Can someone give me a brief overview of the dual ISO workflow for video on the 600D.  I've read the entire thread on Dual ISO, and have the cr2dng.exe, but need some more specifics on enabling and settings in camera.

I've enabled the dual ISO module, but not sure exactly where to go from there.

Can Canon or any other manufacturer incorporate this code in their cameras without any agreements or loyalties to ML?

I don't believe they can due to copyright laws.  Even open source is copyrighted.

Canon is not stupid!  They are getting a free R&D department which is generating the greatest advancements for photo and video period!

I believe it does.  I've been messing around with higher bitrates and different GOP settings.  I especially notice the difference in post when recording at a bitrate of say 85 mbps and GOP 3, then upres into either prores or cineform.  It seems I get a lot more latitude in post color correcting.

Still not sure if the small gains in color or sharpness are worth the extra time and file sizes generated ... but its fun to play with.  Kinda like working with raw, not really usable for commercial work from the 600d, but its a blast for personal stuff.

Y3llow, I've read your post on the subject in the ML vimeo group (I believe those were your comments), and found them very interesting, which is what got me into testing the higher bitrates and uprezzing.

It seems like they don't even know it exists. Curious to know...

They know it exist ... I've talked with the service techs at the VA service center several times and they are well aware of ML.  One guy I talked with even hinted that a few of them use it.

And yes, it does not void your warranty.

edit:  ML is the best thing that could have happened to Canon ... sales increased 10 fold on their DSLR line.

Please dont drop it... Im not too fussed on the RAW on the 600D but really like other functions such as Dual Iso etc.

Yeah, don't drop the 600d.   Your doing a great job ...

Did you press the trashcan button to go into ML?  Or the info button to bring up the ML overlays?

Using a toothpick try to depress the switches in and out.  If no help, send in to canon for repair.

Check the micro switches on the card and battery door.  Battery connections inside battery compartment.

if 4.2.0 to 4.4.4 were possible, arri workers had to shut down the facility. from what I know and experienced, its impossible to recover information lost with compression, you can always interpolate it but no luck, here is the thread for upsampling http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8116.0

Whats your view on upsampling the h.264 from the camera with a intermediate codec like gopro's cineform, prior to editing?

Been reading tons of articles both for and against using an intermediate codec to bring 4.2.0 footage into a 4.2.2 or 4.4.4 color space for better post processing results.

Any proven workflows?  Your tests?

hello again, can anyone explain me how to install the GOP and Slice control on my 600D? I currently have the ML 2.3 running on the camera and the bitrate running at 3* but I would like to know how to go beyond that (my card is a lexar pro 95mo/s). Thanks

download and replace your current autoexec.bin from link in post.

Use the .fir from ML 2.3 for your camera.

By the way, which raw_rec version is the best? The 'SixThirty' version or the version from the current nightly build?
Or is there a version I'm not aware of because 1% had to upload it somewhere else again?

I'm still getting the best results with the SixThirty build as far as clean video.  I tried the latest nightly again today and back to getting pink frames again.

I'm beginning to think I'm doing something wrong with the nightlies.  One day I get good results, the next not so good.

Played around with ML Raw using v2.3.NEXT.2013Sep04.600D102 Nightly with some encouraging results and no magenta frames.

Settings:
Global Draw On
Everything else off.

Canon Resolution: 1024 @ 24fps
ML Resolution: tested 1280 - 1152 & 960
SD Card: SanDisk Ultra 30 Mbps - 16gig (slowest card I have but produced the best results- go figure)

Results: (Resolution & Record times) 1280= 3 seconds  / 1152= 5 seconds / 960= continuous
Video frame size is 1920 x 1080 for comparison.  Clips are native.

dslrrookie, tell me please with what settings you shot (resolution, fps, lens)? what a post-processing?

Canon resolution:  1080 @24fps
ML Raw resolution: 960x540
Lens: 50mm 1.8
Post:  960x540 scaled to 1920x1080 in AE with Magic Bullet Instant HD & Mojo for color.

I have been trying to get Raw to work on my T3i with zero luck. What exactly do you have installed for your ML software? I have a current nightly build but Raw keeps shutting me down. Just trying to figure this out.

If your running the latest nightly you need to keep your raw resolution at 960x540 or lower for continuous recording. 
Also, in Canon's menu make sure your settings are either 1080 @ 24fps or 640 @ 30fps.  I use 1080@24fps, as I haven't had any luck with the 640 setting.

Keep in mind if you use the nightly that you will get some pink frames.  You can either deal with them or use Tragic Lantern 2.0.

I'm extremely happy with ML.  I still use the nightly's for commercial use, and tragic lantern for personal stuff.

Other than the SRAW feature, what is the difference between the code for raw in ML and TL?

@ dslrrookie: You probably get pink frames because your buffer is too small. Use 'SRAW' to increase the shoot_malloc buffer and reduce the amount of pink frames or reduce the framerate if you need the higher resolutions. That should help.

Using TL (without sraw) I don't get any pink frames at 960x544.

Using ML (nightly) I get pink frames regardless of settings.

The camera won't. Set up the raw module, read some threads.  You probably need sraw to get continuous and have a large enough buffer to be usable.

I'm getting continuous recording with TL @ 960x544 without using sraw.

Canon 1080 @24fps
default settings on everything else.

When I use ML with above settings I get a lot of pink frames.  Not sure why?
