I think it's not a matter of lens copy.

@5D3shooter, you'll fall in love soon :)

I CANT WAIT!!  B&H is shipping it out today, so hopefully I'll have it by the weekend.  I also got a HOYA HD protection filter and a BlackRapid Sport 2 strap.  Going to be a great unboxing!

Last saturday I was at a photography/telescope expo and Canon was there.  I asked the rep what he thought of the EOS-M and his response was, "I'd rather not comment on that camera."  They had most of their lineup on display, but no EOS-M.  Seems like it was a dud  :(  He was really pushing and recommending the G16, I could've got it for a great price at the expo but I passed.  I just ordered the 70-200 2.8 II which I've wanted for a long time, so the pocket cam purchase will have to wait for now.

BTW I also got to try out the Fuji X100S...THAT THING IS SWEEEET!!!!

To me number 2 looked the best.

Get a markIII bro.. Don't switch over to sony with all their proprietary junk.

Great explanation.  So I guess anyone in the market for the 60D should just get the 60DA and get the added benefits of the filter (and cooler looking box).

Thanks!

It was just a matter of time til Komputer Bay got on this forum.  Good idea too because I'm sure you get a lot of customers from this forum.  Glad to see you guys taking care of us too.. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a cam that I can always have on me when I'm not lugging the 5D around.  I was looking at the EOS M, but I don't like the fact that there's no viewfinder and the RAW video doesn't look very good at all either, so that didn't make me want it either.  I know we all love canon here, and it is CHEAP so that's a plus.  If anyone uses one and loves can you please share your thoughts.

What do you guys think about the Olympus OM-D E-M5?  From what I've been researching it looks pretty promising.  Then there's the FUJI X series cameras. But then I'd need to get Fuji lenses etc.

What do you guys recommend?  I want something pretty compact but feels like a real camera.  No sony type of menu where you have to spend a minute to change settings.

I really value the opinion of this board.

Thanks guys!

UPDATE: I tried the Canon G16 today and it seemed really nice, but I didn't give in to temptation and decided to sleep on this decision.  Anyone have a G16?

Marsu42, I think that's different though because then the camera is seeing infrared only.  I don't think the 60DA is just a infrared cam only.  Does anyone know if the 60DA can still be used as a normal cam too, or does the image quality suck for anything other than astronomy photos?

Ok so I looked around and found that it can take normal images just fine.  It only makes a difference when you're shooting something that is emitting infrared light.  Here's an example shot I found vs a 5dmIII

It seems a bit more saturated, I'm sure you could pull more color out of the 5dmIII shot in post..very small difference at least in this shot

This subject is basically my question.  I've noticed that a lot of people have been getting great astro pictures with the other cameras, so why the 60DA?  Is there really something different about the sensor?  Could Magic Lantern make an "astronomy" mode that would emulate whatever their doing with the 60DA to our other cameras?

All I see is this "features a specially tailored infrared blocking filter" Couldn't we essentially screw this filter onto our lenses??

Not sure that helps any.

We've all seen this.. old news.

I don't know if it will ever come true =(

You probably could fix a lot of these shaky shots with warp stabilizer in After Effects, but yeah better practice would be to follow the advice above.

Have you noticed that after you install DaVinci Resolve that the Avid Core Audio Manager stops working?  I've restored OSX multiple times and tested my findings and found that the Core Audio Manager starts to crash immediately after installing DaVinci Resolve.

I found a thread on BMD Forums where a guy was having the same problem and discovered it was linked to "Postgresql."  This post was from 2012 and received no response from BMD.  I'm having this problem now too and it happens with the latest Resolve version 10 also.  This is really unfortunate because I want to use Resolve to work with my 5d3 RAW footage, but I don't want to give up my Avid Core Audio Manager.  For those who may not know, Avid Core Audio Manager is the application that allows you to use your audio interface for system and application audio when you're not running pro tools. For instance if I want to run Logic Pro and use my Avid interfaces for my I/O I will have to use the Avid Core Audio Manager to achieve that, but after installing Resolve 9 or 10...CRASH CRASH CRASH, nothing works.  Need to restore OSX to get back functionality.

Here's the link to the post where the guy had figured out what was causing the problem:
http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11533

If anyone has any idea of what we can do to fix this, let me know.  The poster of the thread I posted suggested that perhaps the "Postgresql" database could be updated, but I have no idea if this is possible.

The only solution I have come up with is to boot from a seperate HDD just for DaVinci Resolve, but this is really impractical and they should just fix their app IMO.  Unfortunately BMD isnt respond or acknowledging this issue.

Thanks

That's pretty awesome, dude.  You should send emails to all the real estate offices near you.  I'm sure you'll get some work!

You can't record RAW through the HDMI, otherwise we'd all buy atomos ninja and be done with it.  Remember we were all trying to figure out how to connect an SSD to the CF slot?

If your intentions are just to monitor wirelessly while you record your RAW video on CF inside the camera, then it should work.

Raw Video / Re: Problem with larger than 4gb Raw files

This thread helped me fix spanned files the other day when I forgot to format the card to Exfat.  (for mac)

Does the formatting to Exfat trick work on the 5dII?

The price already went up $20 on amazon.  Went up $50 on ebay.

I knew I should've bought one last week.

real nice

I will buy one of these for sure.  Don't get fooled by the expensive cards.  Those manufacturers should be sued for their bogus speed claims just to take our money.

My Hackintosh is kicking ass with raw processing.

Specs :
Sandy Bridge-E  6-core 3930K
Sabertooth X79
32GB 1600mhz RAM
GTX 580 3GB
OSX 10.8.4

I put all my footage on a 4TB external G-RAID hooked up through e-sata.  It's really fast.

Supposedly the Komputer Bay CF cards don't work in the D800 and that's why they had to sell them so cheap to begin with.

But they got lucky that all the Canon guys started using them, so I guess they had to raise to price a lil.
#74
I dont remember the 64GB model ever being $100

Sorry if this was answered before, but my .WAV files are like an hour long on the timeline when I import them (even though they're like a minute long).  Is that just how it is?  Also, do you guys have to align your .WAV files, or do they automatically sync up?  I'm asking because mine seem like they're on the wrong FPS or something (drifting pretty bad) but the framrate is correct.
