the 5DII has become legendary for video, but what people seem to forget is that it was created to be an awesome still camera first. so to answer your question the 5DII is more than optimal for shooting pictures.

I would say more collabertation on the 40D front (things learned from that could help future advancements, and increase camera support for cameras released with the same tech as the 40D).
also getting a stable 7D release is probably a good thing.
on a related note, what other bodys share the same internal design as the 7D?
