But also doesn't it store luminance values also? I mean, some way of recording only the luminance values! Or is there a way to do it in the post processing?

The title says it all, for true black & white pictures, like each luminance value for each pixel!

So we could avoid algorithms to transform a colored picture to a B&W one, I guess it would add quality/sharpness to pictures!

A RAW file only with luminance values!
