as to why I can't seem to get very smooth video? Thanks a bunch!

Silhouette motion during sunset. You don't want to miss this one! What I find so amazing is the fact that I did NOT apply any post-processing sharpness to this video. The only thing I did was correct white balance, this is straight out of the camera! For me, the ability to be able to do this in the first place is such a game changer. You can download the 1080P if you like. When encoding to pro res 4444, the quality is through the roof! Thank you sooooooooo much magic lantern!
