To DeafEyeJedi,
Thanks for watching and liking the video. Sorry I did not answer sooner, did not see the post.
If I can remember in camera ML settings are: aspect 2.35, recorded at highest res possible in normal mode (no sensor crop) 30 fps, some close up shots are in sensor crop mode 1920×880 or something like that, lens used canon 50mm f1.8 no image stabilization, used lens aperture mostly to control exposure and keep down noise except for the last shot. On PC: Convert to dng by way of mlv converter, into resolve for minor white clip black clip adjustments, color is mostly out of camera which I find its beautiful even though I leave auto white balance on in camera and sometimes the shots are a bit off (no WB adjustment), export uncompressed to premiere, unsharp mask technique, lumetri color adjustment (saturation vibrance faded film), and export as 4k h.264 (dont ask me why but I find youtube gives me better results when I watch on my mobile at 1080p). No Im not a professional in any way, no I mostly dont know what Im doing most of the time but I love shooting videos around the island and ML has provided me the awesome tools to better my productions. Hope this helps, and Im also open to suggestions. Thanks.
Last shot was shot at ISO 320, and no denoiser plugin was used.

At http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/userguide#disable-agc it states:

"Manual audio controls.

This menu is not available on Canon 600D / T3i.

The 600D/T3i already has manual audio control, but right now it's not possible to change audio settings from Magic Lantern. You can only use audio meters during recording."

I definitely have the audio menu functionality on ML on a 60D, a much newer camera than the T3i. Don't you have it on your 60D as well?

Oh, I see - it says that in the "Known issues" section. Well, that's contradicted further down, but more importantly, it does work on later cameras.

I remain hopeful that this set of audio features will be added for the 70D... Thanks to all who've contributed to the 70D port!

arrg 2.3 vs. nightly...   is there even a 2.3 anymore?  anyway the 60d/7d seem to have been the end of the audio features, not even the mighty 5d3 has them.  i really like that they are usable in my 60d and use it's headphone monitoring with an external rode mic all the time when shooting video.

Dude enough with this 2.3 nonsense... Go nightlies or go home!

At least stay on topic, please?

Sorry to those who think talk of 2.3 is a distraction - it's just my previous point of reference for what ML can do (on a 60D). Which includes a great set of audio features!

Where can I go to find more on the features that are / are not part of the nightly builds? Here, I'm working through testing the 70D.111A features, and quickly discovered that sound isn't included. Are you saying that the Audio menu is, or isn't, on the list for development?

Yes, I'm a newbie to the nightlies. We all gotta' start somewhere.

And there is a new sound system in development but dormant right now.

Btw all, I just rolled back to the last Alpha release to have some fun with the undercranking feature and honestly the banding really disappears when using a contrasty grade in camera.  It was almost unnoticeable at 2.5fps, 1/5th sec, ISO800, however as soon as I switched to Cinestyle the banding became super visible.  It definitely seems to come through with flat profiles, but is very usable with the proper colour settings up to some very decent ISOs.

Just wanted to provide my two cents from further testing if it helps at all, I know though that it is an old release.

No worries, just wanted to give you a heads up and cool to know actually, since I sold off my 100D to my mother to eventually upgrade to my 70D.

BTW, like we've talked about before Nikfreak, if there is anything we can do to help with the new audio module, please let me know as I'd love to help make this amazing improvement happen! :)

Hey guys. I'm about to enter the magical world of magic lantern, and I just wanted to know if I'm doing it correctly, so I don't get any brick problems later.

Something that is a little bit messy for me is the serial issue - whenever I should download firmware A or B. I went seeking throughout the post pages, but I couldn't find any clarification over it. My camera's serial is 062022[...]. In some posts, people with a simmilar SN have not been able to finish the installation, even though I saw a guy from a video saying that it's compatible.

Could anyone give me some light please? Thanks a lot!
I hope I can share my knowledge later! :)

DeafEyeJedi

Simply install A version, if it works then great!

If not, then install B version and that's it!

Please, can someone tell me, how to import to AE or Premiere or even open in PS exported DNG's from MLV files? Because somehow they are corrupted. Exported DNG's from RAW file are ok, but not from MLV. Also MLV sound is not sync, it's cut in the middle. So... NOT OK a guess or just me? I used MlRawViewer 1.3.3 an 1.4.3. for exporting DNG's.

Hi!

First, thanks for the good work on the Beta release. I used ML regularly on my old T2i but I sadly sat out with an SL1/100d. Glad to see 70d support.

But I had trouble 2 weeks ago on vacation. I installed version A on my 70d back in September; took perhaps ~1000 pictures but didn't really use the ML features much; turned on focus peaking and a few other things; took a few hundred more pictures over next week or so. I don't clearly recall the settings because of what happened next.

While shooting, first the AF stopped working; then the camera started beeping slowly but continuously. During this time I could still take stills and video. Then the shutter release went non-functional along with several other controls one by one. During this, I swapped lens, swapped batteries, power cycled, removed the battery and let the camera sit, tried other memory cards.

Finally, I reformatted my memory card in a PC and rebooted the camera. All was well and I have since taken several hundred more pictures and video over the last 2 weeks.

Two questions:
1. Huh? Has anyone seen something similar?
2. Is the August 22 the most recent ML? I am getting back in the ML saddle soon; I have been sitting it out hoping for an update.

Thanks,
Tim

@Thobias -- Have you tried MLVFS with SmartImport2 in AE? Works well on OS X.

@tlyonstlyons -- Perhaps you could have tried resetting ML back to default if you wanted to keep ML on it.

Unfortunately it imports only wav, DNG's are basically invisible in explorer for Adobe products.

@Thobias,

I already gave you an answer in the other thread, and I have stated this problem multiple times in this thread as well, as it is a common problem.

http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9560.msg155726#msg155726

ACR won't load the file simply b/c it's tagged as coming from a 70D. If you change the file to make it appear as though it is coming from some other camera, then ACR will load it (you can use exiftool or even a simple hex editor to do this). This started happening when Adobe released a new version of ACR that added 70D support.

The reason that your DNGs from raw files work but ones from mlv don't is b/c the raw format has no camera metadata, so there is no camera tag in the DNG, and so ACR loads it just fine.

The reason that it worked before you installed Adobe DNG Converter is that the installer for DNG converter probably updated ACR to the latest version that has this issue with 70D DNGs.

If you ask me, this is really a problem with Adobe's software (it fails on perfectly valid input) and they should fix it. What good are 'open standards' like DNG if even the company that made the standard fails implement it correctly. Of course the probability that Adobe would fix something like this are slim to none.

Thobias

@ dmilligan: Thanks for clear answer! That helps me a lot because I though that problem is in my setting or some wired software installation combination. So I will wait for now. Thanks again.
