Guys, nanomad is right. Again, the signal at the other end of the LAN cable won't be a network signal, the network card won't know what to do with it. Worst case, it might even harm it. The cable is not supposed to be put into a network card.

It's just an extender that lets you use different cables. It does not decode the video signal in any way.

Also, you will be doing 6750 pictures. The camera will be on for many many hours. It will have an impact on your camera. Or do you want to use silent pics?

g3gg0, I had only bad experiences using mono for gui stuff on linux. Did you ever use it successfully? I suggest Qt, too. I can do the mac part.

Where do you format your card? In camera or on your computer?

I'm just using my analog Canon A/V cable and a cinch to trs adapter cable.
So its canon 4-contact cable -> 2x chinch female 2-contact -> 1x stereo trs female.
Works like a charm.

Just today I did some tests with a DR-40, a H4N and a 302 Sound Devices field mixer. Condenser shotguns were ok, the results are indeed usable.

Results with dynamic mics were not so good, the internal preamps do create some noise. When normalized in a DAW the DR-40 had more high frequency noise, the H4N actually introduced some rather ugly digital noise pattern. So I cannot really recommend either of them with dynamic mics. Obviously when using the preamps of the 302 and just sending the line signal to the recorders everything was ok.

There even is a test binary for 60D, but nothing stable I would recommend for a job yet...

Both stop recording, filesize 4 GB limit or 29 minutes limit. If you use two cameras, why not just use auto movie restart? Or does it not work on 60D?

On the software side, you might want to disable the autoboot flag, reset your camera to defaults and re-install current canon firmware.

It does sound like a hardware defect and not software related. Have you tried different USB cables? Have you examined the port for possible defects, broken/bent pins, etc?
