Crash has become much less. Doesn't crashed when changing global draw. It "sometimes" crash when changing FPS. I was able to record 24 frames 3264x1366 continuously. (8 minutes). There is overlay pattern when recording but it does not prevent shooting. Also image becomes greenish.

Also it would be nice if the size that is seen on the screen and the size taken is the same.

Got word from has_abandonment_issues about 3.3k preset working with this version. Missed uploading yesterday:

Thanks. It worked. 5x-3.3K preset continuous recording ~2.8K with global draw off.  When recording, preview is realtime but broken colors. Also when change fps, camera freezes. When change global draw, camera freezes. Not much can be done due to the camera freezing.

Have you tried global draw off?

@Danne
I have the same problem as has_abandonment_issu in 3.3K.

But 3.5 works very well.
nice work!

Hi Danne,

Just tried 1.13 build for 3.3K realtime preview test. It works just like before for me. Laggy preview. Am I missing something?

Edit: also tried canon menu button magic, nothing changed.

5d Mark III works. But sometimes adds border. On canon site, they say;

"When using EOS Webcam Utility Beta software with your camera powered off, turned on from the off position during video conferencing or set to Still Photo Shooting mode, a black border may appear around the video source image.  We suggest EOS Webcam Utility Beta software be used with your camera powered on and set to Movie Shooting mode, if available."

I didn't understand. Anyone experiencing this problem? How to fix it exactly?

Edit: Border issue depending on whether the program you will use the camera is opened or not. For example, you want to use Zoom; keep the camera off, turn on the zoom, go to the webcam settings, if you select canon webcam utility and then turn on the camera, there is no border. It may be wrong, it just worked that way in my experience.

Rule Nr. 1 when creating logo: It has to be round.

Look at the logos on your desktop, look at the successful/most recognizable Programs/apps. See any similarities?

I think, there is nothing to say "should be" on logos.  It should be just catchy and maybe explain what it does.

Really? Here 50% is a rectangle on my desktop (e.g all Adobe products, Qt, MS Office, Keil, Finder, TeamViewer,..).

The last shown proposal was the best I've seen since the discussion started. But I also like the slider splitting the colors. Text would be nice for the about box, for the app icon we don't need it. For files the ".MLV" and the sheet around would be okay IMO.

App icon on Windows taskbar (Just RGB Shown and little slider, maybe borders can be removed)
taskbar" border="0

File extension icon small
small-list" border="0

File extension icon medium
big-list" border="0

Maybe something like this(shameless mockup, not centered etc)?

It can be logo but for icon I think  only extension ".MLV" can be text. Also my idea was "RGB with Sliders". Thats what MLV Apps mostly doing.

only-text-with-rgb" border="0

@ozcancelik

I like white ones.
Actually all same. Just background changes for OS dark/light theme simulate. Icon should look similar both dark and light modes so mostly I used gray color. So which white one? :)

9
Hi Ilia,

I made icon/logo that you wont like i guess :)  Because it's not 3d, it's modern like. But thats how it looks. Mac OS users can use dark mode, so i made grayish color for light/dark modes. Also I use my Windows dark mode.

icon" border="0
logo" border="0

light-mode" border="0
dark-mode" border="0

My thoughts:

- You have a good point about the 'magic' thing

- I want the colour scheme to be based on mostly Red, Green and Blue (because bayer filter has those colours)

- I don't want it to look like an iPhone app (MLV App's name containing 'App' is not enough to justify that)

- I like reflections and 3D-ness, I also the icons in macOS

I would like a new icon.

My original logo is not amazing. It does not relate to MLV or video or image processing in any way, but I think it looks quite nice. And because it is made in Blender you can do stuff like this:

Thanks a lot, Ozcancelik!

I disabled the atdg_ui module and Preview is working with both SD-cards now.  Maybe Danne can fix that.

I have a short remark to your video.  It seems extremely overprocessed.  Open your clips in MLVApp and apply just some very basic adjustments to them - exposure, contrast, curves, sharpness and maybe add some saturation.  Watch the histogram and make sure you are not overexposing the highlights.  Then export to ProRes422LT for final cutting.  You should be able to get very high-quality footage with excellent fine detail, dynamic range and colors.  Just give it a try.

Thanks for suggestions.

It was my first try on MLVApp. Best app for MLV process ever. I think I enjoyed tampering with all the settings. :) Need to learn from mistakes.

I had the opportunity to test the latest 5D3 experimental build called:

crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_isogain_1x3_presets_2019Oct15.5D3113

The 5k anamorphic mode provides amazing fine detail at full horizontal sensor resolution but:

1)  I couldn't get the preview working, no matter what preview mode I used - I tried them all, also after formatting both cards.  Preview is skewed and freezes when recording is started which makes framing impossible.

EDIT:
====

It looks like the Preview issue seems to be SD-card related.  I replaced the SD-card with another one and Preview is working now.  Very strange.  The first one is fast and works otherwise flawlessly.

2) There is very strong aliasing in the footage.  Here is a short MLV illustrating this:

https://we.tl/t-bBQlQcioqY

I also tried the 4k mode, (at 1360x2296 resolution) by filming exactly the same scene.  Aliasing is nonexistant to negligible.

Danne, could you please take a look?
Thanks.

For your first question; can you try disable atdg_ui on modules if it's enabled.  I had similar preview problem(sometimes preview works sometimes does not work), solved with disabling atdg_ui module.

You need to push exposure to reduce noise. Widely known fact.
You mean in camera right? I forgot to add ettr module. Next time i will try with that.  Is there any known conflict ettr module with your builds?

5k, not bad. A little too smooth to my liking. Did you use any denoising in post or are the files that smooth?

I just used MLVApp for denoising. Maybe my mistake but some footages was too noisy when added LUT. Chroma noise was crazy. So i just removed chrome noise. (Maybe 12 or 14 bit could be better). Also added post grain after denoising(in mlvapp). My personal hate is chroma noise.

Also the night metro part was 12800 iso. I just wanted to test xtreme iso :) This part is very very smooth, not usable.

Just want to say, even iso 100 was noisy to me. Maybe i didnt use usable iso like 160-640 etc. I will look your posts again.

Thanks[emoji1365]

Tried here on Windows: just imported a MLV, exported to ProRes4444. i7, 4 cores, 8 threads, 3.64GHz, full 100% CPU usage. No idea what your computer does...
Is your files lossless or uncompressed? Lossless decoding is also single-threaded. But this small part should not drop overall usage to 30%. To what codec and option do you export?

Edit: thanks for update. Set smooth aliasing to Off and try again.

Worked! THANKS. Now it takes 2 minutes to full export. I never touched that pass on other computers.

Without knowing any real facts about your two computers, I suppose some settings to be different, e.g. in receipt. If the CPU is not used at (close to) 100%, you rendered dualISO, or used Highlights/Shadows/Clarity/RBF Denoiser. These algorithms are single threaded. So if the MacBook has 100%, it could have only one or two cores, or the settings used there don't use the points mentioned. The GPU don't cares, because it is not used.

Thank you for information.

Just recorded a new video. Tried export without no configuration. All same didnt touch just export. No Dual ISO. Still use 30% CPU. Maybe it's not about MLVApp but just MLVApp uses 30% CPU. Media Encoder or others have no problem. My CPU is Intel Core i7-8750H 6 cores, 12 threads 2.2 GHz. Maybe you can give me and idea how can I test. Or where is the problem. My fastest notebook works like calculator on MLVApp. Very dramatic for me  :)

First of all, thank you for your effort.

I have a issue. I have two separate laptops. One is Macbook Pro and one is Hp gaming notebook. On both computers, when you export the same file in the Windows environment with the same settings, the slower macbook pro(bootcamp windows) export faster. On macbook pro  it takes 5 minutes, HP Notebook takes 11 minutes. Also Hp Notebook has faster CPU and also has GPU.

When I check task manager, the only difference between them is CPU usage. The Macbook Pro uses 100% CPU when exporting and Hp uses 40-50% CPU. Why is this problem caused?

Thank you.

Hard to say what is going on but keep testing different settings. Maybe you find the answer eventually. I'm on 1.1.3 by the way.

I guess i found the problem. It’s about adtg_ui module. I disabled the module and everything works expected.

Does this module use any code with your crop_rec? I tested and looks fine. Just want to know.

Thanks again Danne!

All is working over here. Just tested. Did you set Preview to framing? You find this under RAW video menu settings.

Yes its Framing.

Screen recordings preferred that shows your issues. Too much guesswork.
There is a video that i record. I hope it helps.

I don´t know if you have x10 focus aid enabled. Try disabling that if it´s the case.
Tried both on and off. Nothing changed. But for now i use zoom button 2 times then focusing. Not best solution and very slow, but works.[emoji3]

May I ask, do you use 123 or 113?

Part of the workaround technique. Framing is done from real buffer very slow and focusing can be done while holding halfshutter while recording. Then back into framing again. In and out. I can work with that and capture pretty much anything I want.

I tried  2019Oct15.5D3113 and 2019Oct15.5D3113. This feature is very very useful but sometimes(mostly) does not work for me. When it works and after pressing half shutter, it backs streched view again.

When I run your Lua script, everythings are fine and recording is ok. Low fps and laggy preview but at least not streched, framing is good. (I can get 5424x2270 24fps 10bit/12bit continuous)

When pressing half shutter for focusing:

And it stucks there. I can't see correct framed version again. Sometimes works 1-2 times, then streched view again. Also freezing camera when change aspect ratio on crop_rec menu.

Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Raw Video / Re: 24fps vs 48fps sharpness

Davinci, AE or PP... I think software can't do anything scaling and streching. You have 508 line horizontally and streching to 816 line. If you add more sharpening, i agree DaVinci is the best. But without extra sharpening all the same. Am I wrong?

Photoshop has some options like preserve details, bicubic smoother, bicubic sharper, bilinear etc. But Ae or Davinci does not have this options. AE has "Detail-preserving Upscale" and "Sharpen" options. If i want to more details i use that presets.
